Re: Canidae users... New illnesses breaking out.. anyone affected?

Some stuff I've learned from another board:

This number (40461-01040) is on every bag of Canidae, so it doesn't indicate anything.

It seems there may have been a few "bad bags", but the batch number (on the bottom of the bag - Not the UPC code) is not known, so there's no way to know if you have a bad bag or not or if there is such a thing.

So, I say if you're using Canidae, there's probably no problem because if there were a few bad bags, they're probably not in circulation any longer as the complaints were from late last year.

If it's really just a few bags, it could be in the shipping or even in the way the stores keep them. I've often found seen bags of food st the stores just lying on the floor (they really need to be on pallets), sometimes they have considerable dust on them (makes ya wonder how long it's been there). But...the corn in a bag of canidae with no explanation, and the lack of feedback from the company makes me uncomfortable. Rather than returning the remainder of the food, it's better to send it to someplace that can test it.

Is there any real truth to this...asking cause I have several friends/family feeding Canidae, and I want to know all I can before I send hysteria flying through the phone.

What I have found out is that there were some bags that caused some problems in some dogs last year. Apparently, they had some quality control issues at one time, but they have long since been resolved. I would feed Canidae with confidence. In fact, I'm going to be using it in my rotation.

I got this information from my local dog food guy, who is VERY conscientious and knowledgeable about what he sells.

I wouldn't send the hysteria. Smile

Mine have been on Canidae since New Year's...no problems.  Coke had some stomach issues we believe are due to turkey in ALS, not Canidae in general.  Kenya can eat ALS and Lamb and Rice, and Coke now eats Lamb and Rice.

Almost every food shows up on that website at some point or another.   Someone opens a new bag of food or start feeding a new food.   Dog gets sick.   Assumption is that new food caused illness.   They complain.   Others say "YEAH - meeeeeeeee tooooooooooooo !".   Alot of it turns out to be hype, and I think that's what this one was.

People ask me if I think dogs go to heaven. I respond: Of course they do ! Heaven could only BE heaven if dogs are there

And if you read it VERY carefully you even find positive comments about all those brands. Confused

Has anyone had any further contact from the company themselves?  I've been feeding Canidae forever, with no problems, so was just curious about the companies reaction.
