    Onyx' stubborn coat

I don't understand what is going on with Onyx' coat.  It won't come out.  She's a black dog so the undercoat comes through grey when it blows.  That part I get.  What I don't understand is why its holding on so hard?  I've tried all of the tools I have on hand, the furminator, the grooming rake, the slicker, even just pulling it out by hand.  Nothing is grabbing that coat!  Crusher is already done his.  He looks great, so beside him she looks like a homeless neglected freak!  She doesn't seem to be suffering from the heat yet, as its not hot out, but its above freezing and her coat looks horrible.  She doesn't have any mats or anything, I can comb right through it with the long toothed comb, even her tail and behind her ears is good.  But that faded grey fur just wont let go!  What can I do?

Warm bath/blowout weekly, should loosen it.

Haha, that is NOT the answer I was looking for.  I wanted a little something closer to, just leave it and it will go away on its own...

I don't have a doggy dryer.  Will my hair dryer work even a little bit?  It would likely short out and quit on me before I managed to dry her tail, but a forced air dryer isn't in the budget right now.

No, a hair dryer won't do anything - I've tried that with Dakota. Worthless.

How old is onyx? As they get older, they blow less of their coat. Dakota kept a good deal of her coat last year.

Uh...2 and a half.  She just looks old cause of her white chinny chinn chin.  If I remember right, she was stubborn last year too.  When I used the slicker today I had to empty it after about 30 or 40 strokes, and I brushed forever it seemed with little difference.  The rake and furminator still don't do anything.  I think she has too much fur for the furminator to get through.

Is there a bathe your own dog place, around there?

Alternatively, you could stand her somewhere in my general vicinity. I compulsively pull undercoat out of dogs.

LOL, I'll send her your way then.  If you could do that and then teach her not to bark that would be great....

No there is no petwash anywhere near here.  I had actually been thinking of opening one as part of my parents laundromat/carwash, but life has gotten pretty busy lately and that's gonna have to wait.

LOL, that would be REALLY cool!!! Wash your dog, your dirty socks, and your car... all at the same place! I'd totally be there.

I was having fun with a big ol' teddy bear of an Akita, today, picking his undercoat. Haha! He's the happiest Akita EVER, and loved it.

    Re: Onyx' stubborn coat

I'm suprised you haven't seen them actually.  My parents own a Laundromat Carwash which is a common combination in itself, but they get about 8 different magazine newsletter type things and they all have tons of stuff about the dogwashes.  It looks like a pretty common thing to be adding into the mix.  I mean in makes sense, all the plumbing is already there.

Onyx' coat is kinda sorta starting to come out a bit.  But the only way I can get it out is to pull it by hand.  Ah well.

Nope, I've never even seen a wash your own dog place. They just seem common, everywhere else.
