    Hump Day Musings

I like the idea of a pointless thread now and then, so feel free to expound on anything that strikes your Wednesday fancy.  I am sitting here enjoying morning coffee and wondering how I ended up having to work for a living when I'd really rather be independently wealthy and be able to enjoy life, but also donate to animal shelters and food pantries;-)

I want to know why I'm busting my BUTT getting an education degree, when there aren't going to be any jobs in education when I graduate. I should be working on this 'independently wealthy' idea.

I hear ya Meg.  I am in my 4th year as a sub.  It is depressing.  If I had a special ed degree I would be hired by now, but that isn't something I am interested in pursuing.

Also, I HATE being sick.  It's not the kind of sick where you can't move, just a sore throat and stuffy nose.  I NEED it to pass quickly.

Deb, you shoulda run.  You could whip that state into shape in no time.  And who'd mess with you?  Not anyone who knows what's good for them.

My son called me last night, said somehow through our state's website he discovered I have "unclaimed property" from a former employer, so I just filled out the form and am sending it in.  I'll be surprised to see how much it is.  Of course, it takes up to 6 months to get it.  With my luck it'll be about 0.30!

Not much else - my favorite co-worker is back from vacation, so it was almost 75 degrees in here when I came in.  Last week I overheard the other female co-worker ask her when she'd be back.  Wednesday was the answer, which got a big sigh and a whine - "how am I going to survive?"  For pete's sake, grow up.  I wish I worked only with men or dogs.  Some days I'm not sure if they are two hens or cats.

I am wondering how our receptionists can do so little and still mess it up so frequently.  Basically, what they do is help students setup the wireless network (which they do well) and help people fill out paperwork when dropping off a computer (which they do poorly).  It's so simple, you make sure the person is actually a student at this college, you ask them to fill out ALL of the information which I have now encircled with a thick blue line on the form, you put in a work order, and you tag their stuff so I know whose is whose.  Sounds so easy when you might have to do this twice during a two hour shift (the rest of the time they are reading, chatting, or doing homework).  But no...everyday I get stuff that is not tagged, I see computers that have sat on the shelf for weeks because no work order was ever entered (basically I do my work orders in order so I lookup the name on the next one, walk over to the cabinet, and find the computer tagged to that person....if stuff sits there without a work order in my queue I have no idea).

I often think that I was born to the wrong family. I should be the sole heir to some mega billionaire. No working, never ending shopping, maids, chefs, travel, the list goes on and on! Screw the little people!

Dealing with women at work is always hard imo. Cliques, gossip, jealousy. It can be the same as high school. I try to avoid it as much as possible but avoiding it also makes you a target sometimes. Itd be great if dogs were the norm in the work place. They diffuse stress and tension!

I have mtgs all day today and tomorrow. Tonight is abbies CU class. Very excited. Tomorrow night is sar training. Hopefully the weather will be ok

I am so proud of the good people of Virginia, & New Jersey today.

Deb, I totally agree with Tina, you should consider running.  Heck, I would even falsify documents to come vote for you! Stick out tongue  (You do still have the "get out of jail free card" right?)

Lies, our reception staff is like yours.  I walked in yesterday & was met with "Good morning Mrs. H.  You've already had two phone calls this morning."  Two calls to the reception area means new clients because my regular clients all know to call my secretary or my cell.  When I asked for their names & numbers so that I could return the calls, I got a vacant expression & "I didn't get their names or numbers."  Angry

I woke up this morning & took one of the horses out for a ride.  I always let the dogs run along with us, & this morning was no exception.  Unfortunately, Chyna pooped out before we got back to the barn.  She sat her happy butt down, & refused to move.  I ended up walking back to the barn, carrying Chyna, leading the horse.  Thankfully, it was only about 1/4 mile walk.  FWIW, Chyna's butt is going on a diet!

I am about to take Lola & Bev for a hike.  Bev still can't run, & Lola is way to focused on the little guys to trust her with them in an uncontrolled enviroment.

I'd move back to Jersey to be able to vote for Deb for govenor for sure.  At least there'd be plenty of vodka about.  ~L~

I have my, hopefully, final foot appointment today.  I tried on a Birk type shoe last night & I could get it on!  I might be able to wear fairly normal shoes for NOLA.  A pair of sneakers would be fine.  The boot is just not quite my style.  I'm afraid that the fashion police will be after me soon. ~L~

    Re: Hump Day Musings

I'm home sick :(  i got driven home from work yesterday by a co worker because i became so sick so fast.  Derek brought me to the flu assessment clinic (the hospital i called told me not to go there as there is such a high risk with patients already there) the clinic is run by the emergency doctors and is beside the hospital.  I have the flu.  They don't know whether the regular one or h1n1, and won't tell unless i go for a blood analysis at hospital and to go to hospital temperature would have to be 38.2.  Last night mine was 37.8.  but it has signifcantly dropped

I am laying in bed.  blah feeling, and it looks like a drug store on my nightstand.  Derek takes such good care of me :)

I'm musing about how people can be so creative in finding excuses for their own laziness.  If they would put half that effort into getting something accomplished rather than explaining why they aren't responsible.......

    - aww, you poor thing!  I hope you get well soon!!!

I'm slowly building the courage to ask the guy at work if he wants to go to the Broncos game with me on Monday.  I barely know the guy, but he's funny and the other women at work have all mentioned what a good guy he is.  Today we've talked about our travels and where we'd want to travel next.  Not the easiest transition into "Hey, ya wanna go to the Broncos game with me?"

Went out to dinner at the Capital Grille last night.  I had no idea where we were going, and I showed up in jeans.  I had fillet Oscar for the first time - good thing I chose a great restaurant to try it at!  Yummy, and I'm not all that big of a crab legs fan!  I love when vendors take my sister out to dinner and I get to go - free expensive dinners = yay!

How are Buddy and Maghee and Agnes and Bugsy and... whomever else has been down recently?

    Re: Hump Day Musings

I am so pissed off right now. I work in homes with kids, and someone is supposed to be supervising me, and giving me a plan to follow. Generally, these plans suck, because these people don't know what they're doing, but that's another gripe for another day. Anyway, my paperwork on one case keeps getting bounced back to me because the person who is supposed to be supervising me and writing the plan hasn't done that. So, I just keep turning it in blank. Well, the great part is, now they are trying not to pay me on some of it, and claiming I turned it in late. Umm... no, I didn't. I turned it on time, but after the office was closed. We're supposed to be able to slide it under the door. Well, I guess that means now ,  I will have to make sure I actually take it in during business hours, so that someone will actually see me walking into the office and signing it in. Talk about pissed off Super Angry

Oh, and to top it off, she wants me to come in so she can show me how to fill out the paperwork correctly... Umm.. I know how to fill out the paperwork. I have another client through this company, and I don't get his paperwork bounced back, so I obviously do it right. I have a client at another company, and that never gets bounced back to me either. The only time I have gotten stuff bounced back was because someone above me didn't do their job, and didn't give me a plan so I could fill it out properly.
