    Eating Ants

Ok, what next?  Freida is watching, tracking, catching and eating ants.  I know they must either sting her, or bite her, because she shakes her head and almost spits, but she continues and eats them.  She now watches the ground for them. Crazy.  She even follows them through the grass.

I have tried telling her let it, but it is like she can't resist them.  Will they hurt her if she is eating them.  And why would she - bored.

Maybe it is time to write a book on what puppies do, I am still shaking my head.

I guess it would depend on what kind they are and how many she's eating; some ants have a mild toxin. You may want to ask your vet. I saw her pictures in the photos section and she is so cute!

I live in the land of "red ants" which are poisonous and miserable.  They can cause quite a reaction -- that one bothers me just reading it.  But it *would* depend on what kind of anti it was.

Well, from what I see they are black ants and some with red mid sections.

Why is she doing this, is it just a game to her?  It goes along with any thing she finds she eats, leaves, sticks, grass.  Puppyhood is lasting a long time and still more to come I am sure.  (I will have to keep a stock of balls on hand, that is her favorite toy at the moment.)

    thanks guys
