New Year's Eve in Vegas Dress Help! (alieliza)

    Single girl life!!

I told you I'd be coming here for advice now that I am living a single girl life... lol. I hope you're all ready!

I am spending the new year in Vegas with an old (male) work friend of mine that I haven't seen in 6 years! Eeek! Now, crazy as it sounds, I am super excited for this trip for a couple of reasons: 1. Its been nice to reconnect with him, and though I am not looking for a relationship, AT ALL, I really value our friendship that is being reestablished, and its super safe since he lives all the way in Vegas. 2. We are going to spend the new year in a hotel/casino, which is really exciting for me because I've never ever been to a casino, let alone vegas. 3. I am able to do a lot more things now (for various reasons) and am totally loving that travel is one of them. 4. We are visiting the GRAND CANYON!! yay!

Our plans for the night are: Cirque du Soleil show, dinner at The Paris, and the rest of the night in the Casino at our hotel (I'm not sure what hotel it is, I'm not in charge of booking it -- I love that!) Now, because of the whole NYE in Vegas thing, I am in search of a new dress. Let me tell you, I've never celebrated the new year in style, and I don't know what to expect in this kind of a celebration... so... this is why I've turned to you all. I've heard that vegas does celebrating in style, so I need help!

Please help me find/choose a dress! Now, remember, this is single girl stepping out on the town in Vegas! (I'm crazy, I know!)

Here are some of the dresses I'm considering...

I could go with a plain black dress like this one

Or a more partyish dress, like this one... but I'm not sure if this dress screams "Bridal party!" more than "party!"

A more classic, albeit a bit boring little black dress.

A pretty, (but really short -- though also inexpensive!) lacey dress.

Now here is where things start to get interesting...

    A "pin up" dress:

    One of my favorites:

These next two I *love* but they feel sort of "workish", though I would NEVER wear these to work (I spend far too much time on the floor with germy elementary school children!)

    #2

I am definitely still looking, and am not 100% on any of these dresses, but please tell me what you think, and feel free to make any further suggestions!

My favorite is the strapless black one.  Can't go wrong with a sexy black dress!  Jazz it up with accessories to avoid the "bridal party" look.  Second favorite is the lace one.  The length (or lack thereof) is a bit distracting for me but if you have the legs then flaunt them!

I am super excited for you!! Enjoy every minute of this.

I like the first dress and the lacey one the best. Be sure to plan for some kind of wrap or coat because it can be very cold in Vegas in Dec/Jan. Also remember that you'll want shoes that are drop dead sexy but that you can stand to be on your feet in for a long time.

The lace one, definitely.  Makes me almost wish I wasn't an old broad.

That lacy one is fantastic! I also like the very last one, with the ruffles, but it does look "workish"

This one is my new favorite, for sure, but I just have to find it! Its from a past season, and I've found it in silver on ebay, but I prefer the black.... I'm going to keep my eyes out for this one. I think it screams vegas for NYE!

Oh that's my new fave!  Very classy but fun and sexy.  Love the black but it's not plain or bridal party-esque.

I like the pinup dress - definitely not *ordinary*, and you could dress it up with some vintage sparkly jewelry and a quasi-40's do, plus red nails and lips - ooh la la.  I think that the lace is beautiful, just not the dress I'd wear for a "reconnect" date.  I actually like the first one, too.  Very plain and sexy, and screaming for some way cool accessorizing.

I feel the same way. IMHO, the lacey dress is for the 3rd date Wink.
