Howl-o-ween ? Do you dress up your hapless hound?

I love the fall and Howl-o-ween is the best!!  We shop early for costumes for the kids, trying to find ones that will endure and add to the family dress up chest and that includes the dogs!  Today we took snaps of one of our pack to send to his mom who is setting up a new life in another state. Check out my pages if you'd like a giggle. ( I don't know how to add them to a post yet, since this is a new lap top and a new playground).  Do you dress up your fur kids?  Do you have to bribe them or do they just think it as funny as we do?

coco hasnt really had clothes on since last winter... but halloween would be exactly a year since we got her!

last year she was so tiny at only 8 1/2 weeks old, she sat on my lap the entire time while i sat on the porch and handed out candy...it was cold and all she had on was her little denim jacket with sherpa lining....  all the kids loved on her, and it was a great way for her to be introduced to strangers and strange costumes! lol  she was so little and dependent on me, i didnt even need a leash as she wouldnt stray not even a foot away from me...

i think i socialized her too much cause she would follow anyone home! lol

so this year... i'm not sure... i might have to keep her leashed to me as her recall isnt 100%.

i did get her two costumes though...and depending on the weather, we'll see if she even wears one... a hot dog... or minnie mouse... lol

since she was little, she would always shiver outside... so she's used to wearing clothes...hence she tolerates it.... but say for instance i put something on her, she would rub herself over everything trying to "rub" it off... lol

so now i only put clothes on her if she's too cold...

ie... it's starting to get really cold in my room late at night since i open all the windows.... and if i dont put a tshirt on her... like right now, she snuggles so close to me i can barely move.... sometimes she even try to sleep ON my lap top for added warmth.  Surprise

I have one who LOVES playing dress up, and one who only likes clothes when it's super cold out. I do not encourage people to touch Teenie (or even to look at her) and especially not kids, so I don't dress her up. Dress up is her favorite game, and she has lots of little, practical and cute outfits. She's very cold natured, so she stays dressed all winter. No costumes, though.

I don't but my sister does. Her dog is going to wear a scary spider costume this year.

    like this?

within 5 minutes he eaten it off and was slinging the remnants around

despite that I bought a black T shirt and am going to put a white stripe down the back and call it a skunk!  It will need a tail but that wouldn't last 10 seconds so we'll forgo that! Big Smile

I cannot keep my dogs from trying to tear Madison's costumes off!  We don't even try to dress the dogs up!

Anyone who owns a hairless breed dresses them a lot depending on the weather.   Willa has her own little chest of draws with everything from short sleeve t-shirts to  protect her from sunburn to heave fleece jackets.  So Howl-o-ween is just a new outfit for her.

Last year Tootsie weighed only 14 ounces so she went as a bat.  Wild Willa went as a headhunter.  Dottie, aged 12, has a bad heart so she doesn't go along.  This year Willa will be a Baby Doll complete with  pink dress, diaper and bonnet.  I haven't decided for Tootsie (now a whopping 2 pounds)  --Skunk?  Black widow?  Any suggestions?

Brown would never stand for it, and Tar would want to eat the costume. Grey, however, loves to wear tshirts, especially his Ballpark hotdog shirt. So he's our trick-or-treater in the family.

Can I have my 4000-something posts back? Pretty please?

No, I've never dressed my dogs up, although we have the cat, and that's hilarious.  He just falls over, can't move!  LOL  Tabitha (maltese) is so small you could never find anything small enough although my daughter and I were out this evening and they're coming out w/ clothes that just might fit her now.  But, she's too old to be tortured like that. lol  Although, I did think about finding utters to put on Misty and make her a cow, since we've nicknamed her Misty "moo cow" cause she tromps around the house and poor Tabitha like a cow!  Stick out tongue  But I was thinking of at least getting Misty a halloween bandana.  Something simple, since I'm not sure how she'll react.

Handle every situation like a dog.
