Ghosts, ghouls and goblins Mindless chat

    Happy Halloween all.

We had a weather front moving in over night that really messed with my sleep.  I alternated between being way too hot and way too cold all night.  When I went outside this morning it was around 74.....15 minutes later it was 65 and pouring rain.  The sky looked really wierd too but am thinking it was just the rain.  Hope so anyway.

It was supposed to just be overcast this morning with rain moving in later.....hopefully the rain will move on through so the kids can have their trick or treating. It's really early, so I'm hoping it does its thing and goes.   A group in town does a costume contest and then trick or treating where they close off one of the downtown groups to make things really safe for the kids.

    Hope everyone enjoys their weekend.

My puppy class starts in an hour, yet I am here instead of getting ready to go.

Lola had a good, non-destructive night.  I think that I'm going to let her join Brinxx & I at the training center.  She can hang out in the ex-pen & take in all of the sites.

Apparently, the possible dober pups deal has feel through.  I really didn't need a litter of pups here anyway.  I just hope that they are warm, safe, & happy.

I have finished all of the flower arrangements for tonight's party.  DH has 12 more pumpkins to carve, & then we are officially done with the decorations.

Hope that everyone has a great day!

    Amanda

Re: Ghosts, ghouls and goblins Mindless chat

I just finished making cupcakes for halloween/friend's birthday on monday.  I will ice them later, once I decided what kind of icing to make.  I should probably go and supervise FH while he cleans the basement or who knows where the junk will end up. heheheh.  we are going to our friends place after dinner tonight to hang out for halloween, so I will need to find our costumes at some point today.

the weather is so strange here too.  yesterday it was around 9-12 for most of the day but when I was on my way home it was 17 degrees out and stayed that way overnight until early this morning.  it cooled down this morning and is just super windy today.

and me the grinch, I will be SO happy to see the end of today.  I don't *do* Halloween, not ever, not at all and *this* year everyone everywhere has just been nuts about it.  It is EVERY-where, maybe cos it's on a Saturday and most folks see it as harmless fun.  *sigh* (no *VERY BIG SIGH*)  (sorry, all - I have a friend whose parents are in a coven and it is a very very sad sad story and it took every ounce of 'fun' out of it for me)

AND we get to set the clocks back tonight RAH!!! (I hate daylight savings time, I never *ever* get used to that hour being taken away).

So tomorrow will be better.  Tonight David and I are going out for a *nice* dinner so we aren't home when trick or treaters come and tomorrow we have tickets to a play.  Then I can quit hiding and begin being friendly again.  LOL

I took Kya to a Howl-o-ween fest at the training center.  She went as a flapper girl.  We had a good time, and got a bunch of treats.  There were some really cute costumes:  Elvis, Surgeon and Patient, killer whale.

The only negative I saw was someone took a double dilute 6-week-old dachie and her double dapple dam.  First of all breeding double dapples ticked me off (and giving out her number for pups), and secondly there is NO WAY a six-week-old has necessary vaccinations.  No matter how adorable, the pup should have stayed home.

I'm hoping to get a bunch of housework done before trick-or-treaters come.  The girls both have cow tracheas to work on to keep them quiet.

Re: Ghosts, ghouls and goblins Mindless chat

Happy Halloween everyone (except Callie - for you, just happy Saturday). It really doesn't even feel like Halloween here. It's a gorgeous morning though and the sun is just starting to rise.

I went to this amazing spa yesterday with my friend. I had a facial but we spent about an hour before our treatments just enjoying all the therapeutic pools they had. It's nice to experience how the rich people live sometimes :)

We're going out to dinner with the same friend and her husband tonight and we're going to a restaurant that looks out over the ocean. Our reservations will have us there in time for sunset. Should be very nice.

Only one more day here and then we fly home on Monday. I might feel sad when it comes time to leave but I'm feeling a little homesick and we're both missing the dogs right now.

Hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween.

Re: Ghosts, ghouls and goblins Mindless chat

I'm with you Callie - I'm really not much of a Halloween person either. Every year I try to convince myself to be with all the parties and everything, but I'm just not into it. I do like pumpkin festivals (not the crowds), the food vendors and all the pumpkins. This year, with it being so hot, I didn't even go to the festivals.

