I think your movie escape was wise. What did you see?
I am just not a girl to be denied a potty easily! LOL and Davey knows it!! LOL
I saw Start Trek (loved it -- on many levels. Seeing Spock totally lose it and "get mad" was an all time screen highlight. And getting to see Dr. McCoy (who always used to get to say "He's dead, Jim" at least once every episode??) -- he's running blood tests on a furry thing and Kirk walks by and says "Are you playing with a Tribble Bones?" and McCoy replies "The Tribble's dead, Jim" --
The whole theater cracked up!
Then I saw Epic -- good one to take the kids to. But to be honest - it was worth it for me just to see the pug character "Ozzy". (why is that SUCH a popular pug name?? *rolling eyes*).
The guy who wrote the book was also the filmmaker -- but this guy "gets" pugs. This pug was a tripod dog *and* blind in one eye. I loved it for that alone. In fact, pretty much every character in this was flawed -- but done well for that.
But Ozzy was still heading everywhere on a dead run, then he'd try a corner too fast and wipe out onto his side (I've seen THAT a million times) -- & of course he had to kiss everything into sloppy oblivion ... it was honestly one of THE best cartoon renditions of a breed I've ever seen.
It honestly was a seriously good film as a jump off for discussion with little ones on MANY levels. I knew absolutely nothing about it -- I simply walked into it because it wasn't too heavy and it started at the right time.
PS -- edited to add for the parents:
Epic does deal with death. Early on the Queen of the "Leaf people" catches an arrow from the bad folks and the Heroine's mother has just recently passed away. It's handled well -- but be prepared. It's not for TINY kids -- and with voices like Beyonce and Pitbull it makes it more attractive to the actual age that can benefit most from it despite the fact that it's a "kids movie".
