So she is in her new home safe and sound and this is what they say:
The trip home went fine. We stopped at McDonald's for lunch about halfway home and we gave her some hard food and water. She didn't drink anything but she ate some food for us. When we got home, she didn't give us any trouble going into the house. She went out back and pooped and peed for us. She made herself at home on the couch when we went to bed. She's really a sweetheart. She kept following us around all night and nudging us with her big nose until we pet her. I don't know how anyone could get rid of her. She is just full of love. We had her on a leash all night and when the cats came out (of course they had to be curious) she barked and tried chasing them but we held her back and told her no and she stopped. We'll get her used to them. Right now we have them closed up in our bedroom while we are at work. We'll take them out and introduce them a little at a time. I think it'll be fine. We also gave her soft food when we got home last night, which she scarfed down. She was trying to bite her sore on her paw but we kept telling her no. We gave her some chew toys to keep her busy so she doesn't chew it too much. She slept most of the day yesterday once we got home. She was pooped from the long drive and the medicine. When I got home from work today she greeted me at the door wagging her little nub. She seemed so happy. Everything is so far so good though! Thanks again for letting us have her.
