Yeah that is pretty awesome that they let him have a sleepover.  You must have a really cool vet for Brutus.  Sounds as if things are going better for him.  High retics are a really really good sign...as well as the fact there are less spherocytes being seen.  The fact that he is regenerating without destruction happening in the marrow is a plus plus.  I can remember when Tessy was in this scenario...some days she wouldn't eat and others she would.  I think the depression of being at the vets for days played a large role.  Her PCV post transfusion was almost 24 and then it dropped down to 18 over the coarse of approx. a week before it stabilized and started to climb.

Sounds as if Brutus is in good hands...both with his vet and you.

Give him some hugs for me.

Annie, you might want to ease off on the sassy vibes.  He growled at one of the vets this morning.  It was actually pretty funny, he growled & the vet didn't budge he just sternly told Bru "We do not do that.  Now sit down."  Bru look a little bewildered, but he sat down & let him finish the exam.  Afterwards, he hopped up & gave the vet a big happy butt wag.

This morning, he ate a little for me.  Then we went for a short walk.  When we got back, We did a little bit of training work with both he and Schatzi.  He wasn't really motivated at first, but when he realized that I was giving his food to her, he got motivated really quickly.  He ate really well after that!

His PCV is holding steady at 21%.  If it continues to hold steady throughout the day, he is going to get to come stay with us tonight.  I think that he'll be a little more willing to eat if he's here with us, instead of in a kennel.

Alright, Bru, ya might want to back off on the Sassiness.  How about you be a happy bean?  Ya, I like that better.  It would be so very awesome if you coud go spend the night with most of your people.  That way you can get all the kisses & luvins that you need to get better.  I'd like to add some luvins from me to those that you get tonight because, of course, you're going to have a sleepover with your people.

I can *so* picture his face when the vet told him that :o)

Brutus, I'm glad you've got spunk, baby!  But ease off the vets a bit, they're good people.  And eat up!  Have fun w/ part of your family tonight, b/c you are going to be good enough to go, I just know it.

I've been following you and Brutus with fingers and paws crossed.  I'm so glad that things are going well for him.  I've been to GCVS a few times, and I know that you both are in very good hands with them.  I really appreciated the devoted care to my dog, but also the way they gently treated me.  We've still got you both in our prayers.

I told you that you might have to play a bit dirty to get him to eat -- and trust me.  Competition is a GOOD thing!!!

Brutus -- buddy everbuddy is trying to help you!!  Just watch them -- you'll be able to tell the good guys from the bad guys pretty darned soon.  Watch how they treat your Momma -- then you know you can trust them.

They make you behave you'll know they aren't pushovers!! *smile*

     Great news Amanda

LOL Bru I bet along with that confused look you gave a good boxer snuffle noise - Campbell does that and it cracks me up.  If your mom says he's a good guy he is OK?

That is such awesome news Amanda!  I'm hoping I can get some service in Winnipeg so I can check in on him over the weekend.  Wish I had a laptop to bring with me...

    Keep it up Bru!

Re: Good thoughts for Brutus * Good update pg 9!!!

    He's home for the night!

As soon as we walked into the condo, he started acting like a starving fool.  He's eaten really well, & he had enough energy to go for a walk with us.  After our walk, we hung out on the deck for a while.  One of the neighbors walked by, & in typical Brutus fashion, he hopped up, stepped in front of me, sat his, now skinny butt, on my feet, & let out a low, deep growl.  When I told him to stop, he broke out into crazy butt wags, snorts & his kidney bean dance.  Now, he's tired & sleeping on the couch next to me.

He's goes back tomorrow for more bloodwork, but if everything still looks good, then he's going to get to come home for good!

Thank you all so much for all of your support.  I don't think that you'll ever know how much they have meant to me.
