Most gentle way to get an mat out from "down there"

    I don't know how it would work for Neiko's hair but with the Goldens, when they get a mat down there and they do (cuz, yes, they are very hairy down under), I just cut it out rather than trying to wrestle with the mat and have it hurt them for the sake of saving some hair. Nobody looks under there but us, so if it has a small chop out of there it's fine. I recommend shears with a rounded edge, so the skin does not get nicked. I should also mention that they fully trust me with the scissors and don't squirm. And, sometimes I just cut out a part and then work the rest with my fingers. They always look bootiful!

    ETA: WOW.....do note the "I do mine myself" meant I do my DOGS clip there myself LOL...wow read that wrong and erm...yeah...nevermind.

    I try to stay on top of things with Nanook, him being part Chow, one can just imagine what the possibilities are under there....lol

    Regular brushing and when things get a little wild I use a spray on detangler.......works like a charm......

    the only way i can do it 'down there' besides having a groomer do a sanitary trim, is when she's sleeping... she rolls on her back anyways... and a quick litte snip with blunt scissors take care of it for me.... lol
