Mindless Chatter - Monday

    Mindless Chatter - Monday

I'm finally getting over this nasty cold. I still have all the junk though - stuffy nose, etc. but my energy is slowly coming back

The guy I have been waiting for to throw me under the bus finally did it while I was out sick last week. I KNEW that he was waiting for the right moment. You know when you just get that feeling about people? That they have to stab people in the back to bring themselves up? Well, he did it good! I am going to speak to my boss about it today. Oh, and I'm going to speak to the guy too and tell him that I don't appreciate him undermining me. So, lovely day ahead of me today.

The weather is supposed to be perfect though. Near 60 and sunny. I should mow my lawn for the last time this year.

We have tomorrow off work. I can't wait to go vote. Not so much for the president, because my little vote doesn't much count on that one, but for leaglizing pot and stem cell research. Must vote on those!

    Thank you.

The 2goes2far people have really gone TOOO far!  I'd vote against them even if I didn't believe in stem cell research.  For those of you outside of Michigan, Prop 2 is the one for stem cell research.

And prop one?  Good heavens, my pain doc in CA suggested I use weed to relieve some of my pain.  I do now and then when it's really bad, legal or not.  While I try to get regular botox injections for the muscle KNOTS that feel like bone they are so tight, it's very expensive, and right now I don't have insurance.  But, good heavens, here I am a matronly type woman in my 50's trying to "score" now and then so I can stop suffering and actually function.  And there are plenty of folks way worse off than I am who can really benefit from a toke or two.  And the ANTI folks....good grief they showed strip mall store fronts with papered over windows that were allegedly "Canibis Clubs" in CA.  Funny.  I lived there and never saw the first one.  Again, using a canon to squash a skitter and that sort of thing just makes me want to vote AGAINST whatever they are for.  Or not for.

So yeah, you're right, my Presidental vote isn't going to mean much, but at least I can maybe make a difference on some of the proposals.

I agree Glenda, I'm voting YES! And as for weed, honestly I don't even care if people use it recreationaly.  It's not like it's any worse than cigarettes.  I say legalize it b/c then we can bank on taxing it and getting income taxes.

In my state, our props including making "marriage" mean only btwn a man and a woman... again.  It's already somewhere else in their laws, but not on their constitution.  Also get the funny one of "if someone doesn't cast a vote for a particular item, then it is counted as a No vote" (bwaaahhaah!).  There's also reform the Pay Day loan laws.  Another one that allows people to sue homesellers even if they never bought the house.  It's aimed at builders doing shoddy work, but it's open to any homeseller.  There's also one to revoke the business license of anyone who knowingly or intentionally hires illegal immigrants.  It's an interesting state.  I have no idea who I will vote in for local offices because I've been too busy figuring out these props.

I feel icky today.  Calgon take me away.

*sigh* I can't vote - I'm to young. And, thank you all for bringing up weed....LOL....that's why I'm doing online school this semester. Why couldn't they make it legal about 6 months ago? Stick out tongue

Today I must do school work. Then I'm going to take Sam out for a walk/training.

Now just sit back and try to understand how frustrating it is to not be able to vote!  I'm not a citizen yet.  I wanted to get the paperwork and all in for it a while ago but with the adoption stuff going in also we were told it would be too confusing.

DH is away this week, today until Thursday.  He was home all of last week.  I just can't figure out if I like him home all week or gone for a couple of days, I like my space but I miss him if he's gone too long.  I'll probably never find the happy medium....

    back to month-end.

I feel for you - only reason I'm not voting is because I'm 16, but it's still frustrating!

LOL. I know exactly what you mean. My DH is on the road this week too and I do like some of the alone time, but I miss him after a few days or if I have a bad day and I can't curl up with him.

In really sad news, our foster dog has been returned to the rescue because he bit his new owner. The rescue R&P state that dogs with bites have to be put down and I am just beside myself because he could totally be rehabbed, and now won't get a second chance. He is only three years old. He is here with us being spoiled rotten until Thursday when DH and I will take him for the appointment. We are having him cremated and he'll have a resting spot in our yard come spring time when we can plant something for him. This is the worst part of rescue.

PPA, I'm SO sorry about your foster.  At least his last days will be spent in happiness with you.

