    rw-Lo, it begins...

*sigh* Lily has a friend's phone #....they've been calling each other every day. Her friend sent home a paper with lines to put her name and phone # on, and the paper (info sheet??) noted, that she was a girl, and that she was "cool".

Is this friend a boy or a girl?

Don't let Lily find out what a "slam book" is.  I found out when I was in maybe 5th grade, and that thing became a monster.

That's why I only had boys! I was one of 3 daughters and seeing what my Mom went through with us, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. This is just a warm up to the BIG stuff. It only lasts until they move away to college. LOL!

little girl. She is always making these HORRIBLE giggly noises and such on the phone...and she lays on her bed kicking her feets, like she's in some sitcom....*urg*

And I was never "in" the cool column and was prolly in the slam book and wasn't cool enough to know *about* it -- only that I was persona non grata.  So to be honest -- I don't think it's easy for any one because kids are so unbelievably cruel -- not that older ones are any better, they tend just to be cutting in more socially acceptable ways.

I feel your pain Gina ... when I was a 5th grade teacher I had a whole class of it ... *rolling eyes*

The only *good* part of it is that this friend IS a girl - it when the friends are actually boys you gotta start to really pop the Tums all the time LOL

My friends and I used to have marathon conversations on the phone...literally 3 hours on the weekends.  Before call waiting and cell phones my Dad was trying to call my mom from the road (literally pull off the freeway and stop at a pay phone) for 2 hours and kept getting a busy signal - we got call waiting the next day.

Add to this, I have two sisters we are all the same.  My poor parents!!

Count your blessings Gina!  At least Lily lays on the bed to chat.  Kale marches around like he's really gotta pee bad, whenever he's on the phone!  Its enough to drive you batty!  I tell him, SIT DOWN or get off the phone!  So he will perch himself on the edge of the couch for about 8 seconds, then he forgets and he's up and pacing again.

And be happy, its just one kid for now.  Kale has about 4 friends that call all the time, and one of them lives right next door!  The other is across the street and over 2 houses...sigh.  Plus there is one kid that shows up at work all the time because he got comfortable there with Kale this summer, and figures he should be there all the time.  But he's a liar, and I hate liars.  Especially when they're young and no good at it.

LOL! I am SO not a phone person. I love to text because you don;t have to TALK to anyone LOL.

I seriously have almost a phobia about the phone. I have about 5 people I am comfy talking to that way and if it's a "job" like at work when I worked it's no issue but lawd...those acquaintence or distant relation calls, or even casual friend calls KILL ME.

I'm the same exact way. I  hate talking on the phone. It feels like a chore.  Sometimes, unless it's a family member or work, I just let it go to voicemail. And I hate listening to voicemail. (ha, sorry 'bout all the complaining). I much prefer texting or just talking in person. I always thought this was so strange but now I know I'm not the only one! Yay.

Me too, me too.  Phones are the debil.

My sister and I got our own phone line when we were in grade school.  Though I honestly don't remember which came first, it might have been in response to my sister calling Romania.  Yes, you read that right.  She was VERY into gymnastics and Nadia Comanche and such.  Well, dad used to get these notebooks from work that had international calling info printed in the back and Lana found a number for Romania.  I was excited too so I ran into the living room to get on the other line and dad asked who we were talking to?  "Lana's calling Nadia!"  To say she got the chewing of a lifetime is putting it mildly.  And the bill came out of her allowance.

She was the huge phone talker, not me.  I would talk on it sometimes, and it was always good fun to trick her friends into thinking I was her because we sound so much alike.

Another member of the 'anti phone' group.  Text/IM/etc or in person, por favor!  Its to the point that I've had some of my friends tell me that I sound uncomfortable when I'm on the phone (um, b/c for the most part, I am)  its not as bad w/ some people, but for the most part, I just try to get off the phone asap.  But, I do remember that I wasn't always that way, used to be on the phone quite a bit as a teenager.

    Have fun Gina :o)

I happily join this bandwagon.  I hate talking on the phone.  My co-workers can small talk anyone on the phone but not me.  I sound so darn awkward and stuff.  And I rarely talk on my cell phone.  I have over 4000 roll over minutes and they've started dropping off.....

Here too.....I have to talk to people all day at work, I dont do the idle "chit chat" from home, very very few people have my cell for emergency only, in fact it is always in my purse.  I call my mom once a week and talk to my daughter on a regular basis but I am usually the one that says, Well, I gotta go, time to feed the boys... or do the laundry....or somthin, lol!

Gina... when I had a 12 year old daughter and 13 year old step daughter in the house it was awful, thought I would not live thru it!  But happily I did, and now I have so much fun watching them go thru the same thing and call me to whine...lol,....PAY BACK TIME!
