    Calming tues

He rain has stopped the birds are chirping and right now is the calm before the work storm. My maiden camping trip this weekend got postponed :( for good reason but I am still bummed. I was really looking forward to trying out my new trailer. How will I stand it for one more week? I have to take a trip to the UP and am debating on flying or driving. 12 hr drive each way. I don't like flying much though.

Orlando is still getting a ton of rain -- typically when it rains here you don't even know it an hour later but last night there was standing water everywhere (which means the Florida Aquifer is getting pretty danged full.

Julie - that's sad about your "maiden voyage" so to speak -- when you get something like that you SO want to try it out! 12 hr drive each way -- ouch. Can you afford the time *to* drive? Hope everyone has a good day!

    Julie, fly.

The title of todays MC is what I need.  Calm.  Very contentious people, me included, around work yesterday.

My last hair cut has to be the worst ever.  I keep hoping as it grows out it will improve but it just looks worse and worse.

Sad story here over the weekend about two very young puppies acquired by a man from someone on the side of the road. Angry He put them in the back of his pickup truck and went to the park with his daughter.  They went to get snow cones and a passerby noticed the puppies were in distress.  The police and AC were called.  One puppy was dead when the police arrived.  The other puppy will pull through.  The man was arrested.  The temperature in the bed of the pickup was 119 F.  :(   Thank goodness that person noticed the puppies and called the police or they both would have died.

Oh Jackie that is so sad.

Oh man, how can people be so stupid??

Speaking of hair, if I don't get mine cut this weekend, I'm going to put somebody's eye out with it.

Feeling better today - I ate watermelon !!!

Julie - fly. Life is too short to spend 24 hours driving when I imagine you can get the whole trip done in less that 5-6 hrs.

Jackie that is so sad about the pups - people are so freaking stupid. Yes I am feeling jaded these days

I will admit to laughing a little at trying to wait and see if your cut will get better though - I have short hair and have tried that a few times because getting it recut would give me a Sinead O'Connor look and I don't think I have the head shape for that :) All my bumps and scars would show. Anyway it never worked LOL I had to get little trims until it was righted.

Callie same with the rain here - a neighbor has a rain gauge and has us at over 11 inches of water since Friday. We have little bits of blue here and there today - I saw a rainbow while out walking with B this morning - and no storms predicted until Thursday.  I have never seen our yard as wet as it was last night between torrents of rain. B was thrilled. And the neighbor's 10 year old was happy to splash with him :)

Just got a phone call and completely forgot I hadn't posted this yet LOL

    Super Angry about the puppies.

I'm buried in the corporate Amex.

Julie - that is a bummer about your trip. I would definitely fly vs. drive.

Jackie - sorry about your haircut. Remember the mullet I got last summer...yeah, waiting is the worst. So sad about the pups :( humans and stupid stupid.

Deb - I am so glad you are feeling! Watermellon YUM!

Nothing else new and exciting going on here. Riley's last day of school is tomorrow and then we are heading up north to hang with the in laws for a few days. We are also going to visit DH's grandma who is now in assisted living due to her dementia.

Hope everyone has a good day!!

That makes me feel a little better. lol   I look like I have horns that haven't fully erupted.  It's an interesting look and since I have hair that curls and frizzes in the humidity it's almost scary. :)  It's a good thing I rarely look in the mirror or I probably wouldn't leave the house.   I may have to take a pair of rusty kitchen scissors to it tonight.  The gal that cuts my hair loves it when I do that but it's her fault this time.

Deb, watermelon is good for everything.  So glad you're feeling better.

Coworker had a visit from a company to do an exam for some sort of insurance he and his wife applied for recently.  The company that does the exams told him to fast so he assumed it involved a blood draw and other physical checks like blood pressure, etc.  Talk about getting things confused.  It was a cognitive test.  I couldn't help but hear some of the questions and I kept wanting to tell him to quit overthinking some of the questions.  So funny when he asked her at the end about the fasting.  She was like "huh?"  lol

The boss is on vacation and I *hate* when he's gone because someone always pushes a panic button and I ain't no lawyer!! grrrrrrrrrrr (that's "fear aggression" folks LOL)

this sorta sums up my morning: http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/video/screaming-dog-fits-laughter-19321267

did I see photos of this?

Callie that was funny. A friend posted a funny video too yesterday. It was of a dog showing a pup how to use stairs - which I had seen before. Then it showed an adult cat with a kitten inspecting what looked like an attic hatch. The kitten leaned over and the adult cat whacked it in the butt, sending it down the stairs

I truly cannot believe it isn't lunchtime

I saw that right after some piddly little attorney tore a strip off me trying to bully me into something I know darned well is insane. Rarely do I *ever* get ratty on the phone, but I did with this guy. When I got done I just wanted to scream -- that little video did an excellent job of helping me vent! LOL -- (I really miss not having emoticons in chrome).

Jackie, that is a seriously depressing story!

I might not be able to fly. Gotta see if there are planes that go from Lansing to Escanaba....probably not many

    • Gold Top Dog

Having covered my flying phobia in an earlier thread, you'd probably not be surprised if I suggested driving, Julie.  But, I admit that 12 hours is a looong time to be in the car (especially doing all the driving yourself).

What a heartbreaking story about those puppies.  I'm glad the guy was arrested.  You know, sometimes I hate humans (the really stupid ones, that is).  Crying

From late last night -- Cathy, I'm sorry to hear about the sudden death of your fellow HB volunteer.  I hope it brings everyone who cared for him some comfort to imagine the greeting he got from the animal angels.

Jackie -- waiting for bad hair to grow out is not fun.  Have you considered a hat?!

I'm still at home ---- waiting for SIL and BIL to pack up and head out before I go to work.  Five days of visiting is about 2 days to many (for certain guests).  To have the daily routine up-ended is one thing, but I guess we're used to a LOT of quiet/alone time.  The constant chatter (about mostly inane topics) gets to be too much.  I can talk like a champion, but I prefer it to be with people I have more in common with.  And my SIL is just like my MIL --- you must be "interacting" at all times when visiting.  You can't do something together like watch a movie to wind down at night.  It's talking, talking, talking, right up to bedtime.  And guess what?  DH's other sister and her husband arrive on Friday.  But luckily only for one night!
