    Sleepy Tuesday chat

I am very sleepy this morning - I don't think it has anything to do with the dreary weather. Confused

Loads to do today but I totally want to go back to sleep. Apparently we have two more days of heavy rains, how can this be?

Bugsy is READY for what I don't know but he is READY.

I am typing with his giant head on my hands - not easy

Stay cool. Stay dry. Joyce I am still in shock. Julie have a better start to your day. Hmmm

    have a good one everybody

sorry about all your rain Karen. That does get a person down :( I feel like I live down south lately. It has been wet and humid here too (but chilly rather than hot)

There must have been a mosquito in my room last night because I woke up with 3 new bites. One on my knuckle. Those are the worst!

I'm pretty sleepy today too. yay for working from home. I have lots to do and this will keep me from getting interrupted constantly.

The NWS confirmed that a tornado touched down in the town next to my Brother and moved west into his town and another town even further.  He said the path of the tornado came within 1 mile of his house.  Yikes !!  He said they had some downed trees and lost power for a bit but everyone was ok.  I think Mother Nature needs to leave the Atlantic coast alone for a while !!

Sending good weather vibes to everyone.  Deb, that's crazy scary about the tornado so close to your brother's house.

What's the drink of the day?  I need one or two!

Yikes Deb - that was scary close for your brother. I know our heat is mainly just an inconvenience but man, am I so done with it. This is the 1st morning where it isn't at least cool when I wake up. There was a smallish grass fire yesterday that caused about 50,000 people to lose power. That included my SIL, her MIL and SIL. It was back on in a few hours but I know it must've been miserable. I offered to have them all come stay here but the power had come back on by the time we talked.

I'm actually looking forward to going to work today where I can crank the AC down to frigid temps :)

Yipe Deb -- tornados are SO scarey.  It's not like you can get out of their way -- by the time you 'hear' it -- it is ON you.

Julie -- it's amazing how much damage one darned mosquito can do.  Poor Tink -- one was shadowng here last night and every time I moved to kill it apparently it felt the change in the air current and dodged it.  I finally got the danged thing but she was convinced Mom had gone looney

Karen -- I hate feeling tired like that.  I've got way too much to do today to feel this sleepy.

Popping by to say hi!  I try to keep up w/ what's going on here, but I keep falling behind.

Joyce, just ready yesterday's thread, wishing you an easy recovery.

Not overly sleepy today, but I am always up for a nap :)

I'll take two of those!  They sound delicious.  I hope you don't get rained out tonight and have a blast.  I'm going to have that song stuck In my head all day. :) Good thing because I like it.

Yes, that drink looks yummy and refreshing. Makes me wish I was on vacation on a tropical island. Have fun at the concert. I saw Heart many years ago and had a great time.

DISH was working again this morning and all the recordings were back. I emailed what we should do with the new receiver they were shipping and they said just refuse shipment. Yeah, great but we rarely see or hear the UPS or Fed Ex person. I know DH will be thrilled when he gets home and finds that he didn't actually lose the Tour de France recording.

Saw an interview with one of the wives of the firefighters that perished. They have 4 children under 6 yrs of age. Her husband would've been glowing with pride watching and listening to her. Made me cry to imagine what she and her children must be feeling. :'(

I saw that interview, too, Cathy.  That one and the one with the Mom who said she heard her son's voice last night saying he was okay . . . talk about heartbreaking interviews.  That whole community must be reeling from the destruction of the fire itself, and now the loss of so many beloved residents.

That drink looks and sounds fantastic, Deb!  At at 90-something degrees today, it would be very refreshing.

We saw Heart a few years ago at the State Fair.  Due to a mix-up with our tickets (the Fair issued doubles on some seats), they gave us folding seats right in front of the stage.  It was insane.  DH said, "I feel like I can look right into their nostrils!"  They sounded great.  Ann Wilson has one of the greatest female rock voices ever.  If you haven't seen it, check out the video of Heart and Jason Bonham performing "Stairway to Heaven" at the Kennedy Center Honors last year when Led Zeppelin was honored.  It's worth watching the whole thing to see the band members' emotional reactions when they hear the amazing performance.

I've got a project here to work on that isn't very appealing.  But I best get to it.  If I want to take Friday off, I need to finish some things by tomorrow!

Busier than a one-armed girl hanging wallpaper.

Glad your brother is okay Deb.

Joyce, holy cow! Glad you're on the mend.

Normally I can keep devastating world events in perspective, but I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the tragedy those firefighters suffered. I am terrified of fire and to die so horrifically is beyond comprehension. I am so thankful for the men and women who can do that job.

Wow!!!! That was great! Thanks for sharing the link. Stairway to Heaven was always a favorite of mine. When I was a teenager, a friend and I sat down and played and replayed the song over and over until we got all the words to it.

Tina - I feel the same way about the firefighters. I wondered if it was upsetting me more because DH is a firefighter but I don't think that has anything to do with it. It's just a really, really sad thing that happened and I too can't help but cringe at the thought of dying that way.

Oh, remember those days before the internet could provide song lyrics for us?!  A friend of mine thought the line, "And as we wind on down the road" was "And there's a wino down the road."  Big Smile

Glad you liked the video.  I've watched it many times since seeing the original TV broadcast.  I get a bit choked up watching it, seeing Robert Plant's attempt to contain his emotions, Jimmy Page's obvious delight, and the tribute to John Bonham with his son playing drums and the choir wearing the bowler hats like he wore.  Ann Wilson's voice just adds to the power of it all.

Tina, I think you're right about your strong reaction to the firefighters' deaths being connected to your fear of fire and the horrible thought of how they must have died.  Because of my phobia about flying, my reaction to stories of people dying in plane crashes goes way beyond the average way I process news of other types of losses due to accidents or natural disasters, etc.  The other part of the firefighter story that's so upsetting is to hear how young they all were.  That seems to make it so much worse.  Cathy, I think spouses (and families) of firefighters and police officers have admirable abilities to deal with the worry about their loved ones.
