    #1 Reason I Won't Be Adding Dog #3

    Indie's coat.  Tongue Tied

I was able to Furminate the other 3 animals in no time flat.  (Got a little over-enthusiastic with The Woobster and he now has a lopsided tooshie, but almost no undercoat left!)

Furminator is just not an option for Indie's coat.  It cuts his long guard hairs which I love even though they are a pain to groom.  So I ended up spending 2 hours (yes! 2 hours) working through his coat with a line comb and working out his undercoat section by section.  No matts but his undercoat is so dense it had to be teased out like a matt.  Weekly hydrotherapy isn't helping I think, getting drenched, air drying and on those appointment days I don't have the time to brush him out.  I think it makes the  undercoat clump up even worse!

He looks all lush and handsome now, but OI! unless it's a slick coated pittie (which I have been dreaming of - ALOT!) there will not be a 3rd dog in the family!  And man, do I feel the pain of those groomers on Groomer Has It during the Bearded Collie challenge!

Dakota's coat is just like that. She doesn't get matted per say but her undercoat is so thick that you have to treat it like its matted. She hates being brushed/groomed to. She'd never sit for me for 2 hours! So every day lately I've been blowing her out with the drier and raking her a bit too. It's never ending.

But I have to say - you hardly notice the fur from dog #3. It just all runs together. ;p

    LOL~

I use two different rakes on Cleo and we've yet to have a single mat. I also use a rinse on her when we bathe. She's blowing right now so we're brushing daily and sometimes twice a day. She's so easy to brush it's kinda theraputic for me...just zone out and watch the fur fly!

LOL! I'm trying to resist the urge (and the dreams) for a little white pittie girl until I've saved enough money to have laminate wood floors put in throughout the house, the vacuuming is driving me nuts, even with vacuuming the dogs, there's still fur everywhere!  Luckily, pin brushing Indie a couple times a week keeps him from matting, it just doesn't penetrate that thick undercoat.  It was therapeutic for me, although killer on my back.  But I got alot of those heavy "Oh she's killing me!" sighs from Mr. Fuzzbutt!  Big Smile

Oh yes the back! Luckily Miss Cleo let's me sit on the floor and she stands in front of me while I brush....she usually ends up draped across my lap at some point tho...LOL. Her breeches and behind her ears are really the only two potentially troublesome areas.

Oh yes..and I have to tell you.. pitty fur is WORSE than double-coated Cherokee's fur. Cherokee's at least clumps together around the house, so you just grab a swiffer or vacuum and go around the edges. Plus she only sheds a couple times a year. Jaz's? Oh no. The floor is always coated in these little teeny tiny black and white prickly hairs. And if you happen to touch him, YOU'RE coated in them too, and they don't come off! You either have to pluck every single one off yourself, or change your clothes. Stick out tongue

I use the firminator on Max. He loves to be brushed! I also use it on the girls, it really cuts down on thier shedding Smile

LOL!  Thanks for the discouragement!  I need it!  Surprise   Some of the pit owners at the park have reported the same thing.  Although the ones who own Dyson's all say it's amazing for getting those prickly little hairs off slick floors like wood and lineoleum, just don't know how it is with vacuuming people!  Big Smile
