BTW, don't be surprised if her stool turns black or is smaller than usual.  I hate the stuff, so I never give it to my dogs.  My vet suggested Pepcid for my hound, so I don't have to give him anything that always made me puke;-)

My mother used to be a dietrist  in a Hospital before, she was in charge of planning which foods each person needed to eat while in the Hospital due to their condition

For diarreah she used to plan plain toast for the patient, toast is not greasy whatsoever, is filling for the stomach and for some reason the body does not feel the need to "get it out" as often

So thats what i do with Chuck every time it happens and works like a charm. He is happy because he is full, the toast is not heavy on the stomach and he barely poops

I dont starve him because he gets moody :)

We do Pumpkin here.  I always have it on hand.  And even though Crusher hates it when he's feeling fine, he'll eat it right up if he has an upset tummy.  He just knows it'll make him feel better.  He's had enough experience I guess.  He had a rough puppyhood, tummywise.

The vet told me to give Luke half a pepcid when he came home from dealing with stomach issues. He's about 13.5lbs. Regularly, I do pumpkin when we're dealing with stomach issues.

But, the dogs just got an upset stomach, right?  I thought pumpkin would work for SOME dogs for diarrhea which has nothing to do with the stomach.

Um...why does diarrhea have nothing to do with the stomach?  And it seems to work for Crusher no matter what is wrong with his tummy.  I give it to him, if he gets at something he's not supposed to, and I want to prevent issues, like yesterday when he ate half a loaf of fresh baked bread off of my counter...sniff.

Re: Need some info on Pepto for upset tummy - update

Just an update. Keela is doing fine today. Was perky and bouncy this morning. Actually, she was doing her "I'm going to die from starvation" dance drama that she does every meal time. I'm serious, this is one food obsessed dog. LOL

Stool was a little black this morning, but normal in every other way. She doesn't look puffy anymore either.

    Thanks everyone for your input!

Well, somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but diarrhea is an issue in the intestines, not the stomach.  As far as pumpkin goes, I've heard it sometimes works for diarrhea and/or constipation.  But, I've never heard it used for the stomach.  If it works great, but that wasn't the use I've read about.

I'm glad to see she's better!

That face is what got her in her predicament yesterday! LOL Everyone was smitten with her. She was hamming it up for everything she was worth. And it is very hard not to say no to that face!!!!
