Believing Forwards and Chains?!?

Why oh why do people believe and still think every forward they receive is the voice of god and must do what it says or die?

Aright, so I finally get enough nerve to send the forward gaylemarie posted a few days ago ([linkhttp://forum.dog.com/asp/tm.asp?m=248247]http://forum.dog.com/asp/tm.asp?m=248247[/link]) as a forward to my Mom, "the forward queen". It wouldn't be so bad except that my Mom gets easily offended when you point out the obvious.

Well, today I get a forward from her about dangerous lipstick that can kill….[8|] Not only is this forward BS but probably the lousiest written chain I've ever read, so unbelievable. Thinking this was a joke to get back at me for forwarding such an evil message to her (and giving my mom more credit for being skillful), I ask if she thinks the whole lipstick thing is true. What a surpize when she told me yes, she really does believe what was in that forward…she even threw away a few of her own lipsticks because they were on the list of brands that can kill... why!!! [8D]

I never believe chain letters; and I don't send them on. I delete them, because they annoy me. Here's a helpful website: www.truthorfiction.com You can find out if certian rumors or stories are true or false. It's really interesting to read some of the ones they have and to find out what they're about.

As far as real mail goes I always keep my junk mail even though it#%92s just annoying junk. My first year of college the only mail I did seem to get was junk and being away from home it made me feel that at least someone was thinking about me even if all they want is the money I don#%92t have. I think that because it was directly addressed to me that makes me feel like I#%92m at least responsible to give the sender some credit for finding me. Now if it#%92s older than a year it gets tossed of because after that long it would seem like it doesn#%92t matter anymore. I never really read any of it, it's more like confort food for my mind.

The worst are the forwards and chain letters on my phone! I want to say, "unless you are paying for these text messages, don't send these!!!"

Oh I couldn't stand the text messages on my phone! I think that because I have a hispanic last name I got an overflow of textes in Spanish! Errr...I had to put a block on textes on my phone because it cost me 25cents for every one I got, was like $5 extra a month because of that, I don't even send textes out myself.

I have a BIL that does that. I open the mail to find 40 unread messages, and I can be sure that 35 of them are from him - chain letters, warnings, you name it and he sends it. And sometimes he forgets he sent it, and I get it again. [X(] And again. [X(] I do believe that if I delete it instead of forwarding it, nothing terrible is going to happen. And if I aggravate someone else by sending it to them, nothing good is going to happen, either.

DH is a computer guy who battles spam in e-mails at his job. He HATES these chain letter things and I will only pass something on if it's a really funny joke. In fact, I often send a note back to the person who sent the letter to me telling them how these things clutter up the servers and cause so many computer problems. Or if it's just a hoax thing, I'll send them a snopes.com link to the story. I haven't tried that other site, I'll give them a look.

What a good idea, that might help some. I'm almost sure my mom would get tiered of getting thoes e-mailed to her for every spam she sends me and just plain out stop sending me that kind of stuff, it's at least worth a try.
