    TGIF Chat!

Finally Friday!  It's been a long week.  I'm bummed that the Spurs lost but not too surprised.  Miami and Lebron were playing championship ball and we weren't.  I don't know if anyone saw Sebastien De La Cruz sing the national anthem at the last two games but if you didn't go watch on youtube or somewhere.  He's so composed, talented and cute!  He's dealt with some nasty racist comments with more class than most adults.  Go Sebastien Go! :)

This week went by kind of fast for me but Tgif regardless. I have no plans for the weekend so it will give me an opportunity to weed and do stuff around the house.

My brother and family and I are planning a camping trip on the 4th of July weekend and I am trying to come p with a nice way to tell them they should probably leave their dog at home. She barks at fireworks and camping that weekend will be full of them.

I woke up late this morning. It looks like it's going to be a beautiful day.

We went out for a quick supper last night and that happened to be on so I caught him singing the National Anthem -- he is *very* talented. I hope his voice survives when it changes, but gosh he's a talented kid. It never ceases to amaze me how some people posting to a public board like that get diarrhea of the mouth! Sheesh.

I don't follow sports but I do know LeBron James has no fans in Orlando (he used to play here). Most of Orlando was rooting for the Spurs last night NOT the Heat. (Even I, who knows **nuffin at all** about sports knows that LOL.)

I know it's Flag Day (Happy Happy to all) but I'm kinda hoping that Deb comes up with something **frozen** to draw us all to the Tiki Bar today. It's hot, muggy and sticky here. (my air froze up last night b/c of all the humidity ... UGH)

Jackie I haven't seen/heard him sing but I am sad to hear that he's had to deal with nasty adults. I am weary of the nastiness and stupidity of people lately.

We just got our services back (internet,TV, and phone) but were lucky through that band of storms last night. Lots of school and other closures due to power outages.

Its GORGEOUS here this morning, I woke up early and B and I were on the lake at 6:05. Truly I cannot tell you how wonderful it was out there. Plus, despite swimming B until he was exhausted he has been hell on wheels this morning. Funny how in the past I would be irritated by his mischievous nature but as he is coming out of all the surgery and rehab it makes me happy LOL

I have a training to do today so I need to get going.

    Enjoy the day

I really need someone to pick up an overnight shift and no one is taking it.  I'm really irritated.  People complain about hours but turn down shifts (not just this one).  If I can't find anyone, I will have to do it.  I've already worked close to 50 hours this week.  That means a full day in the office and then 12 hour overnight shift, in which I won't get much sleep - if any.

I may blow a gasket at the next employee who complains about their hours.  This week needs to end already.

I saw the kid on GMA this morning- wow! He is great, both in singing, and in his attitude. Just because someone has a certain last name, does not mean he or his parents are here illegally. As much as I am not a fan of giving illegals an easier path to citizenship, and I am truly am not (I have too many friends, and clients, whose families have gone through the struggles of doing it the legal way) I make no judgement about anyone whose history I know nothing about. I can be as against it as I want, and even if his parents were here illegally, as a child he'd really have no say in that matter. He's 11. If an 11 year old's parents are in the country illegally, and have brought him here illegally, there is not much an 11 year old can do about that. Nevertheless, he is here legally, and his father is a veteran. Could you even get more American than that?

I have to go back over to the school this afternoon. I was over this morning, I was going to stay a bit longer, but didn't because the kid I was seeing was going out for gym on bikes. I think they ride around the neighborhood, so nothing I could see there really.

That is the only reason I knew whom he was - I was horrified to read an article that anyone would give him grief about his race. REALLY!?! A child performing the National Anthem should be ridiculed?! What the hell is wrong with the world? Karen, glad to see you made it through the storms. A friend from NH relocated to NC and she commented how the winds literally knocked her down and she couldn't close her front door. She likes to brag about how she doesn't have to deal with snow storms anymore, but I thought it was funny when she said "I don't know if I'll ever get used to these t-storms in NC!" Ha! Every place has its challenges.

Tired, headache, nausea, cramps. Problems when I hit the door. Is it 5:00p yet????

