What dog chow do you think is best?

Beniful is pretty bad stuff.  I'm pretty sure that NB has canned in the allergy formulas.  If you've switched to NB for allergies you aren't helping one bit by putting something like beniful on top.

I was kind of thinking the same thing.

well, my dog is fairly small and doesnt eat a ton of dog food, so we decided awhile back that the cost of his food didnt matter, i have never heard of innova, where would i find it?
also if theres any more suggestions on a great food for a bird dog (he doesnt hunt but he's hardwired to be one) i would love to know because i worry about him getting enough nutrition from his food since he doesnt eat very much of it.

Zoe is small... 10 lbs. and loves to chase birds haha.  I too was feeding Iams at first because that is what she had been on in the past.  After researching it, I switched her to Innova ([linkhttp://www.naturapet.com]www.naturapet.com[/link] has a store locater where you can get it... and if you email and ask for a sample, they will send one).  Zoe's coat got so much shinier and softer... and it was shiny and soft to begin with!  It was so nice my neighbor pet her and went out and bought the food the next day so his dogs could be like her hehe.  I now use Canidae too... but when this bag is done, I will go back to Innova again.

You said price is not a big deal.... I found Innova 16 lb. bag to last me about 4 months... so at about 5-6$ a month... I agree it is not a big deal.  I wish I could eat that cheap!

I tried Nutro, but my elderly dog didn't tolerant it well.  The last food I used (aside from home cooking) was Deli Fresh.  I think it's a fairly new product and is refrigerated rather than canned.  Because my dog was small, I divided it into portions and froze it until used.  It's the first dog food (apart from home cooking) that I found to actually smell like food.  (Not that that should be the deciding factor. [;);)

WE have been feeding Jake Innova, even lowered his portions, but he still has runny poops, thinking on changing his food.

Maisie eat Naural Ultramix and a few healthy table scraps (chicken, rice, bread etc.) and does very well on it.

I feed my doberman nutro-natural choice (high protein fromula).  I know this isn't the best, but I also feed him cottage cheese, yogurt, raw eggs (shells), veggies, raw pork necks, raw chicken backs, probiotics and fish oil.  He does great with this way of feeding.

I feed my corso puppy nutro-natural choice large breed puppy (controlled growth formula).  I also give him extra's. Cottage cheese, yogurt, raw eggs (shells), veggies, probiotics and fish oil.  He is doing really good on this feeding routine.

I personally think all raw food diet is the best way to feed your dog.  Dogs are built to eat meat, not grains.  I used to feed my doberman all raw, but it is expensive to do.  If I could afford it I would go back to raw in a heart beat.  It is easy to feed raw once you learn how to.  Learning is not hard either.  It can be time consuming feeding raw, but I am a stay at home mom so I had the time.
