Reply Contact It was my breeder that decided on the name Panda, because it was a P litter and he has black markings around his eyes. And I decided that I liked the name ;-) You have a problem with my spelling? Well, I can always slå over på dansk, og så opdager du ikke fejlene ;-P

  Re: Your dog's name... Reply Contact I forgot our kitties! "Barn Kitty" got her name because she loves to hang out in the barn with the horses. "Casey" came with his name and we liked it. Tink (short for Tinkerbelle) was named Tank, but she's so tiny and elfish looking that we decided that she was more of a Tinkerbelle. "Kalli" who is no longer with us, was an absolutely gorgeous calico cat.  Are we clever or what??  She died of very old age and is still greatly missed.  And since this is fun, here are our horse names! "Woodland Starfire" is my black Percheron/QH mare.  Her name was Star and I added to it.  "Sheza Lucky Clover" (Lucky) is my daughter's horse.  She came with the name Lucky. Tucker is our 4yr. old Belgian gelding. He was a rescue and what a wonderful boy he is.  His name was Dale but it just didn't fit.  Tucker is perfect for him. "Laurissa's Kiena" (Keena) is our 2 yr old Belgian filly. She was born here one very cold, rainy night.  Kiena is an Irish name. It means brave. Dogs are proof...God not only loves us and wants us to be happy, but He also has a great sense of humor and likes to hear us laugh!!!

We took him in at Christmas time for a few weeks from a vet who was patching him up after he was run over by a car.  They said his name was "Demon".  I said no dog comes into my house named anything negative, so I used the first name I could think of. The dog stayed, the name stuck.  I should have thought about it more.

Reply Contact Talus' full name is: Noblegaze's Gallantman Talus I wanted a name from Roman mythology, but settled on Greek.... Talus was the last of the bronze gods who circled the island of Crete and threw rocks at oncoming ships to protect the people of the island... He's my "little" bronze protector....

  Re: Your dog's name... Reply Contact The summer after I graduated from college, my then SO/now DH and I went on a big road trip. We lived in Colorado at the time, and drove to the Royal Gorge Bridge, Mesa Verde, the four corners, Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Vegas, Moab, Breckenridge, then back home. It was soooo much fun. Somewhere along the way, we were driving through a small town, and SO saw a business sign that said "Rupert" something or other. He declared, "Some day I'm going to have a dog. And his name will be Rupert." I thought that was so cute. We were living in an apartment at the time, and didn't have time/space/money for a dog. We later moved back to Wisconsin, and after a couple years of renting and saving up for a deposit on a house, we were finally able to buy a house. Ever since I was in college I had been doing research on what breed to get. I decided on a vizsla and looked for breeders in my area. I ended up going to Minnesota to look at some 3 week old pups. There were 4 boys and 2 girls. I picked up every boy pup and asked it, "Are you my Rupert?" There was a fat one, a light colored one, a runt, and my Rupert, the most perfect one of all. The name the breeders gave him was Ole, so that became his middle name.

Reply Contact janobonano: I picked up every boy pup and asked it, "Are you my Rupert?"   LOL I had a pet turtle that I had already decided was "Herbie" so when I was turtle shopping I picked each one up and looked at them to see if they looked like a Herbie.  My sister's kids have him now. Bugsy was Bosco at the shelter but had been a stray and only there for a week so he had no real name.  DH wanted Thor or River or Gunnar none of which I thought suited my silly pup.  Then a few days after we had him he was outside and I was trying to get him to come to me, instead he sat down and scratched.  I said what have you got bugs?  And he came running.  Name finalized    Bugsy just was a natural progression. He would have made a great Kramer (Seinfeld) but we didn't think of that until it was too late. Plus I love the name Bugsy and it totally suits him!

For ollie, I wanted name that "matched" since I hoped they would be partners in crime. His registered name that the breeder wanted was wierd so I saw him and thought oliver ;) They just kinda came to me. Here I am stuck in the middle with you I practice societal sanctioned assault

Reply Contact "Z" - my English Coonhound is named for a hero because she will be used as search and rescue Trailer - an Australian Cattle Dog - so named because she was our "trail" dog when we were horseback riding. Vertical - pronounced: Vertee-cowl -- my daughter's cat was so named because he was constantly climbing up any leg covered in blue jeans to perch on your shoulder when he was a kitten Spookthemule - my mule --named because EVERY THING is sooooooo spooky to her KT - husband's  horse - initials of the couple we bought her from Hounds are hugs with fur!

