I'm so very sorry... Dublin is now pain free and at peace.... *hug* I always loved seeing pictures of him when you'd post them. He was so gorgeous and looked so friendly and curious (I remember he used to like to roll in mudpits, if I am correct).. Those setters just hold onto your heart don't they? You and Dublin will be in my thoughts ...rest in peace sweet boy.

    losinsusan:

I know Callie I didn't do enough and I didn't even start to get going on the holistic end of things.  His clusters made it hard to not start the pheno.  But I do believe that with an endless supply of cash on hand things could have been so different for him.  I should have seen earlier than with his history of stomach problems that bromide might be too harsh on his digestive system but it did control his seizures so well.  And its hard to imagine only 4 weeks on it and it did that much damage so soon.   But two years of living with this amazing dog was still worth everything we had to do.  I would do it again in heartbeat.

Please do not beat yourself up about what you didn't do.  You did the best you could.  I tried everything with Bear, to the tune of about $4000 in seven months, and nothing helped.  We all wish we had endless money and foresight, but the reality is we do the best we can, which is usually above and beyond what your average dog owner does, and we still think it is not enough.  I, too, only had a little over 2 years with Bear and it's just not fair, but I also had to weigh quality of life issues for both of us.  Please give yourself credit for what you did do - including having the wisdom and love to do the hardest thing - letting Dublin go.  You don't owe anybody an apology or explanation.  ((Hugs))

Very true words... I know you're heartbroken, but don't do yourself double the pain by blaming yourself for a health issue that you could not control..

    Agreed.

Let your heart be a peaceful place, so that your beautiful Dublin can rest there in your loving memories of him.

I am so sorry for your loss, I feel your pain, you did the best you could I'm sure.  We spent almost 5,000 on our little April and still had to put her down, so money isn't everything.  If it is time, it is time. May he rest in comfort and peace. Warm Hugs for you.
