Decorating help needed

Deb - good for you for thinking of that. We actually tried to put curtains up in our current home when we put the slider in and found that to be a problem. In addition, if you can't slide the curtains past the bracket on one side (to the non-opening side), then you need to have extra long rods, so you can pull it far enough away from the door opening to get in and out and not have it blowing out with you.

I wouldn't be any real help if I were there, Cathy --- but dealing with decorating frustrations would be so much more fun if we were all there muddling over the ideas and options together!  Too bad we couldn't zip around the country and help each other out with these things whenever we wanted!

 Hmmm, keep in mind also that you would want enough panels that they would still drape in folds when all the curtains are closed...for appearances.  They usually suggest 2-3 times the width of the window.

A good resource for window coverings (not so much curtains, as blinds and shades and accessories) is American Blinds and Wallpaper.

 I have that type of curtain/drape in our sunroom.

I also have a WIDE area to cover. We do have a bracket in the center, which isn't a problem because I went with four panels. I can then open them in several ways. One all the way left, another all the way right, and the two in the center on either side of the bracket OR I can do them one on each edge and then because ours is several windows I can do the other two where two windows meet which gives me 4 curtains equally distributed

I have learned (from this house) that with drapes and curtains, extra is better. Looks better and functions better.

Also since I am super sensitive to light in the morning, I have blinds in my bedroom windows and block out drapes!

JCPenney is who everyone says to use for window coverings, even if you purchase elsewhere. I also saw nice ones in Bed, Bath & Beyond

Dang it. I would have been offering decorating advice and help if I knew we were getting paid in booze.  Deb always beats me to the good jobs. :)

No decorating advice here.  I'd probably hang sheets and they'd be there for years as I tried to figure out what to do.   

You should ask Mr. Karen.  He's got Martha Stewart on speed dial.

I'm ashamed to say how long we had sheets hanging in the windows in our living/dining rooms in this house.  I'm sure the neighbors were thrilled when we finally ordered real blinds months after we moved in! 

We did the same but I had no shame. :)  People or neighbors who might be bothered about such things should get a life. lol   We have blinds on all our windows except the spare bedroom.  We put curtains up there because some dog, I don't remember which one, tore down the blinds.  :)

 Bed, Bath, and Beyond has some decent curtains.
