I look around and said "where's the dog" ??  We checked the rooms, and Jamison was sound asleep on the couch in the den, blissfully snoring away.
LOL - lucky you. When ours went off about the same ungodly hour, DH was working and Sassy went into fully panic mode. If there had been a door or window she could've escaped from, she'd have taken off and run far, far away. I'd just get the blaring to stop, almost doze off, and they'd go off again. In our case, replacing the batteries didn't help and we had to replace all the alarms. Apparently they don't last forever. Man, that was a horrible experience.

all three of us are running around like the Keystone Kops . . . . Jamison was sound asleep on the couch in the den, blissfully snoring away

Deb, this totally cracks me up.  I can see it in my mind!  It reminds me of the fire drills we had in college.  It was a Catholic college -- so it was Sister Nancy (Facilities Director) who conducted the late-night drills, and we had specific rules to follow when the alarm went off.  You had to put shoes on your feet, grab a towel (to cover your mouth/face), get your room keys, and high-tail it outside to the front lawn, where Sister Nancy took attendance.  I remember my roommate and I running in circles, bumping into each other as the alarm was blaring, yelling everything twice:  "Shoes! Shoes!  Keys! Keys!  Towel! Towel!"  Each floor had a designated student Fire Marshall, and my friend was the one for the first floor.  She didn't make it outside, and Sister Nancy was not pleased to discover that my friend slept thru the entire drill.  Needless to say, she lost her job as Fire Marshall!

Sandie, I'm so sorry to hear about your dental woes.  Gosh, that sounds painful.  Hang in there, and stay snuggled with your pups while you heal.

Tina, enjoy that massage -- and your new siding!

I was thinking we hadn't heard from Glenda in a while, either.  Hope all is well.  And have we heard from Jen since she talked about that rash on her face?  With houseguests, I've lost track of the days, so I may have missed some posts.

Yea for new siding!! OUCH! Sandie!

Deb that is so funny about Jamison. Ever since the tornadoes Bugsy is very sensitive to beeping noises so would have been in a panic. Prior to that we had one go off in the middle of the night and by the time DH 'came to' and was ready to do something I had dismantled it and not in such a manner that it could be reassembled

    Oops Julie!

Jackie I sorry to hear about poor Gabby and the storms. It breaks my heart every time B gets wound up with them. I hate jinxing it but he seems better this year so far than last. I am hoping we don't have the house struck by lightning for a 3rd time, because I think that would cause all three of us to become bumbling idiots every time it stormed

I spent my day facilitating the most disgruntled group of employees ever. I just drank a double espresso to try to snap out of it. Whew that was exhausting!

Its super hot here, heat index was well over 100* at noon. Violent storms are supposed to arrive and give us cooler weather. Currently the skies are all blue - seems hard to imagine storms are coming

8 girls and 5 boys!! When she was whelping and had just had #3, someone said "I wonder if she's done". Hahahahahaha....not hardly. The owner didn't realize she was so close and had left. Next thing we know, she decided to jump up on the bed. Can't blame a dog for wanting to have her babies in comfort, right? :)

The afternoon thunderstorms are here.  Storm  It is nice that it cools us off for a while and we can always use the rain.  The thunder and lightning, not so much.  Gabby is in her crate hunkered down.

Hope the storms you get aren't violent ones, Karen.

Thank you all. Feeling MUCH better this afternoon.

Wow new siding!  Do we get to see before and after photos?  Sounds great!

Are those smoke detectors hard wired?  My house only has the individual battery ones, so one going off does not set off others, thank goodness!  I think it's a RULE that the battery must die at 2 AM.

    Glad you're feeling better, Sandie.

Our house has hard-wired smoke detectors.  It's a nuisance because if one goes off, they all do (well, I guess that's good if there's a fire, but if there's a malfunction, it's not so good!).  One time we woke up in the middle of the night hearing a smoke alarm going off, but it was not loud enough to be in our house (it's not just the beeping of a dead battery; it's the alarm sound -- much louder).  Turns out the detectors in our neighbors' house were malfunctioning, and we could hear it even through both sets of closed windows!  They called us because they couldn't figure out what to do to get them to stop (removing batteries isn't enough apparently).  They had to wait until the fire department came and dismantled them . . . then have them serviced by someone.  They had 2 toddlers --- can you imagine keeping them calm while hearing that for an extended period of time??

Some of the thunderstorm and weather patterns in the east sound really scary.  I guess I can't complain about the rain we're having here (at least it's not accompanied by bad winds, thunder, and/or lightening).  Stay safe those of you in affected areas (and calming vibes to the nervous dogs!).

GO SPURS GO .... GO SPURS GO....  GOOOOO SPURS!!!

    That's all!

Dying smoking detectors freak my dogs out. I don't know why they are so afraid of that noise when they hear other louder scarier noises every day and don't freak. And yea I think it is a rule that they die at 2 am lol

Sorry about l the 100* weather going on out there! That would such! I have not had to turn my ac on yet this year and would like to keep it that way for as long as possible.

I forgot I had something going on at 7 tonight and didn't get off work until after 6. I had to pedal my legs off to get home in record time, let the dogs out, get changed and race across town. What a day! I am just getting home.

Today we had a zillion homeland security guards and bomb sniffing dogs occupying our building. It was interesting watching the dogs work. Thankfully they never indicated on anything :)
