Update on Baxter, my pom mix.

    Hi everyone.

A while ago, I made a post asking if my dog's symptoms could be pointing toward hypothyroidism.  After fighting with my vet since then, he finally ordered a full panel last Wednesday.  He called last night to let us know that he does indeed have hypothyroidism.  So, yay.  Now we can fix the problems he was having.  He starts .2 mg of thyroxzine tonight.

I just wanted to post to thank you all for the wonderful advice you gave me when I first posted about Baxter.  It was very much appreciated.  This is a wonderful forum.

Glad you fought for your dog.  Now he can finally get the treatment he needs to be a happy healthy boy!  Good for you!

Nice work !      I think all too many times folks just tend to trust and not question.   I can be a very demanding patient, for both myself and Prancer - but I know I'm that way and I apologize in advance to them LOL.    90% of the time the doctor ends up being as big an advocate as I am -- and I think I've actually taught them a thing or two along the way.   I'll bet you did exactly that with your vet !

People ask me if I think dogs go to heaven. I respond: Of course they do ! Heaven could only BE heaven if dogs are there
    Prancer: June(ish) 2006 - 13# poodle mix - rescue
Michelle: 1994 - 2007. English Cocker Spaniel - shelter. RIP sweetheart - I'll see you again someday

Thanks all.  At his appointment on 12/8, he had already lost 1.4 pounds and he's a completely different dog.  He no longer lounges around sleeping all day, but actually wants to interact with people and play with the other dogs.  I can't believe he is the same dog.
