    Thursday thots

Wow -- 8:07 and no new chat? The only time *I* usually start this is when I'm up late! Rainy Orlando this morning. I'm just sitting here doing a huge mailing all by myself. That means there's no one else here to annoy me! LOL

I'm not moving very fast today.

I hope no one was affected by the storms yesterday.  We had nothing here except humidity and heat.

    Not much going on here.

Happy Birthday, Karen and Lisa!!  Cake

It was one of those tropically humid mornings here -- having the air on in the car simply produced a "cloud" around the car so you come to work with your windshield wipers on to wipe away the condensation LOL Julie -- I'm not winning any races this morning either. Yawn. Luckily this mailing is just one long "MRT" (menial repetitive tasks) that has to be done but is profitable for the boss. boring but easy

Happy Birthday, Karen and Lisa!!  Cake

    Yea for cake!!

Hmm not sure why but I am kind of melancholy about my birthday - thinking about people no longer here. Thinking about life's path not about being old if that makes sense.

I did get some fabulous news this morning - my stepdaughter and husband are expecting a girl!! We have three grandsons so this will be one spoiled little princess.

I had B out on the lake at 6:20 this morning, the entire lake was ours, gorgeous morning. Fab way to start the day even if loading up the kayak is not something one enjoys at that time

    OK another long day ahead

    Later folks

    Yea for cake!!

    What time is the cake?Gift

Today is one of my boss's birthday, too. Party!!!

Sad morning here. The battery in my favorite clock that sits on my desk finally died. This is my "Weeble" clock, it's about 3 inches high, and has a round weighted base so it never falls over (like a Weeble), blinks the date and time. I've had it for about 8 years and got it as a gift from some office supply company. I hope I can remove the battery and replace it. It's unique and I like unique clocks and watches.

Thanks for the wishes!! And Happy birthday Karen ;-)

Getting a little annoyed this morning. I am usually the one to plan b-day lunches, etc. at work and of course, not a single person here has even acknowledged it's my birthday. However, Todd sent over the most adorable video of Riley in the tub singing to me. Everything else seems petty :)

Congrats to you stepdaughter and hubby!!

Happy birthday to you birthday folks. And yay for baby girls. Today is the first day of my vacation where I don't have to do anything but take Addisen to t-ball this evening. I don't know what to do with myself when I'm not super busy. Usually this idleness leads to a home improvement project, but I'm trying to contain myself. Meanwhile, Addisen wanted a hamster for her kindergarten graduation. We have had all sorts of critters over the years, including guinea pigs and a hamster that lived for 7 years (how, I have no idea). I really tried convincing her to get a fish instead, but no, she had been talking about a hamster for months. So I relented, and now she has two hamsters (it needed a buddy, okay? lol). Both hamsters are girls, yet she named on Gilbert and the other Mashed Potatoes (last month she picked out a name already...Chester Leif Turkey...so Gilbert and Mashed Potatoes aren't quite so bad considering lol). These hamsters are morons. They won't come out of their wheel, which is in this ridiculous contraption of a cage, and I'm worried that they'll be too stupid to realize they're hungry and die up there. I'm assuming that they do come down occasionally, and yesterday, Mashed Potatoes (I think) escaped because Addisen somehow caught her and took her out of the cage to pet her despite me telling her not to do this when we weren't with her. Well, Mashed Potatoes escaped, of course, and Brett and I had to track her down. Thankfully, she didn't make it out of the room and ran into the corner of the closet, but for a while, I thought I'd have to enlist the help of one of the dogs to sniff her out. Strangely enough, many years ago, this happened to us when one of the hamsters knocked down its tubes at night. Brown found them the next morning in the closet inside of Brett's shoe. :D

Happy Birthday, Lisa & Karen!! Bummer about your jerky coworkers, Lisa.

    Happy birthday, Lisa & Karen!

Lisa, I think you should play that video of Riley singing several times, very loudly . . . maybe your coworkers will hear it and get the hint!!!  You said today is your 40th, right?  Got anything extra special planned to mark the milestone?

