Wednesday (halfway there! whoo hoo) Chat

You can tell I'm already without imagination! That was the best title I could think of this early.  Can't wait til I can drive myself in mornings.

High allergy stuff this morning.  Even David said his eyes were watering.  Have a good "hump day" y'all!

Thought I was going to have a good day until the boss' son decided to change my desk for a second time in 2 work days. Me crawling under the desk to hook up the wires, again, in a dress and heels. Bleh!

I had such a bad dream last night in which Jamison got attacked pretty badly (like half his leg was chewed off) by another dog and Mr. W and I were in the car driving around endlessly looking for the e-vets office.  I kept telling him to pull over and get directions and he kept telling me "he's a dog - he'll get over it".

It's a really good thing he doesn't get up until after I leave or I probably would have stabbed him or something.

Ooh, I hate those kinds of dreams.

Picked up my 2nd CSA last night. Among the goodies were some beautiful broccoli crowns, nearly perfect strawberries, and my new thing to try this week: garlic scapes. I never heard of them but if it's garlic, it's gotta be good. Smile

Aren't garlic scapes like scallions only more "garlicky" than "oniony" ?

How is it the end of June already?  Seriously!  I've been slamming busy at work.  Because of this, I'm taking a three day weekend this week.  It's been really pleasant in the office since my coworker left - it's almost like a different environment.  So far the boss seems pleased with my handling of the workload and the added responsibilities.  I personally feel like I'm so busy, nothing is getting my full best on it.

This past weekend was awesome.  My mom came up for a visit and the next day the significant other and I finally went tubing down the river.  We started one town up from where we live and ended right on the beach on the river that is part of our condo community's property.  It took about 2 hours start to finish and was so much fun (and relaxing).  I can't wait to go again, and also to finally break out our kayaks!  I'm hoping the weather will cooperate; my boss said she'd go on call for me this weekend so I can have an enjoyable three days off.  She didn't have to twist my arm to agree to that!

Yeah, they are the tops of the garlic that stick out of the ground. I made salad last night and used a couple along with green onions. I was also reading that they can be sautéed, so going to do that with some other veggies tonight. I never knew you could eat the tops.

Hmm Tina -- I didn't know that either (about the tops being edible to garlic)!

Paige -- had it been me, I would have invited the Boss's son to hook it up since you weren't dressed for hooking up hardware!! (but then, everyone knows I'm not shy! -- big surprise huh?)

Deb -- Those dreams are hopefully rare, but I know what you mean.  I know you didn't crawl into MY dream and orchestrate that, but stay out of my airspace just on general principles!!

Perhaps I set a bad precedent when I moved my own equipment rather than wait for his return to the office today. But even when I asked him to answer the phone if I couldn't get it, b/c I was crawling around under my desk he responded that he wouldn't be able to, b/c he was crawling around under his desk doing the same. Me sitting idly while waiting for someone else to free up the space/time for me to work is my own bugaboo. I don't do it very well.

Question! If you call ahead to order a lunch for take-out, do you tip? One meal w/a side, under $20. Not delivery, and I didn't order there on the spot, I called ahead. I've been debating this one and I want to know what the current climate says.

Tina, let us know how those garlic scapes are.  We saw some at the farmers' market the other day -- first time we'd seen them.  We got some asparagus that day, but I wish we'd grabbed some of those, too.  I bet they're tasty.  Probably milder than garlic cloves, right?  Maybe you could make a nice pesto with them!

Deb, I hate those kinds of dreams where you wake up angry and/or upset --- and that one was the combination of both!  I've had dreams where I want to punch DH when I wake up!  I've had a few where I wake up and I can feel tears in my eyes, my chest is tight . . . it's amazing the real physical reactions your body goes through, even when asleep!

Paige, having to crawl under a desk at home to deal with computer wiring is bad enough -- but in an office where there's years of dirt, dust-bunnies, and who knows what else under the desk, while wearing nicer clothes . . . ugh.  Not fun at all.

The search is continuing today for the missing climber.  His family is still quite hopeful.  They had a prayer vigil at their church yesterday.  If only the weather was better to allow for more hours per day for the search/rescue teams.  After 4 nights in freezing temps, even if he wasn't initially critically injured, it's not looking good after this much time.  Sad

Which town is that in?  I have become acquainted with some reputable SAR folks and it seems like they are constantly in demand.

Also, I thought of Ruby this week.  There was a blue pit in for training at our shop this week, and, OMG, what a face.  When she was just sitting there breathing from her mouth (we've had 95 degree weather here, so the AC has trouble keeping up) it made her look like she was smiling that huge grin you see on that commercial referencing doggie dentures.  I just couldn't help myself and started laughing.

Between her and the Villalobos rescue site (oh, man, a tearjerker this morning) I miss Jada.  Granted, she wasn't blue, but she was such a babygirl.  She probably would have loved Gretsch.  OR they'd be mortal enemies.  Hmm..

He was on a trail on Mt. Hood, checked in at Timberline Lodge (which is where the SAR efforts are based now).

They named a few of the SAR groups in the newscasts -- there were several.  I assumed they were all local, but maybe not.  Along with his dental practice and regular climbing activities, he was also a violinist with a local orchestra and a volunteer patroller at HooDoo (another ski resort), so he's got lots of groups of people praying for his safe return.

Yeah, the huge, wide grin on Ruby's face when she's warm and panting is funny. One of the first pics I sent my Mom after we adopted her was of that look.  My Mom, who's generally afraid of all dogs before meeting them, said:  "She has such a big mouth!  Look at those teeth!!"  It looks a little goofier and less threatening when her tongue is hanging out of the side of her mouth, but otherwise I guess it can look a bit intimidating!

Paige - Could it be that the son is enjoying watching you while you do this work in a dress under the desk? ;)

Board meeting starts in an hour and hopefully wraps up by 4. We have to meet at the title co. after work to sign the refi docs. Our rate lock was going to run out, so I'm thankful that they got this done. I'm also super grateful that the mortgage guy got us a lock before rates started rising.

I couldn't fall asleep last night for the longest time and then woke up at 4:30 to Shane barking his head off. DH was working and it scared the crap out of me. He was absolutely frantic so I looked out the front window. I couldn't see anything but I could hear what I thought was cats fighting. Then I realized it was a different sound and saw a couple of critters out by the street. I tapped the window and they took off running. I think they were raccoons but I couldn't tell for sure. Fortunately Shane calmed right down and went back to sleep but it took me awhile and I'm feeling it today.
