TGIF!

    TGIF!

It is Friday right? I am all thrown off this week. I hear lily drinking my coffee as I type this in the other room. Damn dog slurps it up as soon as I walk away. I think she likes the vanilla I put in it Today is going to be crazy busy but hopefully I will get a lot done I need to decide for tomorrow: bike ride (which I normally do every year with a friend who hasn't answered my email from earlier this week), heritage festival and frisbee with neiko, or drive down to IN so my friend can help me wire up my car to pull my trailer. And spend $100 in gas regardless of what I do. . That hurts

Yep -- it's Friday. And Orlando may just dry out yet!! Boy we got a lot of rain in a relatively short span of time -- but at least Charilie has finallly decided "oh yeah -- I don't like water coming from the sky but Tink 'n Luner won't leave me and ***THIS*** Mom 'n Dad won't either!" It took him most of the summer last year to get desensitized but when the rain started a month ago he was back to hiding under the knees of the nearest human or just in an unmoveable 'sit' as far from the door (& the human calling him to go outside) as he could get. It's really pretty cute -- Tink will wait just outside of the door at the top of the concrete ramp so he doesn't have to walk out in the big bad yard while it's raining. I hope the rest of you don't get hit by flooding with this "big rain" storm

She needs the caffeine to help fuel the house destruction. lol

Miami got a little taste of Texas Heat last night. :)

I made some salsa and brought some to work to have with our tamales.  It doesn't have quite enough Serrano pepper but I wasn't sure if the guys could take it too hot.  I'm sure Karen would think it was way too mild.

One of the guys brought in some apple pie moonshine that a friend of his made.  We didn't have that with our tamales. :)

I'm happy to report progress on siding. All the windows and doors were framed and the starter strip that goes all the way around the bottom of the house was completed yesterday. I hope to see siding on the house today. Trying to keep my expectations low as it is Friday. LOL

I keep a pot of oat grass around for my cats. This morning Buddy had a dangler and I didn't realize it til he laid on my lap. My bathrobe needed washing anyway. Ick!

Deb, if you're out there, got your Belmont picks yet? I don't. Haven't even seen the field.

Yummy Jackie!! I love homemade salsa.

Callie - I'm glad your weather is calming down.

Hotter today and even hotter tomorrow. We don't want to run the AC at the new house since we're only there for a few hrs a day but it was pretty miserable unpacking stuff yesterday. I'm going to get over there earlier and hopefully it won't be too bad. Now that the house is empty, I can see that the carpets aren't as pristine as they'd seemed. I scheduled a cleaning for Tuesday and I'm hoping the clean up nicely. Otherwise we'll have to strategically place our furniture to hide some stains.

I'm super excited about working Horse Expo tomorrow. I hope I'll get a chance to check out some of the competitions.

Lily get out of the coffee!

Jackie I would love your salsa, yes I prefer screaming hot at times but I love good salsa period!!

I was so happy the Spurs won

Holy cow Andrea you've sure got some water to share! Gurgle, gurgle I may be drowning and it hasn't hit here yet LOL We lost power over night but it came back on about 6:30 am, I have a feeling it won't be the last time we lose power with this storm.

Yea for progress on the siding and yea for unpacking Cathy! I am soooo excited for you :)

I, of course, took Bugsy for a wet walk already. He so loves tramping through the culvert water, I try to not consider how disgusting that water is, he is so happy splashing about. We hooked up with one of his young girlfriends and she likes to drink the water but she was totally appalled at his slapping around in it and walking the entire time in it. Very funny. She's a silly and sweet dog and picked a great human family. She turned up on their porch last summer: tiny, flea and tick ridden, emaciated with a shoestring around her neck. I cannot look at her goofy grin and silly antics without feeling this huge swell of joy. Big Smile

OK I should tuck into some work but honestly I could curl up with a good book and listen to the rain today

That's so great that she turned up on the right doorstep.

Luke  loves being out in the rain. He is just prances around in the rain, while we get soaking wet. He's going to be happy the next two days, but if it's too wet, he can't go do lure coursing on Sunday.

I'm still waiting to get a response about who is supposed to go to the flyball  tournament in July. I suspect there is a good reason the person hasn't gotten back to me quickly. Uh...If I don't get an answer in the next few days, my answer is going to be take Luke off the line up, and I don't really care that it means no one else can go.

    • Gold Top Dog

Jen, how frustrating.  I don't blame you if you decide to pull Luke out.

Karen, that's so great your neighbors opened their home to that dog and now give her a happy, comfy life with loving humans.  No wonder it fills you with joy to see her!

I've seen the news reports about all the rain in Florida and up the eastern seaboard.  Yikes.  Ruby would not be happy to have to walk in that.

