    Feline Pulmonary Disease

My daughter's cat has been losing weight and is having trouble breathing.  She took him to the vet and the Xrays show that the upper left hand quadrant of his lung is occluded with lesions on the bottom of lobe as well.  Initially, there seems to be an infection going on in there.  They will know more when the blood work comes back tomorrow.  The vet put the cat on antibiotics for now and will proceed more confidently after seeing blood work.

Has any one ever heard of anything like this before?  If they have to remove part of the lung will the cat be back to normal?  I really can't find anything that is like this on the web.

    Re: Feline Pulmonary Disease

My daughter's cat was diagnosed with lung cancer.  It is in both lungs and therefore inoperable.  The vet didn't recommend chemotherapy so the cat has about 4 months to live.  My son-in-law is crushed.  The vet was kind enough to offer to come to the house to euthanize Jackson when the time comes.  I think that was nice.  She is a feline specialist and spent a long time of the phone with me (an interested 3rd party).  Her own cat also had the same kind of malignancy, but was a good candidate for surgery.
