    Tuesday chat

well crud - I took B to the lake, got home and unloaded the car, went to turn it on. No power.

So DH says its the battery but it went from fine to dead so likely a starter motor or something. So I have to call the dealership and sort it out.

    Boo hiss

    that's all

bummer Karen, not a fun way to start a day.

It's so quiet around here this morning. The birds are chirping and the neighborhood is still sleeping, I think. It's nice!

I took off work to do a search yesterday, so now I'm doubly behind.

Lily keeps trying to sneak licks of my coffee. She doesn't realize she is playing with her life. Her little butt wiggles and showing me a sock in her mouth isn't going to get her off the hook.

Karen, that has happened in my mom's car and I think it was the battery, but I'm not sure. We drove it to lunch, went inside and ate, came back out the car wouldn't start. Of course we had my niece with us, and my mom had to take it for a tire once and she freaked out that they took the car. So, I took her and walked across the street to Petsmart so she wouldn't see them taking the car away.

Kohl's sent out coupons in order of the royal baby. Umm... I'm not a subject of the British Crown, so the royal baby makes no difference in my life any more than some other kid who was born in England yesterday, or any kid born anywhere else yesterday. Not that the kid even makes much a difference to any of the subjects anyway. Obviously they aren't going to leave out the front door of the hospital, so why the hell the news crews are standing there I don't understand.

Hugh Jackman is going to be on GMA tomorrow though, and that is important to me.  I'm quite happy the movie is opening at 10 on Thursday instead of midnight. I'm going to see it, yay! Then we're off to Gettysburg for the weekend for more flyball. I'm going to try to have fun, but I am disappointed to be competing back home with our team, because the team we were with over the weekend was so nice, and so low stress. I can really go with the run clean and let the other teams screw up philosophy of this weekend.

Luke is finally going back over to visit his friends at the nursing home. My work schedule has kept him away for a few weeks.

    hahaha

well DH got it started - so when I called the dealer they said they didn't have time to book it in today AND if its anything but the battery its nearly impossible to diagnose after its been jump started - hmmmm

ah well its moved from blocking our other car for now.

    Lily, don't risk it! lol

Karen, I've had batteries die with absolutely no warning.  I hope that's all that's wrong.  Not fun to deal with no matter what the cause.

Humid here and already in the low 80's.  Sad  I've got a meeting downtown today so I tried to get my hair under control with some goop to keep it from frizzing so bad.  I don't like the smell of the stuff I put on it and want to go home and wash it out. lol

I got clawed by a feral cat on Sunday because I was stupid.  One of my forearms is hurting and red and swollen.  I'm debating going in for some antibiotics but I don't think it's requires it.  Yeah, maybe I'm in denial. lol  I'm wearing a lightweight long sleeve shirt so people at the meeting don't think I wrestle lions in my spare time. Tongue Tied They'll just think I'm insane for wearing long sleeves in this weather.

I am probably the only one on this board who rather enjoyed hearing about the royal baby, I know.  But it's part of their long heritage and I appreciate that!

Just want to share a funnie about kids that my DIL posted on FB (because I can't really laugh at it on FB).  My 6 yr old granddaughter was using the potty and got stuck in it!  Carrie was almost ready to call 911 when her Mom popped in, and they got Allie out with some soap!  I wonder how long she will be scared of that child-eating monster...

Any time Kohls sends out 20% off coupons, I'm game whether it's the royal baby or just because it's Tuesday.

Jackie, you may recall my DS's run-in with Moose the cat resulted in 2 antibiotic shots and 10 days worth of antibiotics. That was a bite wound as well as numerous deep claw wounds on his arm. Just keep an eye on it.

Not much else. Truth be told, I'm bored today.

Jackie, did you put some antibiotic lotion, such as polysporin on the scratch? That might be all you need. *crosses fingers*

Karen, it might not be your battery but it might be something attached to it, such as the distributor.

We all slept last night, thankfully. I'm still feeling stressed about my daily routine with DH out of town and the dogs get the brunt of neglect, after the housework. Monroe will not poop in our yard, only during walks or at the park. Poor thing just won't go! Meanwhile Morrison pooped all over the driveway.

    Ugh.

Jackie I told you feral cat scratches weren't to be messed with!! (because I have such experience of feral cat trapping, not) You should see someone tomorrow if its the same or worse. Get some neosporin with pain relief and see if that helps - I think they even have a spray version now.

