That is truly sickening, Lies.  You're definitely doing the right thing by reporting it.

    Re: Mindless Hump Day

I stood in line for an hour for my flu shot.  Met some nice people. :)  I heard on the radio that a police dog is lost here.  He works for a little area town's police force but was at Lackland AFB when last seen.  They train all the military working dogs at Lackland.  It's a Malinois and the radio guy described that as a GSD with eyeliner.  WTH.  I hope they find him.  I can't help but wonder what happened and how he became lost.

I'm in such a crummy mood today.  Good thing I won't be at work much longer before my dr appointment.  I'm not making many friends around here.  No patience today with dullards.

Deb W - Congrats on your 25 years!!!!  Even better that the boss is acknowledging it with a special outting!

Tina - I hope Agnes is feeling better soon.  So tough to watch that girl suffer, I'm sure..  Extra belly rubs from Auntie Paige.

I'm freezing my butt off again - woke up to snow.  Did I mention that I was sunbathing in 83 degree weather Sunday?  Today was the day my sister returns, so I left her truck at the house, thinking she'd need to drive it to work.  Means I get to walk to/from the train and bus stops in this mess.  My fingernails are blue.  Woe is me.

My friend who was induced yesterday morning didn't have her baby until 3:43 this morning.  8lbs, 7oz boy named Chance.

Gracie's littermate is owned by a beautifully sweet woman in New Jersey who was widowed a few years ago and lavishes all her love and affection on her Dobes.  Connie also took on the ownership of another Dobe Rescue dog, when his original adopters made a move to someplace exotic like Costa Rica and they feared for his safety.  In fact, our mutual trainer first suggested that I should take "Sticky" and made arrangements for us to meet.  It wasn't meant to be for us, but Connie took him sight unseen.  She had him exactly 3 years, and he suffered a decline that started this past spring with a presumed poisoning from Nutro dog food.  She helped him cross the Rainbow Bridge yesterday, and is understandably heartbroken.  Rest in Peace, sweet Sticky.  You were a well known Dobe for your gentlemanly attitude and pleasantly obedient nature.  Connie & Lilli will be missing you, but will never stop loving you.

    Re: Mindless Hump Day

Liesje sorry about your 'sticky' situation but you are right to turn that in.

Karen keep me posted about Bugsy's surgery. He will be fine, it is a tough thing to face, BELIEVE me I know. You know the day Teddi had her THR I didn't even know. At first I was mad as hell, but then I realized I didn't spend the day worrying about her. Long story short we left her not knowing if the surgery would be the next day Wed (not likely) or not until Friday. All went well there too. At least they called me Hmm

Don't get me started on buying jeans! Every time I find a brand and fit I like the next time I need them, they don't have that style anymore. I LOVE Levi's but I can't get them like I like anymore. GRRRR

I am tired today. I have agility with Belle tonight, however I kind of just want to be a couch potato at home.

My puppy is not born yet! I WANT TO KNOW IT HAS BEEN BORN Embarrassed that is all

Paige - I'm very sorry to hear about Sticky. That is very sad indeed.

    How is your dad doing?

I went to the gym at lunch and halfway through my workout I had one of my funky low/high blood sugar surges. I felt all shakey and like my legs were going to give out on me. It's such a crummy feeling and especially when I'm not somewhere that I can grab a bite to eat. I came back and inhaled my Lean Cuisine turkey lunch and feel better now. I had my normal oatmeal & yogurt for breakfast but I also had 1/2 of peanutty granola bar and I'm guessing that's what did it. Blech!!

    Re: Mindless Hump Day

    Agnes, feel better, sweetheart!!!

I am POOPED - spent aaaaalllllll day planting garlic for BF's mom. Garlic growing is her big hobby, so she has all these fancy types that she buys one year at $6/bulb, plants, and then keeps re-planting to have enough for next year. So, if we didn't plant them now, she wouldn't have any for next year and would have to buy them all. She typically plants about 1,000 garlic plants, so that would be serious $$! So anyway, a friend of hers and I spent the day planting garlic. It was not my favorite job in the world, but the friend really liked Rascal, so that was nice. Rascal had a great time having a "yard" (he was on a long tie-out) and investigating things like deer poop, delicious grass, and stone walls where chipmunks live. And I've been mooching off of all this delicious homegrown garlic for years, so it's time for me to do my share of the work.

While I've been helping BF's mom I've also been trying to work on training their boxer. That dog is SO obnoxious. He barks, barks, barks to get attention when he is confined. When he's loose, he's soooo rambunctious that he acts like a super-hyper puppy, only he's a huge, full-grown boxer and is leaping up in the air and body-slamming you. BF's mom is a wonderful person, but she's one of those who thinks that dogs should train themselves (not really willing to put in the repetition and consistency necessary for "real" training) so the dog has very very minimal basic obedience. They typically just yell commands over, and over, and over at increasing volume, and then occasionally reward good behavior with treats (always showing the dog the treat first). Most of the time they just yell a couple things and then give up. SO annoying. We've been practicing "stay" and "go lie down" and ignoring the crazy barking for attention. It's amazing how after only 2 days of consistency he's so much improved. I really hope BF's mom will keep at it. He's a super sweet dog but really a pain to be around most of the time. He just never had puppy training (they got him as a 3 year old rescue 2 years ago) and the family assumes that since he's a full-grown dog, he should magically be fully trained. Um, no, you have to put in the time to train him first! Sigh.

Liesje, bummer about the creepy computer stuff. You'd think people wuold have more sense!

Karen, lots of good thoughts for Bugsy. I do think the surgery sounds like your best bet. You poor things - I bet you are both way sick of this by now!!