Reply Contact Trinket- It just popped into my head when I saw her.  She is "Lil Miss Theodora's Trinket".  The breeder named her Little Miss Theodora" with the call name "Teddy".   Just didn't fit.  I re-registered her.  Winston- Striking resemblance to Winston Churchill and his stately manner.  (Senior rescue) Toby-  It just fit.  He didn't have a name and he liked "Toby".  (Senior rescue) Pippin- He is the adventurous Prince of the musical.  "Prince Pippin Lucky Pup" If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I would climb right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Harley-He's a bulldog and looks all tough so we named him after the motorcycles Bella-I just really like the name Bella so it kind of stuck with her.  Ginger-She came with the name.

Reply Contact Chance- When we adopted him that was his name already, and even though we could of changed it because he didn't know his name, we decided to keep it because we got him by "chance" haha. Reply Contact Isabelle--My daughter bought Isabelle for Christmas for me and suggested the name.  I really liked it and she looked like an Isabelle, so I kept it.  The name fits her perfectly, because she is the matriarch of my little group. Gracie--I named her after the Grace that we get from our Heavenly Father.  It is a free gift and I gave Gracie that name to honor that gift. She is one of the gifts that I have been given.  She has the most special love for her family. Treasure--I lost my little Sophie--She was my heart dog and I called her that.  Sophie was a treasure to me.  I got Treasure a couple of months after I lost my little Sophie.  I named Treasure as an honor to Sophie.  Treasure has become my little treasure in her own rights, so her name fits her perfectly. Olivia--I got little Olivia a couple of weeks after I got Treasure.  I got her because she had the same father as Sophie.  I felt as if the names Olivia and Sophie had the same feel.  Olivia is my little baby and is soooo lovable.  Katza the cat--I got Katza from the rescue group at Petsmart.  Her name was Katza which is I think German for cat.  I liked it, so I kept it. Mom to Bell, Gracie, Treasure, Olivia, and Katza--the Cat Sophie--My Heart, My Joy

  Re: Your dog's name... Reply Contact Boston - Once we heard that our application was approved from the rescue, DH and I were literally just throwing out names. One of us said Boston, and it just seemed perfect.  the cats Gracie - when we brought Gracie home, we thought she was a boy at first. So we had the name Fletched picked out. But we did a double check and realized that Fletcher was just not going to work for a little girl kitten. So we decided on Gracie since it was feminine and shes solid grey too.  Turk - Is a large, weird cat. The only name that ever seemed to suit him was Turk. Don't know why  Finnigan - He is a red headed trouble maker and Finnigan just seemed appropriate.

Reply Contact Dan the border collie - Le'A's Dapper Dan Man - named after a line from O Brother Where Art Thou Possum the border collie - WW Hang N 'Round at Le'A - named Possum because she looked like one as a baby and the nickname stuck.  She's usually called the Awesome Possum. Kelda the border collie baby - named taken from Terry Pratchett's discworld series.  Keldas are female NacMagFeegles and there is only one per clan to "do the thinking," among other things.  Since I lost my older bc girl we need someone to "do the thinking."  Even at 4 mos. she seems to be up to the task!   Her full name will be along the lines of Kelda O' the NacMacFeegle, Kelda O' the Feegles, etc. Haddie the PON - Sinclair's It Had to Be  Ewe - named Haddie because I "had" to have that puppy, even though timing wasn't good...she was the one :o)  She is usually called Haddie the Baddie Arlo the siamese cat - pulled from a kill shelter the day before he was put down and named after Arlo Guthrie Cera the kitten - named after Cera the Triceratops  from Land Before Time because my 5 year old daughter got to name her.  It wasn't my favorite name but then I named a dog Possum so I couldn't say anything! We also have Pinkie the hamster...named after my daughter's sweet blankie.  Go figure!

  Re: Your dog's name... Reply Contact Casey - his origional name was 'Sammy', but I already had a cat names Sammy. So I thought about it, and Casey just popped into my head, and stuck. Now the cats (and fish) Tillie - Short for Matilda, named after my dads grandma. (Tiger's sister, we wanted two T names, my brother couldn't say other words well ie - Cat was "tat") Smokey - well.... (10 points for origionalilty here) He's grey. Tonka - when he was just a tiny kitten (had him since he was 4 weeks old) would just bulldoze through the other kittens - like a truck. So he became the Tonka Truck. Also called Tommy. Sammy - When we found here, my excellent tech skills said 'he' was a she. We named her Sophie. Upon further inspection, we realized "she" was a he.... and Sophie became Sammy. Also called Frank, but that's a story I would rather not get into..... Tiger (RIP) had tiger stripes on his tail..... I was young. haha Aurora (RIP) came with that name when my mom found her roaming. (She had a note taped to her collar). We called her Rover because she traveled to get to us. Banjo  - the fish - not sure where his name came from.... haha