I wouldn't like the incredible heat you're describing, Cathy --- and I'm not packing and unpacking!  I think it's a good idea to have the carpets professionally cleaned -- you'd be surprised at how they can get out stains you think are there forever.  Even if you didn't have those stains, it'll feel good to start with the carpets all clean so it's only your own "dirt" on there!  :-)

The de-skunking went well.  I got the stuff at the pet shop -- the brand is Unique.  They have a regular stain/odor removing formula, but also one just for de-skunking.  We left it on her for 10 minutes, then gave her a regular bath, and the smell was 99% gone.  The house was still a little "off," but we left the windows open all night and it's much, much better today.

    • Gold Top Dog

     Glad the deskunking was successful.

I just got some work done. It's raining still, not much else really going on. I need to get dressed and go to work later, but not yet.

Boss is leaving today on vacation -- I hate when he goes away LOL because then sure as I'm born SOMETHING will go FUBAR that requires his attention?? *rolling eyes* Some folks love it when the boss is away -- not me LOL

We've got tix to see Classic Albums Live do "Night at the Opera" tomorrow nite down at City Walk (outside of Universal). In honesty I was never a huge Queen fan when I was young, but since I've seen CAL do it, I *love* it. http://http://www.classicalbumslive.com/ -- they appear a lot of places in the NE and Canada (they are actually Canadian). Tomorrow night is the Hard Rock's 40th birthday celebration so "general admission" was $1 -- whoo hooo!! Fun and a cheap nite!!

With my skunk fiasco, I forgot to comment on Karen's post the other night after her birthday dinner with the dining companions who don't like trying "unusual" foods . . . . boy, I can relate to that!!  My mother is that way.  She only wants a hamburger, a steak, or pasta.  She immediately scans the menu for those.  There are so many amazing restaurants in our region -- especially if you like Farm-to-Fork stuff with tons of different produce and whatnot.  We never go to them with her, nor do we go to Thai places or other ethnic spots. Oh, and the burger or steak have to be cooked until they're like shoe leather.

As for the cheap beer one lady was looking for, we've got a friend who will not go to a restaurant unless they serve Coors Light.  That's ALL he'll drink (yet we live in the microbrew capital of the US!).  He'll also only eat prime rib or a steak.  We've had a few embarassing moments with him at restaurants -- one time a place had run out of prime rib for the evening, and he decided he wasn't going to eat!  Another time a place that always served Coors Light suddenly stopped, and it nearly ruined his meal until the waitress came out with one she found somewhere in their coolers.

I don't understand people who are so rigid about things like that.  I don't have a wild palate, but I like to try a reasonable variety of things (no matter how much I love pasta).

Arkansas lost a Wildlife Officer and a Sheriff last week trying to rescue 2 older women from a flood.  All 4 perished.

    RIP  Wildlife officer Joe Campora

    RIP  Sheriff Cody Carpenter

Thank you for your service and your dedication to saving lives.

Whew, thank goodness for Friday!   Where is our drink special I am soooooo ready for the Tiki Bar today!!

I want some of Jackie's Salsa and some Tamales (mmmmm  yummy)

Charlie, isnt it nice to have such good sisters and humans??  Tink well remembers how Luna, Billy and the Grammy Dog took care of her so now it's her turn to be the big sis.

Cathy I am thinking that Shane might want to come visit us while you are moving.. OK?

Tina I remember when we got our siding I was so excited for them to finish.  I wish I we had gone ahead and gotten metal roof at that time instead of composition....grrrrr....someone talked us out of it and we have replaced our roof 2 times since.

Hope everyone has a good weekend, stay safe and dry :)

Gin, that's so sad about the Wildlife officer and Sheriff who lost their lives trying to save those poor women who also died.

I wish I could share some of my salsa and the tamales with you.  Sadly all was consumed by the hungry men and one hungry woman this morning. lol  I do have some apple pie moonshine if you want any. lol  I'm afraid to try it but will.

Tracy and Karen, I'm not a terribly adventurous eater but I'm not so rigid that I refuse to try new things.  Some of my family are like that and I have to bite my tongue sometimes when they always refuse to try a restaurant that isn't strictly meat and potatoes type of place.  Not that I don't enjoy a good steak and a baked potato but there's so much more out there.  My brother could live on hot dogs.  Seriously.  It's all he stocks in his kitchen if left to his own devices. :(

    • Gold Top Dog

I am in on the Apple Pie :)  I have tried that before and it is a sipping drink, lol, but definately tastes like Apple Pie.  Too bad about the tamales, maybe next time Wink  BTW one of the ladies we work with is vacationing in your neck of the woods.  I didnt realize that was where she was taking her family until she sent us some pics, lol.

I hope they were able to avoid the rain showers today and have a good time.  :)  The Texas Folklife Festival is this weekend. I didn't realize it until a few hours ago.  I love going to it and we missed it last year for some reason.  Food, activities, dancing and did I mention food? lol
