Rawhides - Buddy loves rawhides and if I can stand the noxious gas fumes coming from him, he can have them.  It never seems to upset his stomach, just gives him bad gas.

Greenies - We've never done these

Pig ears - never tried them

Cow hooves, etc - never tried

RMB - he has had a marrow bone, which he loved.  he liked the marrow, but doesn't really chew the bone.

Bully sticks - oh my this is the ultimate treat.  Buddy loves them, no digestive or choking problems, but I will take it away when it gets to be around 2".

marrow bones aren't RMBs by the way. An RMB is a softish bone covered with meat that the dog completely consumes fairly quickly- such as a lamb neck bone or a raw chicken wing. Marrow bones are hard and can break teeth. Most dogs just lick out the marrow and ignore the bone.

    Jewlieee:

Rawhides - Don't use on my present pack.  Lucy used to love them & had no problems

Greenies - Never use them.  I fear for repercussions

Pig ears - NEVER used them.  They just gross me out.

Cow hooves, etc - Used to give to Lucy.  She loved them even though the smell killed me.  The worst part was stepping on the pieces with wool socks on.

RMB - I feed these & marrow bones regularly with no problems.

Bully sticks - I buy large packs of them & give once a week or so as a special treat.

Rawhides - Once a week or so.  Never had problems.  Never found them in their poop whole, so they always digest, though loose stool is a complication, but for the teeth cleaning factor, I still give them.

Greenies - I've given them but after finding undigested pieces in their poop, no longer.  See rawhides above.

Pig ears - They love them and they are like rawhides.

Cow hooves, etc - Never used.

    RMB - Never used

    Bully sticks - Never used.

I guess I should have said that he has not had RMB, but has had a marrow bone.  I do know the difference, but didn't state it in my post.

  • Rawhides- the bleached ones are my dogs worst enemy, they do not digest and they both tend to try to swallow them without chewing
  • Greenies- 2nd worst enemy, no matter how well they are chewed the poop is always green and runny
  • Pig ears- my dogs love them to death, have never splintered or had issues with them but they get them very seldom because they are so fatty and gross
  • Cow hooves- 2nd favorite treat, have never broken a tooth despite hardness and especially yummy when filled with PB and frozen overnight
  •  -RMB (raw meaty bones) my dogs have never had raw bones

  • Bully Sticks- #1 favorite (and most exspensive UGH) Rory goes into fits if I run out. I found them at Costco 15 pack for $19.99 which is a great price. Both my pups go into ecstasy when they get their sticks, eyes roll in the back of the head as they chew, its hilarious!

Rawhides: I haven't given this in years. When I did, Grey would destroy them, and he'd have dried rawhide stuck to and IN his nose. I had to peel it off of him lol.

    Greenies: Never used.

Pig ears : Haven't used this in years either. Gassy dogs.

Cow hooves, smoked knuckle bones, etc.: Only gave cow hooves once. They smell worse than pig ears. Also makes for gassy dogs.

RMB (raw meaty bones): No problems.

Bully Sticks: Horrifying gas in all three dogs.

Can I have my 4000-something posts back? Pretty please?

Onyt one of these products I have used is the rawhide and only one of my dogs has ever had a problem.  KayCee, golden retriever, almost 9 now, got chocked while trying to swallow a large, soggy piece.  I thount it a fluke.  But when it happened again, I decided no more rawhides.  We had 4 goldens at the time and I was scared she would gt a soggy one another dog had left--one would chew a while and then leave it.  This was about 6 years ago and tIhave not had another one in the house.

Rawhides - had a bad experience with these with two dogs; had to pull the slimy things out of their throats because of choking.

    Greenies - have never used

Pig Ears - no problems; they don't last long

    Cow Hooves/Knuckle bones - haven't used

RMB - no problems but I worry about the hardness of the bones and the sharp edges that they get.

    Bully sticks - haven't used

Rawhides - have never given, never will.

Greenies - have never given, never will.

Pig ears - used them a long time ago, stopped completely after one dog almost died from pancreatitis due to pig ear eating.

Cow hooves - splinter, hard as a rock, after giving one would never give again.

RMB - never given, only because mother wasn't a fan. Will begin trying it out though, now that I live on my own.

Bully sticks - no problems. I remove them when they get small, otherwise no yucky stickiness, no health issues, no gas, etc.

Rawhides - no problems except when they get soft wyatt tries to swallow them whole!

    Greenies - no problem

Pig ears -  never had a problem

Cow hooves, etc - no problem, except that they stink

RMB - sometimes diarrhea. Wyatt once swallowed a whole entire ox tail, but no problems with that situation.

Bully sticks - never used...they're too small.

RMB is the only item I give my dogs occasionally with no problems.  I don't give the others since there is no nutritional value and are basically crappy foods.  My dogs get NYLA bones for chewing.  However my girlfriends Maltese had to have surgery to remove a logged piece of rawhide when he was younger.

    • Rawhides--unless they are the pressed kind, I've had dogs barf up big pieces. Not okay.

    • Greenies--All the stories scared me to ever even consider buying one. They seem made of industrial goo, too.

    • Pig ears--Gross, bacteria-laden and stinky. I don't feed them.

    • Cow hooves, smoked knuckle bones, etc.--I tried a cow hoof and Ole promptly snapped off a wicked spike. They went in the trash.

    • RMB (raw meaty bones)--As long as they are the soft ones, no problems. I get too nervous with leg bones, afraid of broken/cracked teeth.

    • Bully Sticks--They eat them right up and fart later. :o)
