    Re: Day before Turkey chat

Mr. Turkey is finally thawed and ready to be injected tonight with Holiday Goodness then bathed in hot peanut oil til he is crispy and delightful, tomorrow. The kids worked very hard on the place cards for the table, and they came out really cute.

Elias started his Concerta today, and seems fine...he worked very well on the cards and there's been minimal tension with he and Lily today...sometimes they grate on one another during days off. On the other hand he is not zombied out which is good, hasn't complained of a head or stomach issue and asked like normal for a snack at 10am and is now looking forward to lunch...lol.

Good I think. I hope everyone has a nice Thursday!

Bonnie is in bed for her morning nap so guess I'd better get busy before DH gets home and Bonnie gets up from her nap.  Just like having kids

I do the same thing - I have to pick and choose the times I want to do something, for fear the dogs will see me in motion and then get stirred up and start getting in my way.

I really, truly am suspicious of my sister and her 20lb turkey... if my parents show up tonight from NH, I will laugh.  Particularly since I really need to do laundry and OF COURSE my sheets need to be changed, when potential company is coming over.  Now, if they don't show up... I will go back to thinking my sister is a nut job for repeatedly saying "I want leftovers" every time we talk about the overabundance of food she's cooking.

I am in a chipper mood... guess the coffee is working.  Again this morning, more weird dreams.  In the last one, it was my birthday and my friend were throwing a surprise party on the lawn of some house that wasn't mine.... bizarrio...

Hope Agnes and Bugsy and Maghee are on an upswing of good health.  Patrick, my sister's dog who had the TTA surgery, got his last x-ray visit yesterday and the vet remarked he is 90% healed and doing well - 8 weeks out from surgery date. yay!

Fiance just stopped by with a coworker for something he'd forgotten and Maggie was doing her "hi, i'm happy to meet you" dance because she likes new people, and the coworker kept yelling at her to stay down when she was petting her...Maggie doesn't, nor did she this time, jump up, she was just dancing...I always hate it when other people yell at my dog when she's being good...its like a stranger spanking your child on the playground...

:::makes note-to-self for next time I can't sleep:::

I'm ready to be out of here!  We're going to his family's for Thanksgiving tomorrow. I hate scheduling holiday stuff, that was a nice thing about being single. Seems like everyone wants to do stuff at the same time and to make it more complicated we have to factor in switching his daughter in the middle of the day.  I don't think Thanksgiving is such a biggie, my dad isn't going to be there, but we've got to get Christmas figured out.

Then hopefully it will have dried up enough so we can finish the shed on Friday.  That's the plan anyway.

Hope all those who are feeling bad feel better soon.

I dyed my hair Sunday a color I think I have done before, but decided I didn't like it, so I stripped it out. I've used the same stuff to strip a color before, and it just stripped it back to my natural color. I think this time, it appears to not have done that. It's not dry yet, so I can't tell totally, but I think I might have stripped my hair orange. I guess that means I'm going to have to put another color in tonight.

Orange is very much in the color palette for Fall at least lol.

Just be careful...I can tell you from my emo days in college (my hair was litterally every color of the rainbow) the dye/strip/dye process turns your hair into a crispy straw-like mess...my post-color ritual was, once the hair was dry, to soak my hair in warm olive oil, wrap it in aluminum foil, and let it sit for 20 minutes..then shampoo....my hair was so soft that even hairdressers couldn't believe it was home-dyed....though, the purple hue made them wonder...

If it's on your mind that your parents might pop in, this dream makes total sense. I assume you'd be thrilled to see them, so I'm hoping that you're right and sister isn't a nut job.

I'm really missing the days when we spent Thanksgiving with my family and I'm especially missing my dad this year Sad

Also, what's a good quality bourbon? There's a chocolate pecan pie on the Paula Deen website that I want to try making for tomorrow.

Let me quantify this by saying I don't drink - besides being a very light weight, between the meds I'm on and the Celiac disease, I can't.

Hubby can drink, and he isn't that impressed with the usual Wild Turkey, Jack Daniels, etc. There were a few recipes that hubby wanted me to try that required bourbon, so I researched the various flavors that the different manufacturer's are known for. I wanted the bourbon to at least contribute a good flavor to the pie and brownies he wanted me to make.

I found a website (it's not up anymore dangit!) that list all the different bourbons and the notes (flavors). I ended up buying a bottle of Woodford Reserve that has been a big hit in the pies and brownies I've made. Now granted, it was a $30 bottle (My mom's eyes bugged out LOL), but it has lasted through several years of baking. I wanted a bottle of Four Roses bourbon, but at the time, I couldn't find anyone that carried it. I need to replenish my baking liquor, so maybe I'll find someone that carries it this round.

I have to say, I've probably bought more hard alcohol than hubby! LOL But, I love to bake and make things for him. Even though I can't eat any of it, I want it to knock his socks off with good flavor, so sometimes I go that extra mile.

Lily has her head on my pillow next to mine trying to snuggle. Its very cute.

Its way too moist here too. We have had rain and lots of fog during the last 2 weeks. Not really typical of late nov. I'm trying not to complain though because I don't have to dress in layers to go outside!

I have no responsibilities for thanksgiving other than to bring cole slaw. Bob evans makes great cole slaw btw!

I'm going to make pumpkin bars later today.  I've always heard that it's good to eat a sensible breakfast on Thanksgiving and what could be more sensible than pumpkin bars (pumpkin is a vegetable) with buttercream icing and a big old mug full of 1/2 Baileys and 1/2 coffee.

ick.  I just found out I'm going to be cross-examined on Friday by opposing counsel to one of our files.

Now I'm so nervous lol I've never been cross-examined before!

Tonight Derek is going to take me out to pick out a christmas tree :D

Working here too, seems like there is lots to do and everyone waits til the day before a holiday to need something "right now" lol.

We will stay home this year, suits me fine, I prefer not to travel now and at Christmas.  Hubby is a little sniffley and I have just gotten back to almost normal since my bout with the cold so we opted not to spread our germs with his family.   I will do the turkey/dressing/gravy and trimming just for me and sweet hubby.  I really dont mind it he usually does most of the cooking so I enjoy being in the kitchen once in a while.  I love having 4 days at home to regroup before the Christmas rush.  I am not a  shopper so Black Friday is just a nice day to watch movies or HGTV, lol.  The kids have in-laws that request their presence so they dont stress about running to Arkansas too.

Oh my it has taken me an hour to get this much in.....these phones are ringing off the hook, lol!

I prolly wont get on a computer for the next 4 whole days so I will wish everyone a happy holiday.

Prayers to all my human and furry friends on IDog that this is a safe and healthy holiday!

    Re: Day before Turkey chat

to prepare to overeat tomorrow I overate at lunch today.  There is this local chain called Cookout, it is a drive through burger and such place.  I had the Burger plate which includes a burger and two sides I just had a double of fries because their fries are THE best and I topped it off with a peanut butter and banana shake.  They make like 30 different shakes all of which are essential slightly 'watered' down vanilla ice cream with your choice of add ins.  The add ins are fresh so my shake had a banana and some peanut butter blended in with plenty of straw clogging chunks of both. Ah it was yummy.  But now I am sleepy and DH will come home and say what's for dinner and I truly cannot think of food ....................
