Grey

    Grey

Underneath all that fur, which is now nice and short for the summer (as you can see) is a lean, mean vet-hating machine. Because Grey would not cooperate for x-rays, the vet gave him a sedative to "take the edge off." Consequently, I spent the rest of the day with a loopy, flatulent dog who assumed the pee squat when standing and spent most of the afternoon wrapped around a lamp sound asleep. Meanwhile, Junior continued his quest to nap in every square inch of the house.      Nice photos.  At least you knew WHY Grey was sleeping so that was not a worry.

As for Junior, he has marked out a grid pattern in the house and it working on filling in each one with "been there, napped there!"  Ha ha haaa.

Sad why is it I have to get OLDER to get smarter???

At this point there are two things that have to happen with each and every dog who come    to our home to live (or even foster).

     1.  Fecal

    2.  Bloodwork

Only because we've been caught out in the past wishing WE had that information to have prevented something worse.  LIke losing my old Mike tha Dog because someone at the rescue wasn't truthful and he had NOT had a fecal, he *had* whips and hooks - I took the dog during a hurricane and then lost Mike because he was the old infirm one and didn't survive the treatments for the hooks and whips *everyone* got.

Had I done bloodwork on Tink the moment I got her I would have been able to shave months off the treatment for demodex because her liver is likely genetically sucky and had I known that EARLY it would have been easier.

My Mom calls those "things I learned the hard way".

You, on the other paw, will likely say "Next time I'm going to train the dog to LIKE the vet from day one!  MY life will be easier!"

Poor Grey -- was he unable to pee or were the hips hurting?

     Danged good pics!!

And aren't you glad that  Junior at least has a goal in life??  *chuckle*  I mean, a dog who takes his naps seriously ... you gotta respect that!

Awwwwww . . . Grey has such sweet face. And I missed Junior's wagging tail until Karen mentioned it. They're both so cute!

You'd never guess he was a vet hater. :)  I've been known to sleep wrapped around a lamp when I've gotten a bit looped. lol

Junior looks like a happy hound and he should be, all things considered.

Callie, Grey just couldn't stand up right because he was loopy. He wasn't in pain, and he didn't have to pee. He just couldn't stay upright lol. When we first got Grey many years ago, he was scared/tried to kill of many things, especially men in hats, motorcycles, bicycles, the wind, etc. We lived within walking distance of our vet at the time, so whenever Brown had to go in for something, I'd bring Grey, and sometimes we'd just go over to the vet's office to say hi. They'd give him treats and love on him, but that still didn't stop him from hiding under the chairs, as big as he is. In the last few years, he's become more and more uncooperative. I had a pic of him wearing the Hannibal Lecter muzzle, but I can't find it. It's quite amusing considering how big of a weenie I know he can be. As for Junior's sleeping...this morning, I found him sleeping on the TREADMILL! Mind you, there's a dog bed right next to it, but no, he was on the treadmill. A little part of me wanted to turn it on as revenge for all the times he's jumped on my head in the middle of the night while squeaking his toy monkey. LOL

Marlania --  methinks you're just jealous YOU can't say you "spent HOURS on the treadmill this morning"!!  (running away before she smacks me!)

Sometimes sleeping on the treadmill seems like the only way I'll stay there for that long lol.