I did get a big pumpkin at Fresh Market yesterday and will try to get a couple of pics with the girls sitting next to it before I process it tonight. Then Abbie & Layla get their baths and that's it, I don't even like to be out on the roads with all the craziness......

We shouldn't have any trick-or-treaters at our apartment complex since they did their thing Thursday night. One thing I do look forward to is all the discounted candy the day after!!!

Re: Ghosts, ghouls and goblins Mindless chat

I'm usually really in to halloween. Its one of my fav holidays. This year though, not so much. I'm not in to anything lately actually. Kind of feeling blah. I'm sure it is all this constant rain and the end of summer. I'm taking lazy and procrationation to a whole new level though and need to snap the heck out of it! I usually have a lot of energy and like to keep moving!

Ok sorry for the pitty party. I think I need some light therapy. I'm sun deprived!!

I am SO BEYOND HAPPY about getting that hour back.

BF and I both need it, he stayed out WAY late with a bunch of guys from his cop school class and it was ''all-you-can-drink'' night at the bar they went to, so he indulged, a lot. I've been down with a sinus infection yesterday and today, so last night I finally fell asleep around 12 (I can't sleep when I'm congested, ugh!) but then woke up around 2, fell back asleep, and then Poop-For-Brains came home around 4. He got a ride home from their DD but of course didn't manage to have his keys...no housekey...so he managed to CLIMB onto the balcony and let himself in the slider in our bedroom. Of course he was SUPER loud on the patio, dragging chairs around and stuff to get up there, so Pirate was barking his fool head off. Then he 'had to shower' (WHY??) and was just as obnoxious, lights on and whatnot. Once he was finally quietly passed out in bed, I fell back to sleep - and then his freaking cell phone alarm went off at 6am. W.T.F. Poop-For-Brains was too intoxicated at this point to get up and turn it off, so I had to get up. Again. Around 7, he rolled over and nailed my nose with his elbow. At this point, I figured, screw it, and got up.

I let P.F.B sleep until 9-ish, and then I sent the dogs in and threw a handful of dry cereal all over the bed. Bwahhaha.

I got a haircut, today, and it's actually kind of cute. My sister has always cut it, so I don't really get it cut often. Since she moved to PA I think I have had it cut twice! I had a BOGO coupon for Great Clips that was on the side of the cereal box, LOL.

The dogs and I are getting ready to go to the Halloween parade - BF is taking Tiki the witch to the shelter's booth, since he's on the board of directors and has to put in an appearance. I'm taking Pirate the pumpkin with a group from the new doggie daycare in town - since they're my new part-time job :) I figured we better go. Hopefully they both behave.

Re: Ghosts, ghouls and goblins Mindless chat

Old fart that I am, I've never been much for Halloween as an adult.  But, then, the only parties I've ever been able to go to were all radio station "listener" parties, so not as much fun as they could have been since I was always "working" at the party.

However, I did love Halloween when the boys were little.  We would ALL dress up and have a lot of fun.

Someone PLEASE explain to me why twice a year they have to mess with my body clock by playing with the clocks??????

I LOVE Halloween, this year I kind of forgot about it though.  Oh well.  I love costume parties any time of the year.  Dressing up is so much fun and all the scariness is great too.  If I lived in town I would for sure be making a haunted house for the kids to wander through.

I am thrilled to get the hour back as well!  It will be very well used :)

Me too!  I've always thought it would be better to make the change in the fall on Monday instead of Sunday a.m.  I could use that hour more on Monday than on a day I could sleep in anyway.

Rest in peace, sweet Leroy.  Our dear dog friends back in NH, who own the Bull Terrier show dogs, have put their Giant Schnauzer, Leroy, to sleep today.  They are in shock, and so am I.  Gracie was the only dog he really played with, because he had dog aggression issues, and lived with two BTs who wanted nothing to do with him.  I need to go tell her he's gone.  Feeling bummed out...
