Soggy Thursday

    Soggy Thursday

Rainy season in Florida started a month ago -- but today not only "takes the cake" it frigging made it into moosh and washed it away! Given that there are about 4 of us 'on' we're all prolly starting this at the same time.

Yes the Tropical storm is arriving today sometime - or is it tomorrow? Either way they are already sending out flood alerts - about 5 inches of rain expected.

Bugsy took off after a few crows this morning at full tilt, full butt-kicking, tear the porch door off the hinges mode. If he didn't detach his biceps tendon doing that I declare him healed

I am looking forward to a desk day! I need to do a ton of computer work today

Does anybody have any good Father's Day gift suggestions for my Pop ??  He's 72 and one of those guys who seems to have everything.  I'm really stumped this year and don't want to get something lame just to give him something.

no ideas for father's day gifts. That's always a hard one.

I've been on the phone since 7 a.m. This is shaping up to be an interesting day and it's only 9 a.m.

I got the destructo dogs mess cleaned up this morning too (my day started way too early). I had most of it cleaned up yesterday but didn't have time to do a thorough job of it. Hopefully they will be calm the rest of the week.

My SIL's dad wants me to bring Neiko and do a frisbee demo at their festival this sat. I want to go but gas is $4.30/gal. gah. I will no doubt go anyway, I'm touched he asked us, but I am still going to grumble about how much money I'm spending in gas lately.

We have another rappelling exercise tonight off a bridge.

    No suggestions from me Deb.

Bugsy, what are we going to do with you?

Those in the path of the tropical storm, please stay safe.

Can anyone explain to me why gas went from $3.97 to $4.14 to $4.29 in about a week's time? Angry

Calming vibes for Cathy during all this moving business.

Whew, looks like I got out of Tampa in the nick of time!  I will post a few pics later, but I went down for my granddaughter's graduation from Pre-K  (LOL) and her 5th birthday.  Time flies!

I have several elderly people to buy for, and everything seems lame!  Lately I have just been going for books or a food item....a selection of cheeses, some fresh fruit from Harry and David (my Mom raves about their pears), or even a gift box from Omaha Steaks.  They can't toss that stuff into a corner!

That's an easy one.  School is out and families are traveling so they raise prices.

Deb, don't sweat the gift for your Dad.  I say that because I can't think of any cool suggestions and never know what to get my DH.  lol

Karen, I hope Bugsy's ok after his crazy zooming after the crows.  I hope his allergies improve.

One of my nieces is having a romantic crisis.  She's devastated but we're all thrilled to see that her jerk boyfriend has finally shown his true colors.  Her broken heart will mend and maybe she'll be a little wiser in her next choice.

Julie, sounds like the dogs were having way too much fun yesterday.  :(

Yeah, I hear you on that.  Mr. W and I never get anything for each other on the holidays.  We just go out and buy what really want and not want we think the other one wants. Big Smile

Deb - I have no great suggestions either but I like Marty's ideas.

My best friend lives in Tampa and her MIL flew in yesterday to spend a week with them. I hope the weather isn't going to make her regret the trip.

I took one of DH's flexerils (sp?) last night and finally slept like a baby. I'm going in early and hoping to get caught up on some work and maybe leave early. The guy that was supposed to help DH move some stuff this weekend decided to get out of town to avoid the heat. I can't blame him and DH took the news well but I was bummed that we won't get as much done. I also worry that DH will try to do too much by himself and get hurt.

I haven't had to get gas for almost 2 wks now, so I hadn't realized the price had jumped that much. I guess I'm in for an unpleasant surprise.

If they really want families to travel, they'd lower it. Last week Gas Buddy spokesperson said it was because one company was caught stealing from another's refinery. Then, of course, there is the unrest in Syria, not to mention the tropical storm heading to Florida. Damn speculators and the lame excuses.

The price hasn't jumped too badly here, but I'm sure that will change.  My awesome boss is letting me use the company car for local personal use (company paying for the gas use).  Since she can't give me a raise, she figured letting me use the company car was the least she could do.

She's also letting me take another vaca in October.  Yup, we're booking ANOTHER cruise!!!  Same cruise to Bermuda; we loved it that much lol.  There's some pretty good deals going on right now that we're going to take advantage of.

Lame excuses is right.  It's not that the oil companies want people to travel and therefore lower gas prices.  It's because they know families will travel more in the summer and they can raise the prices.  Yes, there are all sorts of reasons given or speculated on by different people but supply and demand drives prices for most consumer goods so I'm sticking with my theory. :)

Deb, does he need a new flask?  Maybe engraved with his new grand poobah title?

Deb - I like gift certificates for the things we usually do - like for the movies or my regular restaurants - or even an amex card that I can keep in my wallet and get to use when the spirit moves me..

Neiko is such a goof. I'm sitting here at home, working on my computer and I hear a dog go down into the basement - which is odd. A few seconds later, here comes Neiko trotting up to me with a dirty sock in his mouth, all wiggly and proud of himself. Apparently, he went down there specifically to get a sock from the dirty laundry pile.

I missed what your Destructo dog did Julie but glad its cleared up - LOL Neiko Bugsy does that as a hint he wants to go for a walk or to taunt DH into a game.

I envy you doing those rappelling exercises!

Gas has jumped about 10 cents here over the last 3 weeks and is generally at 3.30 something. I was kidding DH that Charlottesville had their own pipe line though as gas was $3.09!!! The rest of VA and NC were 3.29-39

Bugsy seemed fine after his crow attack - mostly he seemed pleased with himself LOL I just took him to the grounds of the NC Museum of Art for a walk. I had been meaning to do that for a couple of years. Its only 15 minutes away and they have a bunch of paved and unpaved trails. Anyway it was nice but I could have done without B finding several rabbits.

Deb no other ideas - I totally go with restaurant cards if they like to eat out or just a cash card or a GC to a store they use.
