I had two conversations before 8 AM that mad me furious inside.  I kept my cool, to some extent, but I really wanted to let loose on these two idiots.  One concerned feeding stray cats and the other concerned the political events in Texas yesterday.  What a lovely way to start the day.

Temps are heading up today but no humidity, so no big hair worries. I know the guy moving in here must be thrilled that he'll have a pool now and I'll bet his boys are even happier.

I haven't figured out if we'll still be sleeping here tonight or at the new house but either way, it won't be long. I'm veryyyyyy excited !!!

 Yuck Julie - try to keep in mind the ticks need 24+ hours to transmit disease. I know it doesn't help emotionally. I hate the darn things and admit to being upset whenever I find one on me.

Jackie I also am sorry for the start to your day. I am trying to focus on the good news politically but the crap going on in NC is beyond startling. I am shocked at how easy it seems to be for our current setup to dial back to the days of segregation, redistricting, good old boy networks, women bashing, and the like. Its all Ok though because out lovely governor just keeps saying its OK what he and they are doing. Seriously, each and every ridiculous thing he is doing when questioned he says "Oh there's no issue with this"  And any dissent he says its only from 'outsiders' Meanwhile he's from Ohio I believe. I am getting very close to joining a movement called Moral Mondays where people are gathering at the State Assembly to protest all this backward motion.  If they enter the building they get arrested - there is no law they are breaking but its discretionary (<= yes really they are not breaking a law). Its been building for 8 weeks. So much so that now they can't handle all the arrests and say its costing too much. The judge could have dismissed all of it but he said no they need to be prosecuted (<= yea he sides with the governor) So now they are complaining about it from that end. A tea party group posted the names and employers of each person who has been arrested, but now due to the overwhelmed court system, people aren't being processed so they don't have the names which is upsetting them LOL

Took B swimming this morning, he is getting more and more confident in the water. He got out into the lake and just kept going today LOL Gave me quite the chuckle. Here's a link to some video of my little fish LINK

DH is on his way home - in NC about 230 miles from here. He had to drive over the Smoky/Blue Ridge mountains and said it was fabulous! :( No fair!!! I love the mountains!

Jano, from yesterday, I only bought a half share with my CSA, too. It's enough for 2 people (adults) for a week, and I'm in for 20 weeks. It's kind of funny to think your growing season is even less than ours.

Today's local newspaper has a picture of two men kissing in celebration of the DOMA being stricken down along with the accompanying article. Considering I live in backwardsville, I'm sure the editorial page and Sound Off will be full of horrible comments for the next few days. Same sex marriage is not legal here.

Disappointed again. Another home I'd love to get for $60,000 and put $50,000 of renovation into. Absolutely gorgeous lot, nice screened in porch facing south, plenty of room... *sigh*

Janice, I just saw your post from last night about a house, too.  Are you referring to the same one, or is this a different one?  Both sound very nice.  Why are you disappointed?  Did someone else buy it (or them) before you could move forward?  Home shopping can be such a roller-coaster.  But I hope you find something you love that's within your budget (even if it means you have to take on HGTV projects without your husband's full enthusiasm!).

CSA boxes here start in spring and go right up until October, I think.  There's something coming out of a garden year-round here.  The big farmer's market closes over the winter (as do the farm stands), but there's a small indoor market that's open all year on Saturdays, and it draws a loyal crowd of shoppers!

Not much to report about the search for the missing climber.  Today the weather is finally better so they'll be able to get helicopters to drop SAR crews at higher elevations than they've been able to access thus far.  I keep checking news feeds online for updates.

Humidity = big hair for me, too.  Not so much a problem here as it was in CT, but this week has been unusually muggy for this area, so I've been applying a little extra smoothing product these days.  That was a nice thing about the 1980's --- big hair was really "in," so I could make that look work for me pretty easily!!

This is a different house than the one we looked at a few weeks ago. It was a foreclosure. It was listed at $99,900. It was an older house and needed a ton of updating. It wasn't the charming/character kind of old, but an ugly/outdated/not kept up well kind of old. The basement had a awkward layout, and because a lot of the ceiling panels were missing, we could see how the plumbing and electrical had been totally rigged. But the location was perfect and the 5-acre lot was just gorgeous.

If we could get the house for cheap and put a ton of money into it, it would be amazing. The realtor even said she didn't see it going for anything over $70,000 because of all the maintenance issues. So we said we'd put in a super lowball offer and see what they said. She called the listing agent first though because it was bank-owned. He said they wouldn't take less than $95,000. The people that lived there before had health problems and had taken out second mortgages against the house to help pay for medical bills. There were 12 more showings today. It'll probably sell to a builder who will fix it and flip it, or a handy-man type person who can do the work themselves.

DH decided that we no longer had any reason to stay in the old house tonight, so we hustled to get almost everything else out of there. It's all made for a long day but I'm happy to be relaxing finally in the new house. Nothing in the master bdrm, including the bed, is set up, so we'll sleep in the guest room. It's totally ready and will feel good after sleeping on a couch the last few nights.
