I don't have much to add either. DH finished the ramp he's been making to help Jessie get on and off the front porch. Sometimes she's reluctant to go up and down the steps (she's going to be 15 in a few months). He did a great job; now we'll have to get her to use it. Yesterday we went to our granddaughter's birthday; she's 14.

Wow, I think this is a first other than when the forum was down. I hope everyone is having a fun, busy day.

I had a dog walker's meeting out at HB, so that was fun. They had one of the new dogs at the meeting and I left really appreciating how mellow Shane is. This dog never, ever quit running. He'd run and splash in the kiddie pool, run out and then grab a ball and run around with it for a few min's and then back to the kiddie pool and on and on. They having him evaluated by a SAR group because he's so ball focused and so high energy. They did one eval on him and liked him, so I hope that works out.

DH got off work and spent a few hours installing the new pool lights. It was hotter than heck and now he doesn't feel good. I know he feels like he needs to get so many things done asap but I worry that he's going to end up sick or hurt if he keeps up this pace.

A girl at the meeting had a super cute pair of Keen sandals on. I've been looking for something cute but functional for dog walking, etc. and these look perfect. REI wanted $80 for them but I found them for $61 on Amazon, so I ordered a pair. That's a lot of $$ for me to spend on casual shoes but I'm tired of wearing flip flops everywhere.

I love keen sandals. That reminds me I should do some shoe shopping ;p

It was sweltering hot here today and we worked at an airport with the dogs. First we got to play around on a medivac helicopter, learned how to clear them for landing and all that jazz. Then we worked in a hanger with live and dead finds. Abbie tag teamed with a hr dog and they both did great. I am aways on guard when she is around dogs but she didn't give a rip he was working near her. She was off leash and working which are our requirements for success ;p. Anyway, I had to leave early and go to my mom's for her bday but the rest of the group got to go work a plane wreckage site. It was super hot though (96* with no shade) so each dog was only allowed 15 mins to keep them from heat stroking. So even though I am bummed I missed such a great training opportunity, I am not all that upset given the temp.

I spent the rest of the weekend at my friends with the tree house. We went out on the boat yesterday and relaxed the day away.

My niece and nephew were the cutest ever today. I think my sister was drinking when she got them ready to go to my mom's. My nice (1 yo) had a frilly gaudy pink tutu on and my nephew (5 yo) had a purple spiked Mohawk lol. I actually love it that she is being so liberal with them. It will be interesting to see how they grow up. I told my nephew he rocked and high five him then he went up to everyone in the house and said "I rock!!!" it was too funny.

I was going to start chat earlier but got distracted.  Squirrel! :)

It's been super hot but some sort of weather something or other has cooled us off from 100 to 85.  The rain went around us but this cooler evening is nice.

I'm glad to hear Jesse's got a ramp.  What a talented dog dad to make her one.

Cathy, I hope your DH doesn't keep overdoing stuff around the new house.  I understand wanting to get it all done but not if you kill yourself in the process.  That dog at HB sounds like a great candidate for SAR.

I don't know why I decided cooking a brisket in the oven was a good idea when it was so hot today.  The a/c is just now catching up thanks to the cooler temps.  The brisket was good and we'll have good sandwiches from the leftovers.

another Keen lover here - I have been using Chaco's more than Keen's lately though

Julie the search work sounds awesome (and very hot) as does the rest of your weekend at the tree house

Janice I got Bugsy to use his ramp with the clicker - I tried treats at first as I was told to put them at even steps along the way but he stole them off the side LOL He's crazy though so she may take a more reasonable approach and be fine. It does take some getting used to from what I have heard. He was fine pretty quickly and we have used it ever since for getting in and out of the car. Just don't get discouraged if it takes a few tries for her. Please kiss her nose for me!

Cathy I hope that dog makes it in SAR

LOL Jackie Steve asked for a casserole - I laughed and said I will not be turning the oven on. Any other requests?

We actually had the sun break through around lunch today - it was so very exciting. they said it wouldn't rain again until Wednesday

Then about 6:30 I guess it poured Tongue Tied

May be tomorrow it won't rain Smile

Also meant to say that I went out and bought cold/cough meds so I can sleep tonight - had another night of constant coughing and no sleep.

Meanwhile DH has developed man-flu. Ready to kill him today Stick out tongue

Two kids, ages 1 and 5, out of the house DRESSED? I'd call that a success. lol. Seriously, before I had kids I thought my kids would always have cool outfits. And then they were born. Wowza do they have their own little senses of style. Smile Seriously, though, I try not to push too much on them. We do get a lot of hand-me-downs, but other than that they get to pick out a lot of their stuff. Willa is my little sporty cross-dressing athlete. She hates girl clothes and will rarely wear anything pink or purple, with ruffles, bows, etc. She is really into the boys' athletic gear like dri-fit shirts. I won't buy anything full price but have found a lot at garage sales, on the Kohl's clearance racks, and at TJ Maxx.

I was busy all day. I checked earlier from my phone and saw no thread.

Speaking of Keens, I need a new pair.
