    Thursday chat

    Good Morning everyone!

Thanks for all the well wishes on our anniversary.  We had a nice dinner and absolutely a glass of wine to toast the last and next 30!

I'll be so very glad when this freaky weather ends.  The horrible destruction and death in TX and OK are horrifying.  Way up here we've had tornado warnings in our area the past two days, and severe thunder storm warnings.  Not much actually happened, but it sure does keep you on edge, particularly when you've seen "first hand" on TV the horrid devastation this things can create.  Still sending out prayers for all those involved in both states.

Off to the trenches.  Wishing everyone a good day.

Even though I've never experienced a tornado, the thought of one scares the crap out of me.

I really don't want to be at work today.  I want to be home doing the 5 million loads of laundry I procrastinated on and packing for our trip lol.

    Morning!

The weather is raining on my parade for sure. And the mosquitos Omg! They will carry you away.

Abbie has a raw paw from running with me on the bike. Bummer. I'm going to have to use mushers secret before our runs.

We are in prime shedding season right now. Finally. Piles of hair all over the place. Vacuuming makes no difference.

I used to know a lady that would spin dog hair.  I thought that was pretty cool!  Hope Abbie's paw feels better soon!

Today is DH's 50th birthday!! He insisted he didn't want a fuss, so we won't be doing anything crazy but I'm making his favorite carrot cake. When I turned 50, I celebrated big and all year long :).

Gorgeous morning but coolish for this time of year. Not going to complain about mid-70s though.

Deb, do you work with the same people I do????

Oh my gosh how I have missed all you guys and furr babies.. I havent had time to get on with the craziness of my world lately.

    The short story..

I have been busy at work with some conversions, busy at home with spring chores, my grandson graduated from H.S. last week so we went home to Tulsa for a few days of family time.   Got home in time to hunker down with the tornados in the area.  We had them come right over the top of us but only lost some tree limbs it didnt touch down until it passed us.  A co-worker lost a family member in a freak storm accident, he was a very sweet 19 year old boy.  I grew up in Tulsa so tornados are typical for this time of year and I have experienced some really bad ones.  The storm in Moore is so close to my heart.  Prayers for their strength and recovery are weighing heavy on many hearts this week.

Yesterday was my birthday....57... looks so much older on paper, lol.   Ron made me a wonderful dinner much needed after a hectic day at work.  I am looking forward to finally being able to play in the dirt :).  The boys are looking forward to not hearing thunder.

I hope everyone is happy and well, please be safe if the storm is headed your way.

Almost forgot..Happy belated Anniversary Glenda and Mr Glenda I knew there was something else important going on yesterday besides my BDay

I believe so.  I explained roughly six times to one of the uniformed that in order to qualify for FMLA she needed to work 1,250 hours in the immediate twelve months before her requested leave date.  Of course, she didn't have the hours and she kept asking me over and over "but how can I get approved"?  YOU CAN''T - YOU DON'T HAVE THE HOURS !!!  Then once that finally sank in, she kept asking if there was anything I could do circumvent the requirement.  Yeah, I'll just adjust a federal law to meet your needs.  Yowza !!

Happy Birthday Ginger and Mr. A. !!!!

Happy Birthday to Mr. Cathy and to Ginger!  Cake

Gin, I'm sorry to hear about your coworker's loss.

I've been on a major clean sweep here at work.  I'm throwing out so much stuff and emptying shelves and file cabinets and drawers of crap we haven't needed for years and years.  I may have to rent another dumpster if I keep this up.  I spent hours and hours shredding yesterday.  Don't stand still too long around here or you'll end up in the trash. lol

The cleaning guy is here and he's all "where is everything?"  Surprise

I was thinking of you through all of this, glad that the one nearby 'missed'

Happy Birthday Gin and Mr Cathy!!!!!!!!!!!! Many more happy years ahead for both of you!

    Deb - idiots abound

    Have a good one!

    What's everyone doing for lunch????

Good to hear from you, Ginger.  I thought you might be in line of some of those tornadoes.  Glad to hear you're okay.  Happy belated birthday!

Cathy, your DH sounds like mine when he turned 50.  I was willing to plan all kinds of festivities, but he said no, it's "just another day."  That attitude is why I had to plan/throw my own 40th Bday bash, and I'm sure I'll do the same when it's my 50th!  Anyway, best wishes to your DH.

Deb, that exchange with your coworker is the kind of thing that makes me want to scream!  When I was in HR/Payroll several years ago, we'd get the same kind of idiotic requests from staff who refused to accept our answers.  My theory is that people think if they just keep repeating their request to you over and over and over, that eventually you'll give them the answer they want to hear.  I sometimes had to bluntly say, "You can ask me that question 1,000 more times, and my answer will be the same."  Ugh -- it's making my blood pressure rise, just remembering those situations!

I think you need to come up with a special drink to serve after such exchanges . . . . something called "Read my Lips" or "What Part of No Don't You Understand?" or "I Can't Change Laws Just For You" or "Shall I Get the 2x4?"   I know you've got better ideas than those!