Karen, I admire your oomph to get out so early for kayaking.  I understand the melancholy thoughts you described.  I think it's part of middle age for most of us.  Yay for the granddaughter-to-be!  It'll limit the amount of hand-me-down clothing she'll get from her brothers (or cousins, if that's who they are), but you can help with the shopping for a few girl-y things!

I finally bit the bullet and bought airline tickets for a trip to CT this summer.  I haven't been home in about 4 years, so it's long overdue.  I'm such a phobic flyer that I can never muster the courage to book tickets --- it feels like planning my death.  Now I have a few weeks to panic about the flight.  If only I could beam myself over there by wriggling my nose or something.

I'll only be there a week, which is not enough to do all the visiting I want to do.  I haven't told a lot of people I'm coming yet.  I need to prioritize the family & friends who I want to spend the most time with.  I think we'll have a pizza party in the common area of my Mom's apartment complex so I can see a bunch of people at once, rather than having to drive all over the state visiting people.  It's never a relaxing visit when I go home since I have a full schedule, but I like it that way.  It's more fun in a week than I have in a month or two here!

    Happy Birthday Karen and Lisa!!!

Tracy - you're going to have a great time and the flight will be a breeze if you just have a couple of cocktails on the way :).

We got word that the docs are at escrow and we'll get the call to close at any time. That was 2 wks and 1 day from when I started the loan process. Amazing!! Part of the reason for that is technology. I was able to scan and email most of the docs they needed and I was able to download estatements from banks, etc. and email those as well. It really made the process seem fairly painless. Since there wasn't enough stress going on, we decided to refi our current home. We figured it would be easy because they have all the docs there already but we missed the boat on the low rates. Figures they'd pick this week to jump up :(.

I have my nephew's HS graduation to go to Sat morning and then his party is Sunday night. Other than that fun, I guess I should get some packing done, right?

I opt for chemical assistance in the form of a tablet versus a cocktail, Cathy. Wink  The good thing is my flight out is a red-eye, so I'll take something and sleep most of the way.  However, that gives me another kind of anxiety:  I worry about being too zonked out to function properly if there's an emergency of some kind.  Honestly, this is why I never travel -- I'm not normal.

That has to be the fastest loan closing process I've ever heard of -- especially the way lenders have been behaving in recent years.  We refinanced our house a year or so ago, and even staying with the same lender and my super-organized way of providing every single document needed -- it was a couple months before it was done.  Anyway, it's so exciting . . . can't wait to hear how you settle in after the move is complete!

    RRRRRRRR Angry  Rant ahead warning!

I am on the phone with Tracfone... going on 40 minutes now. I went to their website to add airtime to my phone, which I do once a year. As soon as I get to the home page, a pop-up comes up with four different offer codes. I picked #3, put it in my cart, reviewed, entered my credit card info, took a screen shot, and clicked pay. The receipt screen came up and it was a completely different package. Different service time, different minutes amount, different cost. I have screen shots of the code, my check out screen, and my receipt screen.

I've had to explain it about 38 times to two different people. They were treating me like I was using some made-up code. I made the lady GO to their website and LOOK at the code. Cripes. She never said that she saw it, but now she's "working on" adding the right package and deleting the incorrect one. ohmmmmmmmm

    ETA: 60 minutes now... *twitch*

Tracy -- I finally quieted my own flying nerves long ago by making myself understand that when you look at the numbers of how many accidents there are in any given day compared to how many miles people travel (most accidents occur less than 20 miles from home) -- when you compare that to how many plane accidents there really are (danged few -- truly DANGED few) -- it really made me realize I'm a whale of a lot less at risk in an airplane than in my Cruiser. And it wasn't a huge logical step to realize that given that most of the time I'm going 4 miles an hour on the Interstate so if anyone DOES hit anyone during rush hour they really don't get hurt very bad! -- take that page from Callie's little book of "How To Talk Myself Into Most Anything!"
