Too skinny? I'd like to hear what do you think...

The reason I posted so many photos is to ask all of you, what do you think... Is he too skinny for a beagle?! I've been hearing that quite often, mostly from other beagle owners, but to me, their dogs look fat and mine is just as he should be...

He's not fat by any means, but he's not horrible thin either. I think that he looks perfect, and completely adorable to boot!

Amanda is spot on...he looks fine. Not thin...not fat like MANY, people's hounds seem to be. I keep mine fit and trim....people really don't know what to make of it most times LOL.

Agreed. I can see a shadow of ribs, and that's perfect. He's beautiful!

Heck no, not at all. he looks great! I know what you mean about fat beagles, we have alot around here too. Don't change a thing. He looks very happy in his field too.

Another vote for "perfect and adorable" here. He looks like he's in excellent condition.

I get "your dog is too thin" about my Lab from other Lab owners ALL THE TIME. I know how hard it is not to say "no, he's fine, your dog is pretty fat though" when it happens. As long as you're happy with his weight, and his vet is happy, then just ignore everyone else. You are doing a great thing for his health by NOT letting him become overweight. I think with certain breeds people are so used to seeing them fat that they assume that is how they "should" look, and the owners of those fat dogs have no option but to assume your dog is too thin because if they accept that he's perfect, they have to admit that their own dog is far too chubby.

P.S. I love that "this is not running" picture too. LOL.

Nope, looks perfect to me and absolutely adorable. I agree with Gina, most people have beagles that are too heavy so they don't know what they are supposed to be.

I get "your dog is too thin" about my Lab from other Lab owners ALL THE TIME.

Too many Labs are fat. When people do see a fit and trim, in shape, Lab, people think "OMG she's starving that dog!" when really it's just healthy! I have seen many SHOW Labs that are fat!

I admit my own dog is on the heavier side of a normal weight (the vet said 100lbs-110lbs is good for Apollo's frame and build). He's 110lbs. But (in my defense) when I got him he was SKINNY- unhealthy skinny. It took about a year to get weight on him and I finally like the way he looks. He does drop 5-10lbs in the summer.