Marty I am happy about the royal baby - like they said on the news last night, its like knowing that some baby born today is destined to be President. That little babe will someday be a king.

And yes I know it could be the distributor cap, the starter motor, the wires, the alternator - which is my concern. I will be disappointed if the battery is toast after normal usage on 2011 with 32k miles but I'll be pissed if the battery is replaced and one of the above is the problem so the new battery is ruined.

As I am sure we all do, I hate mechanical issues. Cars should just work! Wink

I just renewed my license online, but I didn't print the photo card right away. Now I can't figure out how to do it, so I have had to call the state dmv to figure out how to do it now. My wait time is greater than 6 minutes. Thanks state, that is a very descriptive estimate.

Karen - I've had the battery go out on every new car I owned. My Lexus had far less miles than yours when it went out. I've been told that they don't use a high quality battery in new cars. I hope it is the battery since that would be relatively cheap and easy.

I too was excited about the royal baby. I really like Kate and William and couldn't be happier for the 2 of them.

Jackie - I hope your arms feel better and you don't need to see a dr.

I'm super sore from working in the yard yesterday. I ran out of room in the green waste can or I might've done more. There's so much that needs cleaning up and many areas that we want to completely redo. I'm really sad that the water feature the owner put in the front entry is such a dud. It just basically overflows water from the top of 3 pots but there's no visual or good sound affect to any of it. DH says it might need a stronger motor but he really wants to get rid of it. It's a shame since the owner just installed it in the last few months.

Lily, stay away from the coffee!  I chuckled though at the butt wiggling with a sock in the mouth - Ari tries that same ploy to get herself out of trouble lol (or a shoe, or underwear, whatever is handy hehe)

I've been burning the candle at both ends at work and it's starting to catch up to me.  Trying to run this office, just me and my boss, isn't cutting it.  We have a part time office assistant now, but she's still in training.  I keep reminding myself she'll be up to speed soon, and then hopefully I'll start feeling a bit of relief.

On a more personal note, a few months ago I finally decided to be put on medication for anxiety/depression issues.  Glad I did it.  I had to get used to not feeling like in crises/flight - or fight mode 24/7, but it's rather nice to not feel keyed up to the point of breaking all the time.   After the initial side effects wore off, there's been no side effects which is nice.  I feel more like the old me from many many years ago.

Sharon, I'm glad the meds are helping.  Been there and done that.

Tina, I do remember very well the incident with Moose and your DS and the picture of his wounds. Sad Mine aren't anywhere near that bad.  I am keeping a close eye on my one arm that got the worst of it.  I cleaned them up as soon as I could and put Neosporin on when I got home.  I've been clawed by cats before and I expected some level of pain and infection.  I do want to avoid a raging infection so if things get worse I'll definitely go see the doc.  Mostly I feel embarrassed that I was so stupid.  I don't know what I was thinking trying to put a feral cat in a crate.  She seemed so sweet until I opened the back of my vehicle. Like they say, it's all fun and games till someone ends up in a cone.  lol  That's why we were given traps.  Duh.

Our a/c at work isn't cooling. At first I thought I'd developed a fever and was going to call the doctor.  Then I looked at the thermostat and saw it was 10 hotter than where it was set.  Checked the unit and it's freezing up.  Checked the filter and it was filthy. Too bad no one every does routine maintenance on our unit.  lol   Once it thaws out it should be fine.  I hope it's not 90 in here by then.  I'll really look lovely at the meeting this afternoon.  Red, clawed arms, sweaty and frizzed up hair.

I thought the media onslaught was horrible.  No one should have to have such a personal event turned into a circus no matter how much the public wants to know.  I guess that's the price they pay.  Princess Diana paid the ultimate price as far as the media being crazed to bring every little facet of her life to the public.

edited to say to Marty that I am not against people being curious or wanting to know what she had, etc.  I just thought the media was totally insane from the pictures I saw yesterday on the evening news.

Sharon, I am glad you got on some meds and they are working!

Jackie, I hope you don't get an infection from the cat

I'm really super annoyed with a work situation and have to take a break to take a few deep breaths before I type an email or make a phone call that will come out harsher than it needs to. (although the situation does call for a bitch slap). Maybe I will quickly vacuum and feel better after then I can return to work with a better attitude.
