    Monday blahs

I can't believe that I got up at 5 this morning! I have another one of those 3 hr drives ahead of me. This is going to be a long day. However, it is supposed to be sunny so at least that is better than the last one. Cold though. Yesterday's search scenario was a missing child from a nature center field trip. There were 3 suspects, a bird watcher, a maintenance guy and an old man taking photos. The people who set up the search left rope out, a shovel, the murder weapon and various pieces of kids clothes. We found the bird watcher too who gave us more clues as to whether the girl was dead or alive or if there was suspicious activity. We found the girl dead (this wasn't real btw, they dressed up a dummy). It was really fun. Abbie found clothes, the bird watcher, the body of the girl and the murder weapon. My field support found the shovel, rope and a pop can. Oh and abbie found the girls necklace too. We have a cop on our team now (she is training a bloodhound) and she was with my group which made it all the more fun. We talked about crime scene stuff, taking the bird watcher in for questioning etc. She, out of all of us, remembered all the details that were given to us to the tiniest thing. It was cool. turns out the maintenance guy did it. We were joking when we found the rope that we were in a game of clue "now all we need is a candlestick and a knife!" (the murder weapon was a knife hehe) Ok better get a move on. Have a nice Monday all!

I could be the spokesperson for Nyquil this morning. I am a hot sick mess.

We received some bad news this weekend. DH's parent's old house up north literally burned to the ground this past weekend. It was an amazing home. They moved last year because it was getting too much for them to take of. We are in a state of total shock. Here is the picture of the remains. All that is left is part of the garage and the fieldstone fireplace. I feel so bad for the new owners - can't imagine spending millions on a home in then it is just gone. They only use for the weekend I guess so they weren't there. They aren't sure the source of the fire yet. https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/p480x480/931327_10200684505867053_1857346787_n.jpg Here is a picture of the house from last summer https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/430292_3597278538327_1630344615_n.jpg So sad, we had so many great memories there!

Photo: Early this morning our old house on Torch Lake burned to the ground. It is a total loss. We can hardly believe it.

Wow, Lisa, that really stinks.  I'm so sorry.  While it's "just a building" it's in so many ways not.  it's part of your history.

Julie, your day sounds really fun!  Yesterday.  Today, not so much.

I've been training, again.  But, I've got an awesome new rep with actual sales experience!  She's really a blast to train, since she gets it, and I'm not spending lots of time teaching her everything, just product knowledge.

The tropical heat wave seems to have finally ended.  My ankles are back, and expected to stay throughout the week!  Yes!

Hope everyone has a great day.

That was a beautiful house. I hope nobody was hurt in the fire.

We went from ridiculously hot, to pouring rain and flooding. Luke was so happy outside this morning in the rain. I'm now soaking wet and freezing, and should really change my shirt.

I'm tired of hearing about Angelina's mastectomy. So she chose to do that instead of choosing one of her other options. Great. How about coverage of other options on tv? Nope, your only choice is to chop off your boobs. I am by no means meaning to be insensitive. I am merely meaning that while covering this story and covering one option, most of the tv news outlets are failing to cover other options, and I believe it may make people less likely to consider other available options. I haven't read any print media, but I imagine it's fairly one sided there too. After reading a few other stories of people whose doctors pressured them in this direction, I feel like the other choices need a bit of air time too.

Is it rude or wrong of me to ask and find out if a certain dog would be on Luke's team, and say no if that dog is going? I posted more yesterday, but the whole team doesn't go if Luke doesn't go. Luke could probably easily get a spot on another team, if I wanted him to go (not hugely wanting him to go, he's going to a tournament the week before). I just don't want to waste my time and money if this dog is coming.

Lisa sorry you are sick! Feel better soon. So sad about that house - I can't imagine the sense of loss Crying

Julie that SAR practice sounds great!

I cannot shake the super duper tired feeling. I am going to try one more cup of java and hope that helps

Its raining so far - at some point I need to take the mutt swimming.

