We had a blast this weekend. It was a girls weekend in Winnipeg for my friend's birthday. We saw New Moon and did a bunch of other stuff. LOL, my friend Lesley doesn't drive in the city much though, and that was er...interesting. We drove on the wrong side of the road at one point. But all in all it was a blast. Got lots of shopping done for Xmas, and spoiled myself a bit. I got a new wool coat and 3 new purses...wheee! Plus I got a mud wrap at the Spa...heaven!
On our ride back we were watching movies in the van, stuffed in like sardines since 2 other girls joined us while we were up there and we had to cram 7 girls, our luggage, and a weekends worth of shopping into it. Anyway, a while into the second movie, the girls in the front seat, slowed the van down considerably and Lesley says,"OMG! What the heck is going on?!.... " at which point us girls in the back looked away from the movie to the road, but there was nothing there, just highway. "Is that plane gonna crash!?" So we looked up and sure enough there's a plane in the air, sprialling, black smoke streaming from the engines. Then it curved down and plummeted behind the treeline. By this point the van is slowed to a crawl, I'm trying to remember where the heck I stuffed my purse with my cell in it. Lesley is almost in tears, and its chaos in the car. Weird things go through your head when you see something like that. I'm in a van with 3 RN's and wondering what the heck to do about this plane that just crashed.
All that happened in about 30 seconds. and then as we're crawling along on the highway, stunned, Brit says,"Look! Its climbing back up. Its a freakin stunt plane!" I don't even know what my feelings were in that moment. Relief maybe? Happiness that I didnt just watch someone die. Then I was pissed, cause who the heck practices death spirals over the Trans Canada Highway?! I was honestly worried as we drove on, thinking that perhaps we should pull over and destress a bit. We were all shaking. It was awful. Its one thing to watch stunt planes when you know they're stunts, but something entirely different when you don't know.
Anyway, it made our girls weekend memorable if nothing else. I just wanted to share. Thanks for listening to my vent. Hehe!
