    Re: What a PITA

If you go on the main topic page,it lists this thread under the heading of 'What a PITA',which i can only assume means 'what a pain in the ***'. How can anyone just change the topic of a thread? Shouldnt that be only up to the OP or admin?

    The subject line is editable

Edie, when you reply to a post, there's the word 'subject' and then a box with the subject filled in.  This is below the post you are replying to and above where you type.  The box that the subject is in is editable so if you want to change it to better tell what the subject of you post will be you can.  Some people like that b/c it relates directly to what they're gonna say, and then others don't pay any attention to it.

I'm not sure why on the main page it shows the subject of the last post but when you go into that section it doesn't show the subject it shows the thread's title.  I find that to be a little confusing, becuase on the front page I think it's a brand new thread but in the section I realize that some one just changed the subject line on the old thread.

Hope that cleared things up a little bit....at least to mud-like consistancy Wink

Re: POLL: Premium Dry Kibble Survey

I don't understand why there is so much static about this post.  I read everyone's answers and found them to be interesting and informative.  Except for all the griping. That was just kind of sad. So some of it's been stated somewhere else - big deal.  Can't we just let people ask their questions and leave them be? And if things go a different direction as the posts go on, so what.  If you don't like it, go read something else.  Keep things in perspective - is this really worth arguing about and possibly making someone feel bad about?

By the way, I feed Canidae.  I have a dog with severe food allergies and he is doing better on the Canidae.  He hasn't completely cleared up so I may have to try something else.  He has red, swollen, itchy eyes and was quite miserable, but again, he does seem a bit better on the Canidae so I'm hoping he's going to clear up completely.  Our vet wants me to give it a few weeks.  So for me, these posts are interesting because I may be looking at switching foods again.

Both dogs get IAMS, though Riley still gets the one for large breed puppies. It's a basically good dog food for a not so bad price and we have fed it to all our dogs past and present, and it works like a charm. : )

I fed my older Labrador Diamond Senior[two cups per day] for the last two years. She is now overweight and has several new lipomas..I just bought a bag of Evo reduced fat.I hope it helps. We have our aussie pup on Canidae but she is fussy and won't eat it without top dressing it with canned so I think the next bag will be Fromm duck and sweet potato as she downed the sample without any mix-ins.

Re: POLL: Premium Dry Kibble Survey

My girl's food allergies eliminate the majority of foods available, either pet store brand or holistic; she can have Eagle Pack Holistic duck or lamb and Nature's Variety Prairie lamb, beef, or venison. She can't have EVO, Core, Origen, etc.  Right now she's on a prescription food called Skin Support SS 21;   http://www.royalcanin.us/adx/aspx/adxGetMedia.aspx?DocID=134,12,1,Documents&MediaID=1951&Filename=CanineSkinSupport.pdf

The ingredients aren't sexy but her coat, which requires high amounts of zinc and linoleic acid, glows on this food. I always add fresh food to her kibble; today it was raw beef with some vegetables and berries. Yesterday she saved me the trouble by catching and eating a young rabbit.

I feed Mosby Taste of the Wild.  I like the ingredients list, it's available at my local pet store, and it's one of the more affordable top quality foods available there.

Ari is on Innova Large Breed Puppy kibble. This is what the breeder was feeding and I love the ingredients. All her flatcoats have gorgeous coats and are kept at ideal weights...so we are sticking with Innova.  I will be adding on occasion some egg yolk (cooked), cottage cheese and a little yogurt into her diet.  She's already had some egg yolk (and white rice since her stools have been VERY soft since taking her home, which we are contributing to the stress of a new environment.

I may also try some canned Innova later on, once we get her stools firmed up that is!

Orijen is my main food. Once in awhile she'll get another quality food. She's on a bag of Canidae currently, for instance. 90% of the time it's Orijen, though.
