    Thurs chat

Maybe today will be more normal and relaxed. This week has been intense! I have 10 million mosquito bites after last night. Jan I am jealous of your hummingbird! I moved my feeder to a more easily viewed from the sky spot. Maybe one will show up in the next few days. Hope eeveryone have a nice calm day without idiots :)

Yep -- we were typing at the same time.  Makes me feel better.  ME?  starting chat?  The world must have tipped off its axis!!

Well, I cut my hand last night and just kind of bandaged it up and hoped for the best. This morning I checked it an although the bleed has stopped it's a little worse than I thought. Thinking I am going to head to the docs to get it stitched up or at least have him take a look at it. There was no way I was going to the ER/Urgent Care at 9:30 - unless of course I was bleeding to death, which I wasn't.

The cuts not even that deep, but it is at the base of my thumb on the inside of my hand right along the crease so I think it will be hard to heal without stitches. I am heading to Vegas next week and do not want anything impeeding in my playtime :)

It's a good idea to have stuff like that really looked at. "hands" are difficult because we contact so much "junk" with our hands.  Hoping it *is* no big deal!!

Good luck with the hand repair, Lisa.  As long as it's not your drinking hand you should be ok in Vegas. Big Smile Seriously, I hope the doc can stitch it up so it heals and stays closed because that is a terrible place for a cut.

Yesterday when I walked in the house I smelled a terrible odor.  Almost like rotten eggs but not exactly.  Checked the entire house, kitchen garbage, refrigerator, pantry and could not find the source of the horrible odor.  We opened all the windows to air it out but the smell lingered. DH was convinced a dog had pooped in a hidden spot.   This morning I opened the kitchen cabinet where I keep the doggie meds and the smell hit me.  Ick!Turns out I never threw away a bottle of sulfur lime dip I got for Gabby when she had ringworms as a puppy.  I had used it once at home but after smelling it I started taking her to the vets and paying them to do it.  The bottle cap must have been loose and the bottle tipped over in the cabinet.  What a mess to clean up.

The stress of waiting to hear about the bid is starting to hit me.  I've been able to pretend I wasn't worried until this morning.  I didn't sleep well and woke up twice with a cramp in my calf that made me cry out and jump out of bed to walk off.

Deb, what's the drink of the day?  Not too sweet and make mine a double.

Hopefully your wound isn't too serious, Lisa, and you heal quickly. Good idea to see the doctor just in case.

Thanks for the thoughts about my home situation. Apparently DS doesn't believe I'm serious and thinks we should have yet another conversation about it. He left a note saying he doesn't understand why I don't wait until he is feeling better to have this talk; after all, he would show me respect and not be a jackass to me when I'm sick. Yeah, that's respect. Hmm

I really wish I'd win the big lottery so I could move far away and not tell him where I'm going.

    No can do.

I take two "maintenance" type prescriptions every day.  I've been taking them for years.  So, I go and get them refilled and throw them into the cabinet in the bathroom where I keep them.  I still had 5 or 6 pills of each medication from my last refill so I don't open the bottles for about a week.  When I do open the new bottles, I notice one of the medications looks different so I compare the label with the old bottle.  It was the same base medication but all the little code numbers and letters after the medication name are different.  I take the old bottle and the new bottle back to the pharmacy and ask the pharmacist if I had the correct meds.  He looks everything up on the computer and tells me no - the medication I received had an extra diuretic in it which I don't need.  So I leave the meds with him and tell him I'll be back in the morning to pick up the correct stuff.

Fast forward to this morning when I go to pick up my meds.  Of course it's a different pharmacist and when I say my name he tells me they don't have anything for me.  I explain the whole story to him and once again this guy looks everything up on the computer and tells me the insurance company is denying the 'script because it's too soon to be eligible for a refill.  WELL NO **** SHERLOCK - THAT'S BECAUSE YOU REFILLED IT LAST WEEK WITH THE WRONG MEDS !!!!  This guy insists that there's nothing he can do about it and that I need to contact my insurance company.  I try to calmly tell him that I'm not contacting anybody - you (the pharmacy) made the mistake and you better fix it.  I told him I would be back promptly at 3pm and my medication had better be ready or I was going to call the police, the mayor, the president of Walgreens and Eyewitness News to make sure everyone in the state of NJ knows exactly what kind of idiots work in this pharmacy.

I'm now taking bets at 7 to 1 odds that they don't have this corrected by the time I get there this afternoon.

