What foods can you not stand? (piedpiper522)

Wow.  I'm surprised at  how many people hate seafood, Chinese & Mexican.  I could happily live on those.

No seafood/fish/anything that came from the water. (or as I like to call them: seabugs and their little friends) I can't stand the smell at all.

I've never been a huge fish fan anyway, but once had a situation as a child where I made tuna salad that was too 'tuna-y' and that was that for me. Nothing fishy since then.

There are other items of funky meat:venison, rabbit, duck, veal (yes, I know it's beef :p)  that I haven't tried, just won't ever try and that's that, but I can't say that that I 'don't like' them, I'm just never going to try it out to see :P

Some of these responses have me cracking up!! Food that looks like a small tree, sea bugs and their little friends... :D

Here are the foods on my "do not eat"list:

Cilantro- YUCK. The very taste of it makes me gag and I can taste it even in very small amounts.

Brussel sprouts- They smell like sweaty feet.

Oysters (raw)- The slimy texture would make me throw up. I'm practically gagging as I type this.

Celery- I just can't stand the way they smell and taste.

    Raisins- Same as above.

I cannot have seafood (any type) around me, oh I get ill.

I don't like red meat, it has to be cooked fully throughout, no pink.  I prefer burned steak than steak that is pink

Also, the same as someone above, I don't like the food on my plate to touch, it got to the point that I used to use a sectional plate to keep everything properly divided.

I also don't like apples unless they are sliced up.  I don't know why, but I hate the feeling in my mouth when I bite into an apple. lol

re: Taco Bell - I got food poisoning from them 3x! I will never eat there again. I should have stopped after the 1st time! You don't know hell until you're puking up taco bell nachos.

    Here's my (short) list:

Raisins - dehydrated fruit is not appealing to me... ick!

Coconut - makes me gag unless it's in a macaroon

On the other hand, I love brussel sprouts! Steamed with a bit of margarine.... yum yum!

...Oh, and my food can't touch!

My sister is the same way! It's so funny. If her husband mixes things up on his plate, she exclaims, "You're breaking the rules!!!!!!!!!" It's mostly a joke but it does gross her out.

I hate seafood with an undying passion. For me, the smell is the worst part, and it's hard to live in a place where people worship fresh shrimp, crawfish, and crabs.

And as a general rule, I also hate vegetables, especially the fart-like smell of cauliflower.

    Mexican food (and im mexican)

WHAT?????? That goes against all the rules in the universe Stick out tongue  just like if you were italian and you dont like pasta or asian and you dont like rice (if the only one you have tasted it is Taco Bell then is fine, thats not really mexican)

I forgot to say that i also hate these:

I can't think of many foods I WON'T eat.  Lima beans and Turnip aren't my favorites, but if served, I'll eat them.  My mother was an "adventerous" cook, and I didn't even realize until I was adult that not everyone eats liver & onions, pea soup, asparagus, or brussels sprouts.  I guess as a child it never occured to me not to like food that was set out on the table for me to eat. Of course, there was never really a choice.  Supper was supper, eat it or be hungry, no big deal.

Now my neice, on the other hand.....when she was an infant, her mother would feed her baby food squash, all the while saying, "I know you don't like this honey, I know it makes you gag, but please eat it for Mommy." All the while Mommy would have a disgusted look on her face.  I'm sure you know the rest of the story.....the neice, now an adult herself, hates squash!

    *Okra

    *Liver

*Stuffed grape leaves-  used to love them, but had a bad experience in college after consuming a lot of red wine.  I dont remember much from that night, but ever since, the thought of grape leaves makes me gag!

It's a sauce and spice thing.  I hate red sauce, white sauce, any sauce.  My mom contributed to my pickiness.  She would make my food without the sauce.  We had mexican food many nights of the week and mine was always made special.  What a spoiled brat!  I can eat up some tortillas though.  Fork?  What's that?  I ate everything with a tortilla.

I kinda get the sauce thing.  Why do they ruin perfectly yummy asparagus with holondaize (can't spell tonite) or brocolli with cheese?  My ex wouldn't eat a veggie without sauce and my kids flat out wouldn't eat veggies til I dumped him, and the sauces.

That said, I make a KICK butt salsa and salsa verde!  Yummmm.  And I'm SCOTCH for goodness sakes!

    Okra - Slimey, nasty, gross!

    Cilantro - Tastes like soap.

Dried, shredded coconut - Reminds me of candle wax.
