Can I ask for some get-out-of-the-hospital-soon vibes?

Dad hasn't been feeling too well, so Mom finally got him to the ER today, after calling his doc and doc saying to take him there.  He's got pneumonia and an "inflammed colon" that's right now ideopathic but hopefully they'll find the cause soon and fix it.  They're keeping him till at least wednesday.  The hospital is most of the problem though, they had him out in the hallway all day today and last I heard they weren't sure they even had a room for him tonight.  They won't let him go home though in case the bleeding starts back up and doesn't stop.  So anyway. Dad's only 57 so he definitely shouldn't have nearly the health problems that he does, but he's always been in an industry with hard labor so it's taking its toll.

We've had a hard week here as well, what with the issues with my BIL pretending to be DH when he got pulled over and got a ticket (I'm too lazy to link to the thread right now, sorry) to DH getting stuck in Ohio cuz of the storm they got and now this.  He's on spring break and I took the week off, so that's some help, though not the best way to spend your time off.  We were planning on heading to Buffalo later in the week anyway, but now I think we're heading up earlier.  We're just hoping that whatever cause they find isn't too serious.

A few good vibes my dad's way would be appreciated.  Thanks, guys.

Absolutely -- and 'stress' generally makes everything worse. Will for sure lift him up!  And you and your husband too.

Oh, I recently went thru an illness with my dad too.  I really hope they will figure out what's going on with him and that he'll be well soon.

The worst part is not hearing.  I left it up to Mom as to when she wanted us to come, because I dont want to cause her more stress with two of us and a dog being in her house, but she must not have gotten home until late last night cuz she didn't call.  Soon I will call her and see what's going on.

Thanks for all the good thoughts!

Re: Can I ask for some get-out-of-the-hospital-soon vibes?

So I called mom, woke her up unfortunately.  Turns out they didn't think they could get a room for dad for maybe days, so he went and signed himself out of the hospital!  They didn't get home till quite late.  I guess mom has to call his doctor and go from there.

So, I guess I was wrong to ask for get-out-of-the-hospital-soon vibes -- I certainly didn't mean like this!!  Those darn vibes work too well, LOL.  Gee, guess I need to change that to get-better-soon-vibes or something.

    Thanks again, guys

Get-well-soon vibes coming from us!  Sounds like that hospital situation was pretty stressful anyway.  Would they be willing to send a nurse out to check on him every day until they get a bed?

Re: Can I ask for some get-out-of-the-hospital-soon vibes?

Although that sounds like a good idea, I doubt the hospital would agree.  Mom got dad an appt with his doctor this afternoon, so hopefully any of the tests they have left to do they can do as an outpatient.  As my mom said, they were keeping him in the hospital so that in case he started bleeding, he was there so they could stop it.  But, when they went 4-5 hours without so much as a nurse coming by the hallway they had him parked in, they both realized that he could have bled to death before someone got to them.  Mom even tried to get dad into a "quieter" hallway where there wasn't 20-30 patients but they refused to let him move anywhere.  And they expected him to stay like that for DAYS!!!

    Thanks for the vibes, everyone!

quick update - dad has two weeks off of work per his doc. He has about 4-5 tests scheduled over the next week or so. The specialists aren't worried though, chances are it's something managed with diet more than anything. pneumonia is responding well to treatment Thanks for all the vibes!

Yay - that's great news. I hope the tests come back showing nothing serious going on and a simple change in diet is all that's needed. I'll continue to think healing thoughts for your dad.

That's great news. It's a shame he had such a rough time in the hospital though. I'll keep him in my prayers.

Re: Can I ask for some get-out-of-the-hospital-soon vibes?

Oh, shoot, here I go again forgetting to update!  Thanks for the vibes!

Dad has been out of work for 3 weeks now, he goes back on Monday.  Basically, he's had dozens of tests and no one knows what's wrong.  But, his symptoms went away and the pneumonia is gone.  So maybe it was one of those weird things that cleared up?  I know it might be a sign of something serious and shouldn't be ignored..... he has a few more specialist appts in the next month to go over all the results and maybe do more follow-ups, so maybe they'll either find something or rule all the bad stuff out?  They did determine he has a heart murmur, but that certainly didn't have anything to do with the GI bleeding!  Poor guy is just getting old, I guess.....

I appreciate the support, it's harder to deal with an unknown that something you know!