Deb, how was your $$$$$$$ diamond whiskey? Big Smile

    Re: Mindless Hump Day

Courtney, Thank you so much for taking the time for BF's mom.  As someone who recently needed help from others, your help is much appreciated.  I hope she heals fast & well.  Please don't wear yourself out taking care of her though.

Tina, please give Miss Agnes some lubbins from me.  I only know about eating grass, not dirt.  I hope she's feeling better soon.

Karen, I have an idea of how you're feeling.  When I thought of the Peanut being cut to fix his patella, I got the same sick feeling.  Just know that you have a ton of support here.

Deb, conrats on 25 years with the same company.  Any more that's a real accomplishment.  It's well worth drinking the expensive vodka.

Lies, I just got the heebeejeebees just thinking about what you find on computers.

Paige, please pass on my condolences to Sticky's people.  He sounds like he was a pretty special boy.  Run free Sticky!!

Today started off with a run to see Dr. P for another Lasix booster for Maghee.  I asked him if I was asking too much of her to stick around for a little while more.  He said no.  She's fine & as long as she's eating she's okay.  When she's not having breathing problems she's her normal sassy self.

Then ta-da-da-daaaa! 1:10 arrived. the cast came off, I went in for x-rays & I got a special shoe.  I wore shorts to my appointment since I wasn't sure if I might get a new cast or not.  Plus it was  also 75 degrees today.  PERFECT shorts weather.  I don't always think ahead but this time I did & took my shaver with me.  I shaved my casted leg in my car.  I was going to celebrate with a pedi but that will have to wait until next week.  It's still sore.

Congratulations!! I can only imagine what a relief it must be to have that thing off. You should celebrate with some new shoes. Check out the red ones in the "outrageous" thread Wink

    Run free, Sticky.

Courtney, I'm glad that you're helping out the MIL, & helping train their dog.  Boxers are great dogs...when they have manners.  Otherwise, they will annoy you to no end.

Annie, CONGRATS on being cast free!!!!

I have good news, bad news, & weird news.

The good news....Brutus is "normal" according to the behaviorist.  She agrees that he needs work on his self control, & that he is protective, but she doesn't think that he is blatantly aggressive.

The bad news....Bevo's re-check didn't go as well as I had hoped.  His left leg is beginning to atrophy again.  It is about a half an inch smaller than his right leg, & although it isn't obvious in his stride right now, he does have a bit of a hitch in his stride.  His knee felt "funny" to them, so they recommended x-rays.  Their radiology dept couldn't get to him today, so  I opted to have my friend shoot the x-rays & email them to Bev's doctors.  After the drive back home, we went to my friend's clinic & shot the x-rays.  She has deemed his knee "normal" as did his other docs.  Then she decided to do an ultrasound on it because it feels "funny" to her as well.  The ultasound shows 12 separate tears in the muscles around his knee.  Both she & his internal medicine docs have decided that he needs to be rested for, at least, 4 weeks to try to keep him from damaging his knee further.  We are going to re-check him again after his time off to try to determine if the atrophy is caused by the tears, or if he is relapsing.  I'm sooo hoping that the problem is just tearing of the muscle.  I'm not looking forward to the next four weeks.

The weird news....My stalker underwent a psychiatric evaluation.  They confirmed.....he's crazy.  Schizophrenic to be exact.  Apparently, I met him while we were on vacation in Corpus Christi in March, & we fell in love there.  Then he followed us home.  I have been obsessing over how he picked me, & how long he had been following me so this was, in a weird way, a relief to hear.

Well, doesn't that just explain it all?!  Nice to hear.

Poor Bevo.  Resting for 4 weeks is gonna be tough.  Best of luck.

I posted a thread in the Breeds section on Dobermans, asking for info, if anyone has anything they'd like to share....wink wink.

I really shouldn't be on the computer tonight, but I think its too late.  Sigh.

Oh Amanda, I'm so sorry to hear about Bevo.  I know nothing about Wooblers but is this possibly one of the symptoms of it?  You are both in my thoughts.  Maybe Karen has some extra Valium for you.  That's awesome news about Bru & scary as crap about your stalker.

Um, Cathy, I appreciate your suggestion for the shoes but I twisted my foot while wearing flat shoes. Can you imagine the damage I'd do to myself if I wore even tiny heels?  EEK!! ~LOL~

Since getting gold bead implants, his wobblers seems to be very much under control.  The only time that he's even the slightest bit wobbly is when he's very tired, & he rarely tires.  The docs don't think that wobblers is his issue right now.

Along with wobblers, he also has myositis that is, in his internal medicine specialist's opinions, caused by his von Willebrand status.  He's a carrier, which is usually no issue at all except that for some reason his body feels the need to attack von Willebrand factor protein.  For some reason it is his left rear leg that's affected.  Last time, he was on prednisone for five months to get him back to normal.  That's why I'm hoping that the tears were caused from his normal, day to day stupidity.

Essentially, my dog is a lemon.  I really, REALLY love my lemon though. :)

Me, too... that sucks.  I'm going to be hopeful that the doom and gloom you expected for Brutus that turned out not to be, will happen the same way for Bevo... that he will be a-OK.  You, after "resting" him for 4 weeks... probably not so much, but, we know you're more than willing to suffer through with the Doberboy.  Hugs to you and the B.

Thanks for the condolences for Sticky, I will pass them on.  Congrats on getting the cast off, Annie!!  Wooohoo  (Even though you did make it look pretty w/the butterfly and gems.)

Tonight I made my first high-altitude brownies, now that I live in the Mile High City.  I tried to come up with a joke about "high brownies", but nothing is working so far.  I'm taking submissions...  I know there are more than a few creative minds who will come up with something.
