    Sunny monday

I think we have a theme going. Unfortunately the sun is seeing it's last days here for a while. I'm road warrior-ing it today nf all week for that matter. 12 hrs ahead of me. I'm not quite awake yet though and I still need to throw my clothes in a bag and pack my cooler. I just couldn't bring myself to do it all last night. I wish I had some audio books or something. I have never listened to one before but everyone seems to love them for long trips. Can you dl any on android and listen that way? Anyone know?

Real summer has hit here - humidity is HIGH and due to remain so until September now LOL

I wore myself out yesterday working in the yard - it was like a rain forest, everything is so overgrown, super humid, passing storms, then bits of sun to steam things up. I had a glass of wine with dinner and was looped, guess my fluids were low. It breaks my heart but we are having to remove shrubs that have just overgrown their placement, I've tried to trim them in a manner that keeps them looking decent but they are just too big. I feel sad taking them down because I know the birds love some for nesting and others for their berries. Sorry birds, skinks, tree frogs and others

Also had the pleasure of having to cut our walk short yesterday morning because a couple of off leash dogs charged us. One is an intact Cane Corso. They've been loose before but not when I've been out with B. The owners were driving around trying to call them. Really? Get your butt out of the car and walk, the dogs showed no signs that they knew their names or cared. I was furious. And worried that I was going to be in a situation of a fight between B and this cane corso. I am going to leave a note in their mailbox. Yesterday could have been a disaster. As it is B was limping worse all day - he pulled and pulled after they charged us, he clearly stressed his shoulder. GRRR

Alright busy day ahead. I should get organized

Very glad the Wallenda guy didn't go splat

Julie - I haven't done it but I'm betting you could download audio books to your phone. You can also download them to your IPod, if you have one.

Yikes Karen!! I'm glad nothing you were able to avoid a nasty encounter with the loose dogs. I hate when that happens though :(.

It's cool and gray this morning. We should get some good rain this evening and these temps are great for getting moving stuff done. We're supposed to be 100 by Saturday - ugh!

DH just left for work and I have cleaning and still more packing to do. DH started realizing last night and this morning that there's still a lot of final stuff to get done or moved. One way or another, it'll get done by Friday and we can finally sleep in the new place.

Hazy, hot and humid here too.

Nothing exciting going on around here.

Karen, your experience with the loose dogs sounds terrible. I hope your note does some good and you don't encounter them again.

Cathy, sending you lots of good vibes for finishing up the move.

Nothing exciting here.  Work and more work.

Julie, safe travels.  12 hours on the road sounds like pure misery to me.

Just picked up our new car. Very excited. We drive cars until they die so it is always a treat to get a brand new one ;-)

Julie - you can definitely download a book to your phone. We get ours from the library. I always have an audio book going. I listen to mine for my commute. I couldn't imagine. I use the CD's but I know DH downloads his to his phone so it is definitely doable.

I am working from home today to not only do the vehicle delivery but also because Detroit's fireworks are tonight and they happen right in front of my office. The place is always a ghost town today since no one wants to get trapped in that traffic and they start closing down the roads.

    Enjoy your new wheels, Lisa!

I know it's not the same kind of humidity some of you have, but we've had some sticky weather here for a couple days, too.  Yesterday when we took our walk, it was actually uncomfortable to breathe.  It's cloudy and drizzly, but the air is warm and heavy.  It's so weird to have it be rainy and warm here.  As soon as I see rain outside, I assume I should put on a layer or two of fleece.  Usually rain means 40-50 degrees, not 70.

We listened to some books on CD on one of our relocation drives across country.  If I had long commutes to do now, I'd definitely figure out a way to download books or some funny podcasts or something to help pass the time more than just changing the radio station every few minutes.

I had a shock when I looked at our local paper online this morning -- our dentist is missing on Mt. Hood.  He's an experienced climber and didn't return from a climb as scheduled Saturday night.  I'm keeping an eye on various websites for updates as the search continues.  I feel so bad.  I think I'll put a post in Spiritual Circle for some good vibes.

I'm actually seeing sun here which is GREAT.  We've had so much rain it's screwing up my air conditioner and making it freeze.  (It was never installed properly - and to 'fix' it would mean an entirely new $8 K system.  Not happening right now.

busy day!  congrats on the new car Lisa.  We don't drive ours *quite* to death -- only until it starts being a real problem.  We just save up in advance for money and buy it.  car payments make my hands shake *smile*.  My husband is NOT Mr. Handy -- so when it starts really costing $$$ for repairs then we have to crunch numbers.

Have a good trip Julie -- I know I can get audio-books for my Kindle but I'd have to keep it plugged in.

Karen -- ugh -- the would have been awful -- you don't need B that riled up.

    Bummer about the a/c Callie.

Congrats on the new wheels, Lisa. :)

I let an arrow fly this morning and it seems to have reached it's intended target. Devil

Julie, I download audio books on my phone. My local library has a system, and amazon runs a site called audible.com. I definitely take audiobooks on trips, and I do often when I'm just driving around.

Thunderstorms are rolling in here, definitely not sunny. It was earlier, and it was torturous when I went to go see a kid at camp.

Add me to the hot and humid. 96 degrees, humidity is currently 58%.

Blech!  We've got SOUTHERN weather.  85ish and 100% humidity.  I am not impressed.  Actually broke down and turned the AC on in the car today....none at home because there isn't much call for it normally.....

Sure sounds like no one else, other than the new car lady is having such a great Monday either. Enjoy the new ride Lisa!

Apparently it is monsoon season in Minnesota. I am keeping the canoe by the back steps. When towns near us report inches of water per hour, I am glad my house is on high ground. Years ago, I drove out of Minneapolis in front of a supercell storm that dropped about 15 inches of water, and was using small cars as corks in the sewer drains. Did you know that cars will float for a while, then will sink like a rock.

My favorite son competed in the Grandmas Marathon in Duluth, and was in the top 20%. Which means he finished the race. In 3 and 1/2 hours. I can run about 100 ft, then stop for a beer and try to breath, so I am impressed.

Had our Fun Days parade in town yesterday. They line up on the street in front of my house, which can be fun. I pulled up a chair to watch, and saw Piper go on alert and start barking at the back yard. I stood up to look over the shrubs, and a local service dog group was staging in the shade in my back yard. Theyseemed to like the Alaskan type dog, and Piper was a little nervous. She went down and bumped noses with one, which is a great step for Piper. After a bit, she curled up by my feet, and we watched the young girls practice waving from the back of a car. My Grand daughter returned from the parade with a big bag of candy. The trick is to sit near the start of the parade, make eye contact with the person throwing the candy, and wave right at them.

I don't know if I am tanned or rusty.

It has been raining fairly steadily all day. Really enjoyable and I know the grass and plants are loving it. I'm beat though and almost feel a little sick. I made two trips to the new house and did a bunch of cleaning here. Vacuuming the top of cupboards is no fun and especially challenging for someone who doesn't enjoy being on a ladder.

We have a couple of new school sites opening in the Los Angeles area and the application pkgs are coming to me for review. Holy smokes!!! I'll bet I've gotten 30 just today and close to that amount the last few days since the ad was placed. It's one of those times when I really can't ignore them because it's my day off. They need to be vetted and I also don't want to have to look at 100+ when I get in tomorrow. I'll get paid for the time but it's just been an annoying distraction.

I did hang a few pictures on my last trip over and that was fun :)

ETA - Congratulations to your son Doug!! I'd have been joining you for a beer :)
