    *SOB*, along with me!(rwbeagles)

I live near a Hooters...and it was on the news last night that this particular Hooter's had resolved their many YEAR battle with the neighborhood re:selling beer to customers.

In fact they were barred from doing so until it was resolved in a court of law. Guess what? they continued to furnish beer to customers...FOR FREE...FOR YEARS...MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN BEER...GIVEN AWAY FREE....

Now sob with me...for I had NO idea about this until yesterday upon the announcement that things were resolved and now I can go to Hooter's and BUY the same beer I could've gotten FREE only a few days ago and for YEARS prior to that Crying Beer

Boy that does suck!  Doesn't it always figure you find out too late about such a wonderful thing!  LOL  It's weird they didn't let them sell beer to customers.  Is it a dry town?  We don't have that problem here!  Heck if there was bar in Pgh. that gave beer away for free, you'd know about it because it would be so packed, people would be lined up for miles!  LOL  Although, our problem is no strip joints.  There was one in an area outside of Pgh. that had been there for years, but for some reason a church that was up on a hill could see it when they came out of church decided to complain about it, and I believe they had to close it down.  How stupid!  All of a sudden someone complains (out of the blue) and "Poof" it's gone.  I'm not a strip club goer, as if there aren't men, then I don't care to go, but still....some people!

Beer and wine in the grocery stores here but no liquor stores....so...hmm semi dry? ARID? *cackle*

I think in this case...maybe it was they couldn't get their license to SELL it due to opposition and if opposition/petitions reach a certain percent of the overall precint population...they might have to have a hearing, etc.

I have to tell ya..coming from Cali...the concept of "dry town" floored me. In cali they have Jack Daniels in the GROCERY store LMBO.

We were the same way when we lived in Mississippi. We came from a place that had drive through daiquari shops all over the place, and Walmart even had its own section for hard liquor. In our area of MS, you had to go to an actual liquor store to buy anything other than beer, and until the last year we were there, stores couldn't sell cold beer. Places couldn't sell any liquor on Sundays, either. We rarely drink, but it was still odd to get used to that concept.

Can I have my 4000-something posts back? Pretty please?

When we first moved here it was a "dry" town but there was a liquor store on the outskirts of the city.  Once the grocery stores and drug stores started selling not only wine & beer but the hard stuff too, there didn't seem to be any need for liquor stores.

We still have to go to  liquor stores to buy the "hard" stuff.  Not that it bothers me.  I very rarely drink and when I do, I try to avoid the hard stuff.  I drank a fifth of aftershock one night and I paid dearly all night!

Yeah it is!!  I killed the fifth in about 2 hours time.  Now, if I smell anything that smell remotely like it, I get sick to my stomach!  I was doing fine until Justin put me in a water bed.  Come on now, alcohol and water beds just don't mix!!  Ohhh, did I mention that I fell and hit the back of my head on a HUGE weight bar?!  I had a big goose egg on my head for days!!

I didn't know people actually drank aftershock.  Or am I thinking of aftershave? Huh?

It's this completely vile liqueur you do as a shot.  A girlfriend and I were in bar and a couple of guys were hitting on us and kept buying us this stuff....I got SO sick and just can't even stomach the thought of it anymore.

There are several different flavours, but I have only tried the red (cinnamon) one.