    Yawn Sleep

Julie, getting up that early when you aren't a morning person must be horrible.  Hope the day isn't too bad.

Lisa, I'm sorry you're sick.  The loss of your in laws former home is heartbreaking.

Jen, I'd ask about the other dog.  What do you have to lose?

Karen, sorry the rain is back.

I don't think I slept more than three hours last night.  *yawn*  We've got a business lunch/meeting today and I hope I can stay awake.  The humidity has my hair looking like I stuck my finger in a light socket but I'm too sleepy to care. lol

So sorry to hear about the house, Lisa.

Here's a funny little story from over the weekend.

I've been taking Jamison to this place called "Earthwise" for his baths, ear cleanings, nails clipped, etc.  I really like the place and the people and they use all natural products to boot.  So anyway, he's been there like three or four times before this weekend.  When I walked in to pick him up, the owner says:  " I have to talk to you about your dog".  Immediately, my stomach dropped because I thought he bit someone or something, even though he's never done anything like that in the past.

Owner:  What's up with your dog ?

    Me:  Why, what happened ?

Owner:  (laughing) No, nothing happened, but everyone who works on your dog says the same thing.

Me:  Well, what are they saying ?  (Again, kind of thinking the worst).

Owner:  They all say that Jamison looks at you like he's making love to you with his eyes !!

Me: (cracking up) Oh yeah, he's a lover all right - that's why I make out with him everyday.

Owner:  I could see why, I'd pick him over my husband anyday.

Me:  Yep, that's what I usually do.

I just thought the whole conversation was funny !!

That's too funny about Jamison. What a lover.

Jackie, I suppose it doesn't matter if I ask if the other dog is coming... I didn't plan to go back after the last tournament, and I have no intention of going back after this one. Who cares who I piss off asking? If I can do it by checking the signup book next practice, or by asking someone other than the team captain or team dictator, then I will do it that way. I should ask the person who got me to come back if she knows whether or not that dog is coming

Speaking of volunteer stuff too from yesterday, I mailed an application to volunteer for something in August. The person hasn't contacted me, so I should really write to her to make sure she got it. I really do love volunteering for this thing.  It'll be my third time this year. It's iCan Bike Camp, to teach kids with special needs to ride bikes.

    Deb - LOL!

Lisa, I hope you feel better soon. Very sad about the house burning down. Glad nobody was hurt.

My siding was not delivered on Friday and I did not get a phone call telling me of the change of plans. I sent the installer an email this morning that said, "Did I misunderstand what you told me or did you forget where I live?". Phone rang in less than a minute. Apparently the forecasted rain made them decide to leave the material on the work trailer and start today. Okay, that's fine, just keep me informed. Hmm

Julie, that sounds like it was an interesting search.

Wow! I just got a reply from someone at a school where I did some work. She's retiring, so I won't be dealing with her next year if I go back in. Anyway, she said she was impressed with my work. I already had a request from the school district to get me in specifically for a job. Can she maybe forward that to my boss?

I can feel your frustration  . . but look on the bright side - now they'll be banging and hammering while your at work so you didn't have to listen to it all weekend.

Oh, I'm quite sure they wouldn't have worked on it over the weekend. Besides, I'm working at the track on the weekends, so I'm not home anyway.

However, they do start early, when DS is trying to sleep, and I don't feel bad about that at all. Devil

Lisa - I'm so sorry about the fire burning down that beautiful home :(. I hope you start to feel better soon.

    LOL Deb!!!

Julie - that SAR training sounded like a good time.

Tina - I'd have been really ticked off about the no-show for the siding and no phone call.

Re the Angelina thing, it sure has gotten a lot of press. I had the same genetic testing done and had it come back showing I carried the genetic marker, I'd have done the same thing as she did. I don't think any other option is quite as foolproof.

Another hot day here and the fires down south are out of control. I have friends and coworkers that live very close to these areas. I hope they get a handle on them soon.