I hadn't seen any of the stories about that young boy but just reading what's being said makes me angry. Some people do seem to take pleasure in being ugly.

Karen - I'm glad you survived the storm okay. How did Bugsy do?

This was a brutal week for me and even though I only worked 3 days, I was whipped last night. I've had a headache almost every day for the last week or so. Fortunately, ibuprofen works well for me.

DH gets off work this morning, so it'll be another day of moving stuff and then I have a hair appt at 4.

We're hosting a Father's Day bbq at the new house on Sunday. It'll be very casual - burgers, hot dogs, salads, etc. and I just hope I remember to take everything I need over there.

My MIL emailed me yesterday to say she'd bought a Gold's Gym weight bench and free weights and never used them. She wanted to know if we wanted them and I replied "yes" as fast as I could. I'm setting up one of the bedrooms as a workout room, so this will be a wonderful addition.

Yuck!  It's 5:00 pm somewhere but that doesn't do us much good does it?  (((hugs)))

Man, I just CAN NOT wake up today.

For the first time since Mr. W retired, I was actually jealous today.  He texted me saying that he was taking a drive and going to walk Jamison on the beach. Sniff, tear, sniff.

Who came up with that ridiculous 5 o'clock rule ??  When you need a libation, you need a libation - period.

    Anyway, here you go Callie:

    Frozen Swamp Cocktail

    Ingredients:

    Directions:

    1. In a blender, mix the lime juice concentrate, vodka and half the mint until pureed. Add the water, ice and the remaining mint and pulse in five-second bursts until the liquid is just smooth enough to go through a straw. Do not over-blend, or your ice will melt. Pour into tall chilled glasses and garnish with sprig of mint.

P.S. This is supposed to make 2 to 3 drinks (or one if you're me).

    Deb W.

As Sancho Panza, Don Quixiote's right hand man said "Whether the pitcher hits the stone ... or the stone hits the pitcher ... it's going to be *very bad* for the poor pitcher!"

Tina, with a day like that going be good to yourself. Sometimes toughing it out is over-rated. Sorry you've got to deal with that. (*passing Tina a brand new bag of Dove chocolates & bottle of PreMysn PMS*)

I know wisdom when I hear it!! Thank you -- and wow, that really DOES look good. I'm glad it comes "by the pitcher".

Deb, that drink looks/sounds very refreshing!  I love lime-flavored things.

I saw a couple pieces on the news about Sebastien singing the National Anthem.  What a great voice!  I thought he handled himself with grace and poise when one reporter asked him about the mean things some people tweeted about his race.  He'll have the last laugh since he's so talented and will likely have a much more successful and happy life than those nasty people.

Cathy, you are a determined woman -- hosting a BBQ at your new house when you've had such an exhausting week and haven't completely finished the moving process yet!  On the other hand, you can keep things as simple and casual as possible with the excuse of, "Hey, we're still moving in!"

After a couple grey, drizzly, and cool days, we've got blue skies again and temps expected in the low 70's.  About 4:30pm yesterday, a tornado went through a town about 30 miles from us.  Some commercial buildings were seriously damaged, but no injuries, thankfully.  Some other funnel clouds were reported in other towns.  Not something we see often here.

Round #2 of house guests arrives this afternoon.  I'm going the easy route for dinner:  frozen lasagnas from Trader Joe's.  I'll make a fancier salad to try to class things up a bit!

I just watched an incredibly sad but uplifting video about stray dogs in Houston and a woman who has made such a difference in their lives.

Tracy, I hope the family visit is painless.  I'm just like you and so relieved when company goes home.  Not that we have a lot which may be related somehow. Wink

I've forgotten most everything else posted.  Today has been tough at work.  Tomorrow is the Doggie Dash for a local shelter.  I'll be there but not doing any dashing. lol

Tonight I need to do a lot of stuff at home because I have to leave the house at 6:00 AM.  Good thing I'm an early riser or I might be dreading it.  I do worry about finding the right area of the park the event is at tomorrow.  This park is huge and has a lot of entrances and no one seems to know where they'll actually be.  I love being lost and late.  Not.