It's 9:15 in the morning and I need a drink.

Lisa - I hope you can fix your hand up.

Deb - go to Walgreen's Facebook page and complain. That has been my mode of complaining lately and it works wonders!!!!

Julie *scratch, scratch* I was out watering a few things this morning and at three different times had a lone star tick crawling on me. I decided I preferred getting eaten by a zillion mosquitoes which will be happening soon enough. Sadly I think for the first time in my life I am going to have to do some sort of insect protection in the yard. Lone star ticks carry rocky mountain spotted fever and erlichia I cannot, will not be covered in ticks just walking in my closely mown yard.

Lisa glad you are getting that cut checked out and hoping you can have it sorted out so it heals well

Jackie I am sorry you didn't sleep well, totally understandable but it may be a while. Have some low sodium V8 or coconut water prior to going to bed - should help with the cramps.

Deb I am so disgusted with healthcare in this country. It is the most ridiculous situation with more hoops to jump through and more steps for mistakes than imaginable. Just think in the UK you just go pick up the medicine or you just go to the doctor or hospital. No paper trail. No insurance arguments. No losing your house to pay for care.  I hope they get your script correct but I am not betting on it

I have a zillion things to do today and a zillion more to get ready to go to the beach.

Its going to be 90* by lunch time. Seems like just a few days ago we had 34*. Oh yea we did

I am not sure what to do about Bugsy's shaved area while at the beach. The hair is definitely not thick enough or long enough to protect him from the sun. I've been looking for a cheap UVF shirt to cut up for him to wear but no luck. I will put some sunscreen on him but he's likely to be weird about that and wind up rolling in the sand. When he is wet his skin is really exposed.

    Any ideas??

Ugh Deb - I have had similar things happen and it's beyond frustrating. I hope they have it straightened out when you go back.

Good thoughts for your hand Lisa. I thought they couldn't do sutures if it had been too long but it's still a good idea to get it checked.

Jackie - when will you hear about the bid? I hope you get some good news soon.

Very bizarre weather here. It's windy, drizzly and cool this morning and they say it'll be raining most of the day. We were in the 90s the last few days and will be back in the 90s by Sat.

I got word that the gazillion loan docs I'd submitted looked good and it's confirmed that we're qualified for the loan. Our neighbor came by last night and he really wants to buy our current home but doesn't want to pay even close to what we'd want. He is renting the same model of home as our's but it's not as nice and doesn't have a pool, so he's interested in renting our house. It would sure make things a lot easier if he does.

Our BIL is a contractor and is going to meet DH at the new house to do the inspection later today. Hoping that goes smoothly.

ETA - Karen - I think the t-shirt idea is the best.

I'm just seeing the news on the tornadoes in Texas :(. Prayers and good thoughts for all those affected.

So very sad right now. We just received word that my co-worker Maureen past away last night. May she find some peace and comfort and watch over her little boys from heaven. God bless you Maureen, your husband and family. Rest easy now.

Lisa I'm so sorry. This is just so sad. Sending thoughts and positive energy to her family, to give them comfort and strength in the days ahead.

Lisa, I'm so sorry to hear about your co-worker's passing.  Even when it's expected, it's still very sad, especially when you know her little boys are dealing with something no young child should have to experience.  Sending strong vibes to everyone in the family, and to you and your coworkers, who are hurting, too.

On a lighter note, I hope your hand heals quickly.  Good idea to see the doctor with your vacation around the corner.

Tina, I wish you would win the lottery, too, so you could move where you want and not have to deal with all the upset with your son.  I hope things get easier soon.  Hang in there.

Jackie, we've had "mystery" odors in our house a couple times, too.  After looking (and sniffing) everywhere, we figured out it was spoiled potatoes in the pantry.  It's weird how all of a sudden something will turn truly rotten overnight.  I try to keep stuff cleaned out, but every now and then something is missed.  Ugh.

Deb, that drink should help relieve all "idiot-caused stress."  That Islay scotch is so strong!  DH is a scotch connoisseur, and if he's drinking Laphroaig, I can feel it burning my esophagus when he's sitting across the room from me with his glass!

There are very few things I like about the climate here, but one of them is the low population of pesky insects (at least in this region).  Not having to deal with ticks in the yard is a huge plus.  In CT, I swore they dropped from the sky (even when we walked on paved areas, we'd find them on Tonka).  Ick, ick, ick!!
