  Westminster 2007 Question Reply Contact Does anyone know if the dog that got away at the airport ever got caught/found? I vaguely remember last summer (?) there were supposed sightings? I have not watched any of Westminster this year (no time) did they talk about it? It has always struck me odd that this dog who was constantly around humans would avoid them like the plague. I can understand fear, but could it really survive on it's own right off the bat in NYC? I do remember it being extremely cold when the dog got away. I guess it is a great mystery but I was just wondering.

I guess it was 2006. I hope the dog was found. The whole thing just struck me odd when it happened. I know my dogs would not be able to "survive" on their own. They would be looking for the first human and warm house for food and shelter.

  Re: Westminster 2007 Question Reply Contact Janet808: If this is the same story, I'm thinking of.  I thought the dog was found and caught.  But, you're talking about 2007.  I'm lucky, I can remember last month!  LOL    You may be thinking of the chocolate Lab that was at Westminster this year.  Roger went missing over the summer when his owners were visiting family.  He was found within a day or so, tho.  I don't find it odd that Vivi avoided people.  Whippets are a shy breed.  The Whippet Club used to have a page on their website about the search for Vivi.  I can't find it now. All the Angels were busy so they sent me Caleb instead.

I mean if a black lab were stolen, and you met a person with a black lab would you know it was "the" dog? I agree it's odd, but I can tell you personally I would not know one grey cat from another.I feel bad for the owners/handlers such a bad situation. I am sure they went over and over what could have been done differently.