I don't work until 4 today, so I'm making liver training treats for the dogs.  And feeling very glad that the election is tomorrow, it'll finally be done!

I just looked outside - so much for a nice walk! It's all gray and cloudy.....no fun! Oh well, Sam and I can play in the back yard...

I'm glad the town hall dosn't close the ballots until 8 pm! I'll have just enough time to get there after class tomorrow night! Our first ballot question is my main priority! The state wants to tax every beverage but plain water, ie..flavored water, beer, wine, sodas...etc. all for Dirigo Health which I oppose.

#2 is something about another indian casino that will not bring any profit to my area but possibly to the state? I dunno on that one.

#3 has something to do with 3.4 million to protect drinking water facilities and another thing to do with leveraging 17 million for something or other.....? I have NO idea....I'll have to ask my dad!

Other than thinking about the ballots, we had a HUGE dumpster delivered like the biggest one you can rent (our landlord is paying for it) to clean out the house. It's a long story but this house is my boyfriends grandparents house, but now that they have both passed on my boyfriends boss owns the house and land now due to a contract his grandparents signed many years ago. Well we have to be out of the house by June 30 of next year, so we are working on cleaing out the house. We also have to find a place for their old tractors and equipment. So we cleaned out bedrooms and the porch and some sheds all day yesterday and made a huge dent in the work ahead of us. Which is always nice.

Today is so beautiful out I think I will hook Lily out to get some fresh air while I clean out my car and pick up around the house. It's about 50 degrees! Such a blessing compared to the cold windy weekend we had.

I'm waiting for my college to call me back with the price of the one book I need. I'll be driving all the way to Bangor for one class this mod which really stinks! But I was on a waiting list for anatomy and physiology but unfortunatly no one dropped the class. Oh well I guess, one more class closer to getting my degree!

I'm soooo sorry to hear this and can't imagine how difficult it must be for you. How very sad. Sad

Today was my 1st day back after vacation last week. We had a great time visiting my brother and SIL in Carmel and the weather was perfect. Man oh man, there's a LOT of money in that little town!!!

I was greeted with 256 emails and a stack of snail mail several inches high. I've managed to wade thru most of it, but the next few days will be busier than usual with catching up on everything.

I mailed off our absentee ballots on Friday and then was reading something on Saturday and realized I'd probably messed up on one of the propositions. It would allow drug treatment vs. prison for those convicted of a drug-related offense. Apparently the loophole is that someone could've commited a serious crime, such as assault, but they could claim they were on drugs and avoid prison. Ugh, hopefully there aren't many people like me who misunderstood what the implications might be.

I had a CT scan in September and was in the midst of switching insurance so now all the charges and insurance stuff is messed up big time.  Today, I called the hospital and after some clarification of some details they went to bat for me with one of the insurance companies.  The woman I worked with was soooo fabulous - she kept me in the loop on everything today, they're writing the appeal and sending it in, pretty much doing everything for me!  I'm def sold on which hospital is my preference if I ever need treatment in the future.

I'm currently sorting out what kind of ballot I'll be voting tomorrow as I moved recently and there's some confusing language that I need to figure out.  Doesn't help that the voter registration number is busy busy today.  Darn my procrastinating!

pit pointer aussie, i saw about your foster in another thread.  I am so sorry for you and for this dog.  Glad too that he will have some good times with you and your DH.

Twister is totally recovered from his tooth extraction on Friday and back to his sweet, terror er terrier self. LOL

All of our propositions are very confusing except one.  Term limits for city council members and the mayor.  We imposed term limits eight years ago because of all the corruption and insider deals and now they want to get rid of them.  I don't think the voters will fall for this, hope not.  I will be standing in line tomorrow to vote, I kept putting off early voting and now will pay the price.

My Mother died of cancer in 1980 and we got her some weed to help with the nausea from the chemotherapy.  She was quite upset at first because she was a good Baptist woman but we convinced her and it did help her.  Legalize it and quit making criminals out of decent people.

I made the best pan fried pork chops ever from a Cook's Illustrated recipe.  It's in the latest issue.

Thanks folks. I keep reminding myself that his life was best these past three months and his last days are being spent with his friends -- both K9 and human.
