Crap I need SHOE help!!! ** Pics of dresses added **

Ok, DH's little sister is getting married next Saturday.  I have a dress already, two actually, and she likes them both so whichever I feel like wearing on the day will be it.  I also have a pair of heeled strappy black sandals and heeled white thong sandals, one that matches either dress.  The problem: they totally changed their wedding and now *I* am the photographer.  Her uncle is doing the posed shots, but I've got to get all the candid stuff and whatever she wants of certain objects.  Now, neither of said pairs of shoes are in any way comfortable, especially since I have wide, flat feet and arthritis in my right foot.  The wedding is now happening in her uncle's condo building, which happens to be directly above the Randolph St. station in Chicago, so she wants shots outside at Millenium Park.  I really can't walk around in either of these pairs of shoes, much less be running around Millenium Park and back and forth across Mi Ave.  This thought *just* occurred to me.  So I need new shoes by Thursday.  They have to be nice enough for a small, casual wedding (it's almost like summery cocktail party style, we're wearing short but classy dresses), but less heel than what I've got now, not something that's going to cause me to trip in the street!  I would LOVE not to spend more than $50.  I am cheap, especially with things I hate wearing/buying and probably won't use again.

I'll post pics of the dresses tonight.

Oh, these are the white shoes (my wedding shoes), the black are similar but the strap is a bit thicker and the heels are higher.  They are both VERY uncomfortable (for my bad foot) and very hard for me to walk in, but I do like them both and they match their respective dresses, sadly.

I'd go for a pair of pretty, flat sandals.  I don't ever, ever wear heels to shoot a wedding.

Got any examples?  I really need help....I'm so not a girl...I wear flip-flops and crocs and they are from the boy's side of the store (b/c I have wide feet)....

I do have one pair of flat sandals that I like, but they were really cheap and give me bad blisters after a few minutes.  Maybe I can try them again and see if they work (yeah right).

Look in the "Wedges" section as well, you may find those MUCH more comfortable to spend the day in than heels.

If you can give me the name of another shoe store you have access to that will have an online store, I can make more suggestions.

ooo, ok, the built-up heel thing could work.  As long as I have something in mind, I can go to several stores and look, I just have no clue what to look for!

Perhaps a nice pair of ballet flats, or a simple pair of flip flops if you are comfy in those.  I find you can dress up a really simple pair of solid color $3 flipflops from walmart easily enough.  Its not exactly Stacy and Clinton style though, but you can always change back into the fancier shoes later on.

I like that first pair.  I agree with Kate, low strappy sandals.  The one thing I learned is if you get something without a back, they are less likely to hurt.

I just bought a pair of black flip flops from Walgreens for $5.  They are balck with little silver flowers on them.  Totally comfy and would still look ok...

I was thinking ballet flats, but those are even worse for my bad foot.  There's something about the bendy-ness of the sole and the way those shoes hold my foot...it's torture!  I try to wear them all the time and end up with my foot in the cam boot (cast) the next day.

I think I will find a cheap pair of dressier/embellished flip-flops just in case nothing works out...

Now I have something to do this weekend...

Why not just wear a flip flop or comfy shoe while you are running around outside taking pictures and change into your nice shoes for the reception? My son is getting married in May and I will be taking a pair of comfortable shoes to slip into soon as the dancing starts! Nothing can ruin a good time like sore feet.

Re: Crap I need SHOE help!!!

y'know I probably should just take several pairs.  The wedding is not very traditional but she does want us to "sort of dress up", but I'm not really sure what to expect.  It will be small (family and a few friends) and is being held in the "hospitality room" of this condo high-rise.  Basically, DH's dad is doing a short ceremony and then we immediately eat, which will be pizza catered by Giordanos, and make your own ice cream sundaes, lol.  She called the other day to say she did want to go across the street to take pics in the park, so that will involve a lot of walking if she is planning on wanting pics in the gardens they have there.

Now I have something to do this weekend...

Target has some really cute dressier flip flops, in a few different colors.  Let's check the website... http://www.target.com/Merona-Winda-Beaded-Thong-Sandals/dp/B000WSKTHO/qid=1208551536/ref=br_1_9/601-4682272-8036920?ie=UTF8&node=3429501&frombrowse=1&pricerange=&index=tgt-mf-mv&field-browse=3429501&rank=-product%5Fsite%5Flaunch%5Fdate&rh=tgt%5F2%3ABlack&page=3

Mercy, that was a long address, sorry.  It's hard to tell from this picture but the straps have beads on them that kind of dress them up.  They're super comfortable too.

Onyx ate one of my gold flipflops this morning.  It was my last intact pair of 3buckers from last year...Crying
