Is this normal in a growin pups nails? (Pics)

My 6 month old Bull Terrier puppies nails are starting to grow out like a dark purplish (almost black color)... they were clear up until recently and its right at the quick where they are growing out... Its kinda freakin me out a little and I don't remember this happening with our lab because her were black (at least i thought!!!) from the get-go... Is this just her nails growing out and they will be this darker color from here on out?

     Is this normal?

can you scale it off with your fingernail? Fronts only or backs, too? If so I'd vote that it's saliva build up from foot licking.

The color is a little less that a centimeter on front and back toenails... almost on every toe... it doesn't scrape off at all... there is nothing to scrape off... its like it is part of the nail, same texture everything, it isn't uplifted at all...

saliva build up?? is that bad? what do you do for it?
